Sounds like a great plan. I'm working towards my first HM tomorrow however I'm not feeling very well. I wish you luck on your journey.

Have fun on your 20 miler this weekend, Timothy! The same day you're running that, I'll be doing the Larry Noel 15K at the USDA's Ag Research Center in Greenbelt.

That looks like a good one for next year. Running RailTrails is like you say a pleasant kind of boringt. I am doing one this weekend --- the Charm City Run 20 miler from Freeland to Ashland on the NCR Trail.

I had a friend who did this one last year and she loved that it was relatively flat. It was her first HM. I will be out of town that weekend or it would have peaked my interest.

WM HM is coming up (Sept 23). It starts in lovely Hancock MD and takes place on the Western Maryland Rail Trail.
It's fairly flat and there's only one turn (at the midpoint when you turn around) so it's kinda boring but a pleasant kind of boring. Certainly one of the easier HMs if you're looking for a PR or a first HM.
I ran WM HM once and might have done it again but decided to do the BV HM this year. Both are on the same day.
