Thanks for the clearing up the mystery! (I only got two blisters so I was pretty sure those were not blisters on the medal.)

Last year, my Harpers Ferry medals actually said Freedom's Run on the *back*! Maybe I got a unique medal - when someone accidentally pasted the Harpers Ferry logo on the wrong side?

Frankly, I think this "repurposing" of medals is a wonderful use of recycled material!

Yup, it is the fort. They gave the same medal for the Freedoms Run last fall.

Looks like an iron mark to me! :) An iron that you iron clothes with, if you know what I mean?

Were there three main hills or bridges? That'd be my guess.

I did this race on Saturday in lovely HarpersFerry WV and can say I survived. If you want a hilly HM, this is for you. 1000 feet of elevation gain! My time was 18 minutes slower than the relatively flat Frederick HM a week earlier (1:54).

Unlike most HMs, this one had *fewer* people this year than the year before. It's only in its 2nd year so I suspect people learned their lesson. But I would go back - it was a beautiful course and well organized at a very reasonable price. (I paid $55 on race day morning.)

Check out the unusual medal - made locally, looks like they were hand-cut:

Can anyone figure out what the medal means? Are those hills? Bridges? Blisters? Muscle cramps?
