HI,
This was the only topic I saw regarding injuries so I thought I'd ask if anyone has had Achilles problems?
My running has been whittled down to once every two or three weeks because my Achilles is so tender and inflamed. I now spend my time doing weights and biking. I've seen a dr and I've been told to rotate ice/heat and do heel drops. Does anyone have any other suggestions...I'm very frustrated.

I'm happy to report that my MRI came back and I don't have a tear! I am going to start physical therapy soon (when my schedule is a little less hectic). But I did go jog today! It was only 2 miles but I was so happy!

I went to PT yesterday, and found out that my hip was jammed. The femur bone was stuck up inside the joint (hence, the pain when running). My PT pulled it out and stretched it real good, and it feels SOOOO much better now.

Thank you all for the well wishes. It's discouraging because I'm excited for the summer road races. I went for my mri and now I'm about to start some of my PT exercises. Hopefully it's not a tear, I should know soon.

Sorry that you are in pain! I'm having a hip issue...but not during my runs. Only after. I lay on the heat pad all night following my run and that seams to do the trick for me. Do you have access to a pool? Maybe do some exercise there as well?

Feel better soon!

Welcome to my world... I had an MRI last fall to check an injury in my left hip (to rule out a stress fracture), and I have bursitis in my right hip that is a result of overcompensating because my right big toe joint hurts. I know, I'm a mess. I went to PT for my right hip because it happened 6 weeks before my marathon. It did affect my speed (to the tune of 2:10 PER MILE) and I was almost an hour slower on my time. Right now, I am doing the exercises that the PT gave me to heal it up, and hoping for the best.

Good luck to you, if you get any exercises to strengthen it up, let me know what they are - I apparantly have old lady hips and need to strengthen them.

OUCH! OUCH! OUCH!
I had some hips issues about a month ago but it's fine now. My brother, he's a physical therapist, looked at it and gave me some stretches to do. Turns out it was a tight IT Band. I just started stretching before and after working out and at least one other time per day and it went away in week or two. Sounds like your issue might be alot worse than mine, though!
