You are not alone in this. Planning our snacks usually is an acquired habit. It takes practice.
One small step I take is to keep items I can use such as yogurt, apples, rasins and a few other items on hand. I am on a different plan, and eat smaller meals regularly. So in the beginning, I ate more by the clock so I would eat meet my requirements.
I would portion the snack to compliment my meals. usually, 100-200 calories. Sometimes more if my activity level was unusually high.
