MOMMYDEAREST3: Did you perhaps run the Hot Chocolate this past weekend? I did the 15k for that as well. Talk about crowded! That is a race I am glad I did but would not do again.

Best wishes to all of you running the Turkey Trot.....maybe next year. I still haven't convinced my family that running a race on Thanksgiving is a good idea! LOL!!! Doing the Gobbler Hobbler this weekend (the 10th) as a birthday present to me. Family thinks I am crazy - they're right!

The weather was pretty yucky last year. I bet on a sunny day it would have made the course so much more enjoyable.

I had hoped to run that one this year, but I'm dealing with hip issues now. And after my 15K this past weekend, I've decided I need to focus on my running form.

I ran this last year. It wasn't bad. The entire run is in the Busse Woods Forest Preserve on a paved path, with one section on a wooden foot bridge that goes over Higgins Road. Last year the temps were in the low 40's with a heavy mist for much of the race, so it wasn't all that comfortable. There were about 1500 runners last year. I don't remember it feeling crowded at any point in the race except at the start. But it is a HM, so starting slow isn't a bad thing anyway.

There seemed to be plenty of aid stations and the race support was very good. As mentioned by another poster, the course is kind of boring, but the weather plays a part in that, because when its cold and wet, you tend to put your head down and just kind of slog through it.

I'm running it again this year, hopefully with a much better finishing time.

I haven't done that one, but I've heard good things about it from friends who did run it. The biggest complaint I heard was the course was kind of boring. Hopefully you'll have good weather for it!

Frist time this year I am doing the Schaumberg, IL HM after Thanksgiving. I am running with my SIL (it is her birthday too!).

Has anyone run this one before? It is a smaller run but the last big one of the year in Chicagoland.

I just hope it is better run than the Chicago Hot Chocolate was this past weekend!
