Suezette, I think Joe is right. In 2009 when I was on my 400+ day running streak I was at my smallest.

Thanks Joe. It was a great party (we even did Irish step dancing, though DH and I had missed the demo/instructions at the beginning, so that made for some pretty interesting moves, LOL). However, I definitely can't eat and drink the way I used to... Not necessarily a bad thing, though. :-)

Joe, WTG on the accomplishment! I'd like to be able to sustain a calorie deficit without counting... One day. :-)

I'm falling off the wagon in a major way today. I'm going to a pre-St. Patty's Day party, and I'm going to indulge in one of my faves: BEER.

That's the best weight loss plan I have heard in a long time. I must
run that past hubby.

Tonight supper will consist of a vegetable soup (homemade) to start off and salmon roasted cauliflower and a salad for main course and maybe yogurt for dessert. Got to get cooking.

My (somewhat) healthy eating plan was going strong the first 8 weeks of the year and not so strong since. However, i haven't let myself completely fall off the bandwagon and make sure that I am still getting about 2 days vegan a week and at least one more day vegetarian.

My miles though have continued on through the roof. And believe it or not (i never would have myself the last few years) for the first time in my life running seems to be causing me to lose weight WITHOUT calorie counting.

Shocking, i know! :)

There is hope for us Rhynic. We just have to quit our day jobs and run all day ever day. Then we can eat all the refined sugars and pizza we want!!

well supper is on the go. talapia, and salmon. it's my first time trying talapia so I only have a bit of it.

veggies are carrots and broccoli. I have a couple potatoes boiling for my son but i will not be eating any this time. potatoes only join the club in the next 17 day cycle.

I really didn't eat very much today...way less then I typically eat but since I haven't have much sugar I do feel pretty good. No where near as hungry as I have been some days eating twice as much (most of my extra calories come in the form of refine sugars).

RHYNIC nice job on your food postings.

I had just come back from the eyeball doctor and my eyes were dilated when I read your first post today. I thought you typed a lot of cream instead of a bit of cream (everything was kind of blurry. I was just checking to see if you knew how much...I know when I add cream to my coffee and don't measure it I "only" put in a half of serving each time but the container only last half as long as it should emoticon

When I put in a bit of cream in my coffee I put in a tablespoon.

My lunch was a plate full of different types of lettuce, diced up tomato, peppers, mushroom, celery and 1/2 can of tuna. With low fat balsamic vinaigrette. 6 oz of plain Greek yogurt 1 cup of blueberries and 1 tablespoon of no sugar added fruit spread.

I know it is time to try something new which is why I was actually lughing out loud when I typed my previous response. (I know myself too well ---too much time reflecting on long runs)

I can keep my calorie count in check but I can't plan it (YET)

I keep thinking that I will let SP tell me what to eat but have not got the nerve.

I do eat a ton of fruit and veggies, and drink about a gallon of H2O.

Thanks for highlighting the article, Henry.

I also like plotting my weights on a graph. Makes it much easier to see the big picture, and to not take those little, incidental data points (individual weigh-ins) seriously. I've developed a more positive and rational attitude towards myself as a result, too.

"Take the Stress Out of Weighing In" an excellant article on why I talk about my no-exercise calories every Wednesday (weigh-in day).

I might start looking at weighing myself with an accurate scale more often a start doing linear anlysis on the data.

Quick check-in: the past weekend went alright, maybe a few too many Doritos were consumed, but weight's been holding steady. It actually dipped down to a new low point on Friday. I'll just have to wait a few days and get rid of this sodium "swole" to see it again.

I'm planning my menu for the next couple of weeks. Need to stock up on sardines, beans, tofu, and even more veggies than usual since Lent begins this Wednesday. I'm sure my cat will welcome the additional fish, too, LOL.

Henry, peanut butter's another great way to boost calories, and you can treat yourself to extra whole-grain bread, and olive oil. You can also have more generous carb portions, such as rice and pasta, as they're calorie-dense.

I'm still in the "cutting" (dieting-down) phase, but will switch to bulking/muscle gain mode in the summer. It'll coincide with my move to Japan, and I won't be training for anything specific at that point, so I don't have to worry about food tracking. I am already looking forward to the extra turkey and veggie sammiches I'll have then!

Other good for you high calorie foods: Avocado; olive oil dressings; olives; any type of nut butters (think almond butter, peanut butter, etc); any type of nuts - 1/4 cup has close to 200 calories; whey protein shakes made with 2% milk, flaxseeds, and fruit; banana & peanut butter sandwich, etc. It's easy to add healthy fats to your diet since they are not filling - 1 teaspoon of any type of healthy fat (olive oil, flaxseed oil, peanut oil, canola oil) is approx 50 calories. If you use a full fat healthy salad dressing (such as olive oil based), 1 tablespoon will add approx 150 calories to your diet.

