Okay, so this race was AMAZING!!!! It is incredibly well organized. The race Facebook page is a gold mine of information and the race director was on there constantly updating everyone about everything. The whole course is insanely gorgeous. Everyone was incredibly nice. It was easy to get to and park before the race. No food or water fiascos. They didn't try to immediately tear down the finish line and still had volunteers there for those finishers that were coming in, even after the time limit (and my family and I stayed around to cheer them in too).
My husband ran this as his first half marathon and he is HOOKED! It was my 14th and it was definitely the most beautiful race I've done. We will DEFINITELY be back to run this one again!
This was originally going to be a Rock n Roll race this year. I guess it was Run the Bluegrass last year, but then Competitor Group took it over, then changed. Anyway, I registered early so along with hubby and we ended up paying $50 each. I didn't realize it was up to $90!!! Yikes.
I haven't run it before. I've read a lot of reviews though and have heard nothing but good things. My brf when up there and drove the route (she's originally from KY) and said it is gorgeous.
I'll definitely do a full race review with pics for anyone that might be interested in the future. Sounds like the thing to do is register early though if the price is going up.
It does look like a nice race - not too many runners, water stops every mile, and live music along the course - all sounds good! But I went through the online registration process just to see the price. (Not a good sign when they hide it like that.) $90.25 - ouch - extremely high for an HM. Have you done this one before?
