JENAE954,
Although I agree with Mimi that it is "different strokes for different folks", and we do eventually develop an internal calculator, I believe that actually weighting and measuring does make a big difference. Even when in touch with portion control we are often not very accurate; Sometimes we will over-estimate, but when doing this for a long time, I believe we (or at least I ) will begin to underestimate, as I begin to have a desire to eat less.

I'm not consistent with measuring/ weighing.
I kind of know already how much protein and carbs I should eat - I'm in touch with portion control.
But I'm looking very carefully into carbs count, protein, fat, sodium and CALORIES. Still believe in calories......whatever worksfor me I keep doing.
I limit my carbs to 45-60 grams per meal, and 15 grams for snacks.
I'm not diabetic, or pre - diabetic, but monitoring the carbs helps me tremendously in maintaining my goal weight.
I'm eating more and more free veggies, but I watch the portion control of starchy veggies. I think I memeorized the portion of many foods after 8 years in maintenance.

Always do whar works for you the best.

I'll celebrate 10 years of maintenance on July 2nd, 2014!

YES! Except for when I am out to eat. Like Hungrywoman2 I estimate and hope it is right to track. I do look up those places we go if I find the nutritional information I figure out what I will eat and the points. Try to preplan when I can. Love my scale. It also goes on vacation with me.

Except on the occasions when I am out and can only estimate, hoping I can track it or find something similar, I still use my scale, measuring, cups etc. most of the time ( meaning almost
always), even after all of these years. I suppose it has become a habit. emoticon

I measure food. My meat is usually marked on the package, how many ounces.
Tracking is really the key too and the portion.

I have started weighing and measuring all of the foods eaten.
Makes a huge difference.
