I ran this half this year. I set at different kind of PR: The wettest I have every been when not swimming or bathing! LOL Seriously though, the weather totally sucked. It downpoured from the moment we left our hotel until long after we were back in it. It's a tough course, but I want to do it again sometime in better weather when I'm not wearing shoes that slosh with every step and weigh 3lbs each in water weight.

I've run this half twice. The first time was many years ago, but I did just run it this past April. You are correct on the hills. :) And it does still split around mile 11 or so. I just wanted to add that this past year it was very, very hot. They encouraged everyone to not run to their max ability and to drink water at every, single, station. I have never seen so many people get dizzy and dehydrated as I had for this race. Just prepare yourself to run in the sun and warm weather. There isn't much shade on this course. However, it is a fabulous race and I loved participating both times.

Every day is *the day.* Dream it. Live it. Love it.....with all your heart & soul.

My rule of thumb: At an event with both a half and a full that start at the same time, always do the half. (I've heard friends who do Rock'n'Rolls tell me that holds true for those events as well.) So you made the correct choice.

I am jealous :) I would love to do that event again. The birthday hat would work...My friend and I planned on running it again in pink cowboy hats and get up just for fun, but unfortunately we never did. It is a FUN event, lots of dressing up!!!!

The CMM Half was my very first Half Marathon many years ago. It was such a wonderful experience. I have done it 2 more times since, any Rock and Roll event is amazing (have also done PF Changs full and Virginia Beach half).
The actual run itself has some hills of course, since you are from Tenn you know that :) I didn't find any of them overly difficult. There is one right at the start and a few within the the run itself...you go through main streets as well as neighborhoods...It is an interesting course..there is one stretch towards the end that is a little boring, but overall the course is filled with bands and cheerleaders and just folks out to watch. (on one of the neighborhood streets, around the 10k mark I think it was, there is this cute couple that get all dolled up and have their table set up on the street with their fine crystal and champagne..its a great little mental boost to see them)
Not sure if they still do this but the half and the full runners are together up to mile 11...I signed up one year for the full and training didn't go as planned so I knew at that point I could not finish the full and took the split at the 11 and finished the half..most courses are not set up that way..but, they may have changed it since I did it, it has been a few years.
Any way, I rambled on enough, that even is special to me since it was my first so I get carried away..have fun!!!!!