Help! Does anyone have any suggestions of some high calorie food that are good for you?
emoticon

I need to bump up my calories to around 2800 per day. I have a hard time at 2300 calories without hitting the chocolate emoticon

I guess I am running too many miles for the calories am eating and my body want to hold on to every ounce.

Anyways if you know of some good treats for runners please let me know

I know there is a lot of talk about the book, and that it's been out for a while now. It must only be coming to Canada now...or maybe it's only being released in bookstores now. I could have ordered it through to the website but I ordered it through Chapters because it was cheeper...so I guess I will have to wait.

I had to pre-order the 17 day diet book and will not be getting it before after the 15. I always seem to find a way to put off the start of my diets.

but I do have to eat better today them I did yesterday. I have to run this afternoon. I ran yesterday afternoon and my stomack was upset. I don't want to go through that again today.

well got to go to work.

DH and I did Atkins a long time ago....all I remember was feeling sick from all that grease and fat and yuck! I think we only did it for 2 weeks and said no way!
South Beach is an awesome plan. We did it for over 7 months about 2.5 years ago! DH lost 34 pounds and has only gained back 10 since. I still make a lot of the South Beach recipes. It's not a hard plan either.

Gail-Iíll be curious to hear what you think about the book. My mom had me order one for her (she doesnít do the internet). She said sheís read the first few pages but hasnít put it into action yet.

NYC-Fabulous! Keep up the good work.

Beth-I would have to agree with you, I donít think Atkins is the healthiest diet either.

One more day before I weigh in and see if I kept the scale at bay.

Christy - Awesome job on the #'s. It's always gratifying to hit a new "low" on the scale. :-)

As for me, I found new motivation to keep on keeping on. DH said over the weekend (without prompting) that my abs are beginning to show... Not a six-pack, but my abs are visibly leaner. Woohoo! So no self-sabotaging with Cadbury this week, LOL!

I don't know anything about the diet. And it's on Dr Phil that I first heard about it but I never watch the episode to find out what it was about. I was just flicking the channel and briefly heard him mention the name.

I hope it's at least a good read. I am always interested all the new 'diets' that come out. Now wheather I will follow it or not, who knows.

Suezette-glad the eating is back in control I'm just sad the route you chose to take. :) Glad you're feeling better and get to run again soon though!

Finally! The scale broke 190# on Friday. I hope I can hang on to it until my actual weigh-in on Thursday.

I'm thinking one good thing came out of my injury.
I realized I was going to have to get my eating under control again since I wasn't able to exercise and burn off calories.
I have a new mindset and it seems to be working....at least for now.
I'm hoping once I can do cardio again, my eating continues in range.

Thank you for the encouragement.

Yeah not only have I broke the plateau (or should I say slight rise) I been on, but my legs feel refreshed.

I think I have been not eat enough for a very long time. The only time I would eat enough I would over eat and put on a few pounds, but then I would under eat and go immediately back into starvation mode, thus keeping a little of the weight I gained.

Next big goal is to break the 200 barrier something my body has steadfast refused to do for ever.

You guys are great....

Awesome job Henry. It also drives this point home: when we do lots of consistent activity, we need to refuel so that we can heal and recover.

My weight is on a downward trend again. It has its hiccups, spurts and stalls, and last week it was very much stalled. emoticon

Read many post about having to eat more to get the weight loss started especially if you run a lot..I did not real believe this but it is worth a try.

I well I lost 1.7 pounds this week first real loss in 4 weeks. And all I had to was increase my calories from 2000 to 2600. Did not think it would work but it did. This mean my rest metabolism went from 1000 to 2222. Hopefully the starvation mode is turned off.

Gail - that actually doesn't sound like much to me!!! but then, I'm kind of what I hear called a "bulk eater." emoticon

Struggling w/ food lately, but feeling more in control today. We'll see how I feel around 2 or 3 this afternoon, though. That's when I start feeling it slip, even with a snack. But anyway, hoping for a good run this afternoon. It's colder again, so I may have a tough time, but I really want to do a good 5. Skipped step class last night and I really couldn't afford to after the way I've been eating, but I just couldn't manage it. Oh well, today's another day!

Have a good one, guys!

well today is almost to the end. I ate well. I can't say it was fun or exciting but it was pretty good for the most part.

I ate banana, strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, oatmeal with all kinds of stuff in it, a hamburger made from extra lean beef, bun. steak, potatoes, carrots, broccoli, tomatoes, cheese, onions ketchup, mustard, relish, coffee, cream, butter and yogurt. ( i might have missed something).

sounds like a lot but really it wasn't. :-)

I'm with you Gail. The last two days I've been eating lots of fruits and veggies.
This morning had rice puffs cereal and banana for breakfast.
Going for a walk with my DH too, on the beach.

I'm on day 3 of staying on track. Hope it becomes a streak!
