I've only won one medal, for completion. (I'm a penguin runner! Lol). However, I keep every bib I've ever worn. In my old apartment I had them taped to the back of my closet. In my new house, well.... I have to find a good place for them. Maybe a collage or frame? Not sure yet.

Bibs are the numbers you wear to identify you as an entrant.

Most marathons and half marathons give out finishers medals and t-shirts. Most will give a t-shirt to every entrant and given to you when you pick up your race packet (bib/race numbers). The bigger marathons also give out some pretty good swag in your race packet too. Some will give you the t-shirt up front but some give it at the finisher as a "finishers" shirt like the medal.

The website that advertises the marathon/half marathon will let you know what they give you and may even show what the medal will look like.

Upcoming Races:
Blister in the Sun Marathon - 3 Aug
Tupelo Marathon - 31 Aug
Beat the Blerch Marathon - 21 Sep
Flying Monkey Marathon- 23 Nov
3 Bridges Marathon - 27 Dec
Texas Marathon - 1 Jan
Little Rock Marathon - 1 Mar

What are bibs? AND how in the world do you find out which races give out medals just for finishing??

Most my trophies and medals for winning or for non-marathon distances are in a big box in the closet.

I have a few trophies that are important to me on my bookshelf as bookends, and my marathon medals hanging on an accordion peg rack on the wall. Normally they are covered in coats in the winter but you can see them in the summer. They remind me of the race, I like it. :)

I have small area; this was the best way I could think to do it without the whole place turning into a shrine to fastermommy.
I prefer to keep my shrines to myself private; maybe once I have a basement. ;)

All my bibs are on a bulletin board in my home office. The PR bibs are displayed and the rest are pinned in a pile (now 2 piles) -- medals and photos hang on the bulletin board too. BUT the half marathon medals (four to date) hang on the mirror above my dresser where I see them all the time.

I have a glass topped 2 shelf end table next to my chair in the living room so I put all my medals in a decorative basket that fits perfectly on the shelf just under the top (arranged nicely) so when I look down all my medals are right there motivating me to get more "bling" for my basket.

I have a wall in our master bathroom full of all the medals and bibs on the wall. I right my times on the back of the bibs.... this way when I get up in the morning, if I don't feel like going to the gym, I walk into the bathroom to brush my teeth and see the reminder of why I should go to the gym.... to get more medals and bibs! emoticon

a couple of races ago I pinned my bib to the visor (passenger side) of my car. A couple weeks ago I pinned my relay race bib over top of the one that was already there. I am pretty sure I will take the bibs down before I trade the car.

I have a hook on the wall beside my bed that hold my bibs on a metal ring and my medals. Of course it's over the air vent, so in the summer when the a/c kicked in, they started clanging together and had to be moved on to the dresser.

I was wrong. I only have 1 medal. The 5k I ran last year didn't give out medals. So, I just have the one medal and two numbers hanging next to my desk waiting for me to run my first half in December.

I feel so far behind everyone! I only have two medals so far and they are hanging in my room, well one is and the other is in my son's room. I have all my high school medals hanging on my closet at my parent's house. I guess I need to do more races so I can get more medals like everyone else! :)

My two 5k medals are pinned to the bulletin board next to my desk at home. All my high school medals (i think have 3 or 4) are in a box, somewhere. I'm starting over. Although, I do occasionally wistfully remember that JV league championship I won... When you always run in the middle of the pack it feels so weird to be out in front. Now I'm back in the middle, again, and I don't mind at all. :)

I bought plain white key holders from Walmart that I hang mine on. Right now I have 2 of them side by side, and they each have 4 hooks on them. I have one empty hook left, which I hope to fill w/ my medal this coming weekend!

They are on the wall right before I walk into the bathroom in my bedroom, so I see them numerous times a day. I also use the power outlet that is below them to dry my hair in the mornings, so I'll look at them then too.

I hang them below my numbers on the bulletin board in my gym. I still have the # from my 1st race (1986), but I don't believe I got a medal. I have many mugs, glasses, trophies, and one wooden shoe (a Dutch town had a race). I love all the reminders. I know at some major races you can donate old medals for kids to win. I'm not there yet.

Most of mine are in a drawer.

My marathon finisher's medal is hanging on my bulletin board at work!

Any medals or trophies I have won for winning or placing in my age group are displayed in the "trophy room", aka, the bathroom. Don't ask!

Holly and John-I love those racks! And I'm talking about the medal racks.

Don’t even get me started on how many running books I have on my nightstand waiting to be read.

All two of my medals are stuffed in a drawer right now. I’m not crazy about them, so…. Now when I get my surfboard medal, that one will be on display!

I have a BIG clothesline thingy along the wall RIGHT as you walk into my house. On it are about 50 hooks, adorned with the kids' art, favourite cards, treasures (there are a CRAZY lotta leaves on there right now!), report cards... and my medals! emoticon

I think I have to come up with a good name for the wall, and maybe add one of those hook dealies! Think I know what I want for NEXT birthday...

Oh, and btw, did you see the 140.6 WITH FIVE HOOKS - eek! Five of those you'd think the hook should be gold-plated!

Robert - step AWAY from the credit card! lol!! And John, multiple clicks - too funny! I got a book this week I had no idea I had ordered! Good thing I only accidentally ordered it once.... so far.

The medals are hanging on hooks in my office so I can see them when I'm working. I also have two plaques from triathlons and they are on a bookcase in my office. Although most of my medals are from races, I have a couple from the Senior Olympics last year and a couple are from placing in underwater hockey tournaments.

One "medal" was a bottle of wine and I drank that with my mom. I tried to save the label by soaking it off, but it disintegrated. I was so disappointed since that's the only time I took my age group, and now I have nothing to show for it. Only the story to tell.

I hang them on a coat rack hook display. I can't imagine never displaying them...not at this point in my running career.
