You might want to check the Garmin site and see if there are any software updates. I did that to mine awhile back and uploaded some updates it started working better and measuring more accurately (I don't use it on a bike).

I have had my 405 for about 3.5 years now, so I suspect it is just getting older and befuddled (not unlike myself at times!). But I thought I would ask if anyone else is having similar issues....
It seems to gather rather accurate data for distance when I run. But when I bike (yes, I did change the settings), it loses A LOT of miles... I ride known distances for one, and for two, my bike computer gives me distance, and the garmin will drop a lot of miles. Seems when I am traveling faster, it auto pauses and auto resumes A LOT, which would lead to the dropped miles. I can figure that in some locations, but in many cases I am in wide open farmland - cannot see why it isn't capturing me.
The heart rate monitor has also been pretty erratic lately which bugs me since I am trying to do hrm training ala the Maffetone method.
Is it really time to bite the bullet on an upgrade? Or can I limp this puppy along? I have it currently updated, and I like the way it works (when it works), and I like the garminconnect online. My husband went to a Mio (and I hate the way it reports), but I really don't want to switch products. Unless someone can give me a really great reason to?!?
Love to hear some input... ;)
