Not a layoff but my husbands textile plant is closing as of March 21 after plant being in business since 1917. 150 employees are out of a job, few area jobs available for so many people. He is the HR Manager of his location-he's sad that this will be so difficulty for all the employees. Our local college has had a huge enrollment. Even college grad's can't find jobs.
Well, this has effected me also(depression. sadness, grief, anger, weight gain-we are Taking Stock of our health/dr visits, Finance, Budget, my 401K loss & checking with banks to transfer my 401K so I won't lose anymore, expensive COBRA insurance for him. Thankful my weigh changed this week to a 1.2 loss tonight from a .02 & .04 gain last 2 wks. Arriving back from my WW meeting, he gave me a dr. report-probably heart blockage somewhere in his body.(3 yrs ago he had a RT/LF FEM-FEM abdominal bypass) NOW...Just waiting for our primary dr to get him a appointment somewhere soon.
We are thankful that we are in better shape than a lot of the other employees. At least he will be 65 in Oct, so back in Jan he placed a call to SS office-now he will begin drawing SS in March. Probably have to pay COBRA insurance until I can place him on my insurance in Jan 2010.
Layoff /plants closing etc. effects everyone, even people attending WW classes. How do we cope with disappointments in life? ..... as one said: There are thousands of us in this boat and if we all pray for each other and our nation and put our faith back in God where it belongs He will not let us down.
