Sounds like a good one.

BTW. I had to bag the Hollywood half due to a family emergency. And they are actually granting me a deferral.

Once you said hilly, I was like, No Thanks!! I've done 2 HM already, but those hills just kill me! I'll check it out though.

Oh, sorry for not giving more detail. It's a bit west of DC, in Reston VA.

www.runnersmarathon.com

Looking at the website more closely, I see it is expensive: $85 and that's for early registration! (Oddly, it's the same price for the marathon. I've never seen that price structure before!) On the other hand, so many people in the DC area seem insensitive to HM prices that I guess it's not a problem - they'll still hit the cap.

It's also moderately hilly so not a good 1st HM.

That sounds like a great race!! Where is Reston? I did a HM in Vegas where they have a M, too. Didn't like the whole thing!! If they work out all the kinks, I might try that one again.

I just read about this race (it took place last month) and had to smile. From an interview with the race director:

“We wanted a race where we took the good parts of races we have run and improved upon issues we have encountered at other larger marathons.” Free pasta dinner the night before, morning packet pick up, and a buffet of post-race food that included pizza, buffalo wings, corn bread, oranges, bagels muffins and more, were a few of the perks of this low key long distance race."

Normally, I stay away from races that combine M and HM (in my experience, the HM usually gets shortchanged) but I'll have to relax my rule and try this race next year.
