Sparks People is a great site for guidance, knowledge and motivation. I was used to use this site but found it to be very time consuming, time I didn't have to keep it up to date. But I'm back now and I am planning on staying at least until I accomplish what my goals are. Unfortunately I have felt bad for the past couple of days and having trouble keeping food down. With an upset stomach it is hard for me to do much of anything but lay down. I've missed two days of work this week which is bad no work no pay. I have my own business and I don't pay benefits emoticon to myself. I can't wait to really get into this program when I can eat again and feel up to exercising.

I challenge you all to add a new recipe when I have found a good one then I'll get back and tell everyone what it is.

Hsave a Great Day!

I'd pretty much resigned myself to being "heavy"....a nice euphemism that made it easy to forget a BMI in the "obese" range. I had NO motivation to lose weight. But when the belly was noticeably in the way, sleep apnea was developing, and plantar faciaitis made walking and driving painful, I realized there are more consequences to obesity than needing to buy larger clothes every few months.

If I'd not found SparkPeople it's likely I'd still be stuck in the old habits of gluttony (which is NOT an exaggeration) and inactivity. I needed something different from all the other strategies I've used for weight management. I needed a strategy that is fun, compelling, and full of variety.
Even more, I needed some way to hold myself accountable.

This site was what I found, and it's EXACTLY what I need. I enjoy making my numbers match those recommended. Learning is an ever-present opportunity. And....it all works! I'm sugar-abstinent, losing weight, and exercising daily.

I hope you also find success here with us!!

Thank you for the warm welcome. I am sure the first few weeks will be the hardest since I have to change! At first it seems like everything you do reminds you to watch it and don't do this or do not do that. Like beating yourself up for no reason. So I just have to do what I can each day and not let this eat at me all the time. As you all know we do not gain weight over night and we sure cannot lose it that quickly either. So try and try again, and it will all work out. If I do one small thing everyday then at the end of every week I can say I am a success. I work at motivating people everyday here at work. I just have to reverse that motivation back at me. emoticon

Be all that you can be and God will give you credit for the rest.

You are not alone PC! I have been on and off SparkPeople for more years then I care to mention. It means we are human. I have not reached my goal weight yet but every time I climb back on the SP train, I get a little closer. I can only speak from my experience but I will tell you that in the past I have been way to rigid with myself. I thought I had to be 100% perfect with tracking food, exercising, you name it........... In other words, I set myself up for failure. I'm doing much better since I have learned to relax. You WILL succeed! emoticon

emoticon The first thing to remember is that this is not a "diet". It is a change in lifestyle. With the fast break you will learn a new approach to food and exercise. As you incorporate the lessons into your daily life you will lose weight but the lessons learned will be part of your life for the long term. You will lose weight and you will feel great!

I have been on Spark People before and just let my lack of motivtion help me pretend I was okay the way I am. Actually I am, but inside myself I know I want to lose weight and find the happiness that being the best I can be is what life is for. This is for me. I do not have to impress anyone. I have done that for years and now as I get older it just does not matter. I am happy with me. I just want of find joy in shopping for clothes and having more energy and feeling pride in myself. I have done a lot in my 60 years that I am proud of but letting myself put on unnecessary weight is nothing to be proud of. I have pretended and excused my myself with so many reasons and all of them are wrong. Time to face up and do it!! emoticon
