Yes, I looked at the Coll HM website. Sounds very scenic and fun. And what awaits at the finish line: BBQ, bacon buddies, and ceilidh (I had to look it up to figure out what it is).

With such a low cap, sounds like there really tried to limit it to locals - you were lucky to get in! Enjoy! Can't wait to hear your race report.

PS: Good deal on the R'n'R fee! That race also sounds scenic!

Makes no never minds. We are over there for our 40th and RnR and I are crossing paths and I got in for only 36 ... at the time about $42. As for the scenery, I have been to Dublin and it's really just another city of a couple of million people. We will run past the zoo and when I asked if we would run through the zoo and told them about what they do in Baltimore at our zoo during the marathon. They thought it might be a good idea next year.

I will let you know if there is any real difference, though it is my first race outside of the States.

And the Isle of Coll Half is definitely a local race. Pretty much a club run. I am sure to win the America's Cup this year ... being the only Yank running.

Don't take this question the wrong way - I ask in all seriousness: Is a Rock'n'Roll in another country a quasi-American experience or is it truly a local event? There's part of me that wonders if its like going to Ireland and eating at a McDonalds where they customize the dishes a bit but you still know you're eating at a McDonalds.

On the other hand, I'm not sure what would make it a truly local experience. (Yes, the scenery will be Irish!) Irish rock instead of American rock music? Potatoes at the aid stations instead of bananas and the usual American gels? (Are their non-American gels?) Mead and whiskey at the finish?
