I don't want to be a downer, but I would say it seems hard because it really is hard. I've been doing the SP plan and exercising 5 miles a day since December, and I haven't lost a single pound (my silly scale goes down and then up and then down and then up - GRRR) ... BUT I HAVE LOST INCHES!!!

I agree with everyone else ... keep at it and don't let the scale be your measurement! Have you taken measurements of your body yet? I'd encourage you to do so. Measure once a month. Eventually, the pounds will come off, but it may not happen for quite a few months.

Oh yeah, one more thing ... aerobics uses up more calories than just walking. I walk my 5 miles with a Leslie Sansone DVD. As it gets nicer out, I'll go outside and walk too just for variety, but I'll keep up with the aerobics too.

To me (67 yrs.), it is going to be hard to rev up my metabolism without getting exercise every day. It took two years to pack on the extra weight, and I know how far I've fallen after taking a 2 mile walk yesterday. It was pretty hard to keep up a good pace. My goal is to walk 12 to 15 miles a week like I did several years ago, and it was second nature. I couldn't stand missing a day then.

Yesterday's walk was a good reminder to me of how much I enjoyed being outside. I met several nice neighbors that I would otherwise never have met. I had my dog with me, and she always attracts a lot of attention. The two-mile walk yesterday was to Walgreens and back to pick up a RX. So, that's a good start, but I have miles of good neighborhoods to walk all around me. I'll set my goal to walk adjacent neighborhoods to add some interest and get some landscaping ideas.

Hang in there; we can do this!

I wonder if your body has gone into starvation mode? If that was the case seems like you would have 3 options. 1) totally splurge one day a week to trick your body into revving up metabolism, 2) maybe you could eat more of your favorite veggies, and 3) dig around the internet a little and look for ways to increase your metabolism. Take baby steps. Many people have to change one thing at a time. Some people jump in and change all at once, but non of us a perfect all the time. Sometimes finding your trigger helps. Today is a hard day for me. My brain is sure that food will help me breath and since I can't do extra exercise because I can't breath, this is a constant battle with my head. But I know so can stay on top of things. Well most of the time.

Yes, keep at it. Every little step you take is important in the long run! Celebrate the non-scale victories (NSV) like tracking all your nutrition every day, drinking your 64 ounces of water, that your measurements are changing, that your clothes are getting looser.

As for keeping track of posts and Teams, when you log into SP (SparkPeople), begin from your Start page. Under My Community (right hand side) there are shortcuts to all your Teams as well as a link called My Recent Posts, where you can look back at posts you've made.

You can do it!

Hi! Man oh man, it just seems like I keep tying to do good, but get nowhere. Kind of discouraged and sort of find it hard to keep track of posts and groups and support on here.
I'm trying to stick to a 1200-1500 plan, but I am still not losing. Grrr... Guess I will just keep at it and hope for a breakthrough soon.

Slow and steady wins the race :)
