Don't have any kids around & no street lights, so I haven't had any trick or treaters since I've lived here.

We haven't gotten any kids since we have lived here. Mainly because our street isn't lit.

We live in the country so no kids. I have been to our daughter's house to pass out treats and I love the costumes.
We get so many trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood that cost is a major concern. Some years, I've given coins or stickers or pencils or little scary rubber creatures. The kids seemed happy with whatever it was. This year, I grabbed two giant bags of packeted candy corn to give out, and I have decided that it wasn't a bad choice. We ate a little, and the beggars were fine with it. The candy corn doesn't seem to trigger a binge response for me, and a small amount is a relatively OK treat. I had guiltless fun.
I liked the idea of the wrapped fortune cookies, and maybe that's the way I'll go next year.

It's tough growing up at any age.
We live out in the country, most years we never have any. The last 4 years the neighbor's brought their boys up but they just moved so don't expect anyone.
Last year I got Halloween pencils from the dollar store. We don't get a lot of kids so I bought 4 bags of twelve and was fine.
The year before I did little coloring books from the dollar store.
I'll do my shopping this weekend so will see what I can find for this year then.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning to dance in the rain.
We used to get 100's of kids and now we may get 25 or 30.
When life hands you trouble slow down and stop to smell the roses. Life is so short, live like today is the last day of your life. Enjoy.
My name is Sherry and I am from Erie, PA but live in Ijamsville, MD for the time being.
Last year I went into Chinatown and bought a big box of individually wrapped fortune cookies. It was a hit not only with the kids but the parents who were chaperoning their little ones.
Won't make it in this year.

We don't get many kids. I think we may have had one last year. We're not in a kid neighborhood.

We are in an active over 55 community and do not have the kids...across the highway is the under 55 community and they will be right there collecting happily...

OMG ~ the Halloween Weekend is upon us!! Was trying to dream up something new and different to hand out for the little beggars this year, without it being something sweet to eat.
Years ago, when I worked for a food co-op I would purchase a case of fruit roll-ups in many different flavors. They became the neighborhood favorite and the kids would frequently come over asking for treats.
I've also given out small boxes of crayons. Anyone have any other great alternatives to Halloween treats, that isn't going to tempt me to over-indulge?
My day is not complete until needle, thread & fabric meet!!
