emoticon Measured my waist for the monthly measure and was excited about a 2 inch loss. I started with Spark during the first week of Sept. with no actual goal for inches, only a weight loss goal. I turn 65 in about a week so this is a great way to start a new year of life.

getting better and better

Congrats! Thanks for the reminder. I keep forgetting those inches. I also went down in my pants size even though I gained back my 5 lbs. Menopause has completely changed the shape of my body. It's like that joke I once heard about waking up and finding someone stole your body.

That's me, I woke up one morning in someone else's body. Now I have to figure out how I am going to live with this body in a healthier way. emoticon

Hi , so true ..I weighed myself and felt down, but on my clothes I am two sizes down so cheered me up a bit :)
I'm starting today with spark saying my goal weight for next August. I have been with a spark on and off a couple of years but have been away a while due to personal losses. I'm back and determined. :)

I am so glad I found this post. Today I tried on a skirt that I bought about 2 months ago and its big on me! Yeah! However, the scale still hasn't budged. I'm going to take everyone's suggestion and will measure myself tomorrow at the gym.

While these both can work hand and hand and both can be used effectively, the measuring and self fitness is a better gauge of how well is one doing than weigh ins. Matter of fact, there are many folks that may appear overweight but are very healthy and solid. That in it's self shows that the scale is not the best gauge of success. That being said, when one has a good idea of how much body fat one has and they stick to a good intake and exercise plan, they should be able to use weigh ins as a good indicator that they are headed in the right direction.

I question, therefore I think; I think, therefore I am; ........ I think?

I know I just decided to measure this morning and was astounded - my waist went from 39.5 to 37!! Hips from 46 to 45 ; also lost 1/2 inch on my upper arms and upper thighs; chest from 40 plus to 39; so new figure is 43 - 37 - 45 (way better than it's been for years). And yet the scale is moving down sloooowly!

My scale may appear to be hibernating, but my clothes tell the truth. I've dropped not pounds, but a whole size. I guess it's muscle!!!

Cool. This is more encouraging to me than counting weight. Thanks for joining me in this.
I know this count may be slower than weight loss for some but I think more of a true indication of our health progress! For me it will help me keep track of my colon function. My colon tends to be a "hoarder"..... Since starting the Spark Nutrition logging I find my % more balanced and I am hoarding less! Go figure.... eating way more but loss of inches!!! % ratio seems to have been my problem.

Let's go Girls!!!! INCHES go go go AWAY!!!! Onward to the goal!

Dare you before you get discouraged for not loosing to measure yourself today and then when you want to blow it.... remeasure... do that for 3 weeks instead of weighing or eating then report how many inches or partial inches you have changed!!!

If you want to measure more often, ok but remember it is week to week that counts. I have gone from 43 waist down to a firm 37 (even after eating two meals!!). Sometimes inches move as you lose in one area and put muscle on in another!

Just measure each week for three weeks. In between measures don't count unless held or increased by measure date.

Me: 2-18-2012 6" off @ 37" today!!!
