Ok ROCKPORT9, I'll take that dare - two healthy snacks it is, and I'll edit this post to let you know what I chose.

My dare for the next Sparkie reading this is to choose a SP workout video and do the workout along with the trainer, then to report back which you chose and how you enjoyed the workout (or not, lol).

UPDATE: I decided to combine two healthy snack items into one and have them after dinner - a quarter cup of pepitas combined with 1.5 tablespoons of sultanas. So good they will be a regular snack choice! emoticon

Hi. I am new here. Love this Daily dare challenge. It has inspired me to do quick little things that only take a second to make a difference in my day. I will take your dare of a new recipe and will report back what I do.

I accept your dare! I will put stuff on the free table at my garage sale. I have marshmallows and candy I sure don't need. Not only stuff we don't need, put out stuff we haven't eaten, and probably won't for whatever reason.

I try to snack on raw almonds and two small pieces of dark chocolate. If you eat the almonds one by one, and just take tiny nibbles of the chocolate, you feel satisfied.

I challange everyone who is enjoying this lovely Indian Summer we are having in the Midwest to go out and enjoy the sunshine, while getting your Vitamin D at the same time! Fresh air is a great mood booster and you'll sleep better, too! Even if you can only spare a few minutes, you'll be glad you did!

I see no one has posted lately. Is everyone still on board? I would like to join the challenge and I accept both dares to eat a rainbow of fruits and veggies and to eat healthy snacks. See you tomorrow.

My challenge is to check in everyday. I get so busy during the day and when I get home I don't want to see a computer. But I will work hard to beat this challenge.

Sharon...I accept and love your dare. I started my rainbow with strawberries on my cereal and cherries for snack. Part of dinner is a favorite new recipe...Israeli salad---cucumber, carrots, avocado, tomato, red onion, lots of parsley, garbanzo, with a splash of fresh lemon and a touch of salt. Yum!

My challenge is you eat a healthy snack and tell us what your snack was. Then, share your dare.

My dare challenge is to park out as far as possible at the grocery store or mall and walk the extra distance. This is an easy way to add a little exercise.

I ate green lettuce, red tomatoes, yellow bananas, oranges, purple cabbage, and white onions today!! Great dare!!

I dare everyone to do one exercise move that they haven't tried before. It can be any duration you want, but it has to be something that you've never tried before and add it to your routine this week.

Thanks for the welcome Sharon...and I look forward to "losing" with all of you!! :)

OK, since my arms are sore because I'm drinking my 8 glasses of water today and going to the bathroom AND doing 5 wall push ups each time all day (chuckle-chuckle), my dare for today is to go for a 15 minute walk or do a 15 minute spin on the bike today.

Thanks and have a great day!

Hi Chris....Thanks for accepting my dare. I found doing wall push-ups each bathroom visit a good way to work in some exercise. Since you accepted my dare it is now your turn to post another challenge for someone. We try to keep the dares simple and easy to accomplish so that all can be involved. BTW, welcome to the team and to this dare thread.

Hi, I'm Chris....is anyone still doing dares? Because I'd like to dare you all to remove one white food from your diet this week or next week. I've chosen to remove white potatoes and replace them with sweet potatoes. Much better for you and full of vitamins. I'm also trying to get those 8 cups of water in per day! Hi Sharon..... emoticon on the exercizes.

I will take your dare on dancing for 10 minutes like no one is watching emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

My dare is for someone to post a new, low calorie recipe that they just discoverd.

EX...I modified this from "Hungry Girl". Cook 2 oz of pasta (210 cals) (5 oz. when cooked) I used spaghetti and broke it into fourths. Added 2 cups of cooked & chopped Green Giant Steamers . I used brocolli, carrots, cauliflower and cheese sauce (90 cals) Mixed them together and it is a light version of pasta & veggies. Sooooooo good....I LOVE THIS!!!

OK...DONE...I am sure I looked a little silly but I feel wonderful. It was a great over-all workout. emoticon

I accept the exercises dare (with adjustments to fit my limitations).
I did 2 sets of seated leg extensions, 2 sets of alternating dumbbell curls, 2 sets of dumbbell hammer curls, 2 sets of dumbbell shrugs, 2 sets of dumbbell rows, 2 sets of hip flexors, 2 sets of calf raises, and 2 sets of wall push-ups.

My dare for someone is to dance like nobody is watching for 10 minutes. Have fun!

I did weigh myself, did not lose, but I didn't gain either. I took my measurements after 8 weeks, and I lost, 9 inches. So, you can see, the scale is irrelevant.
I exercised everyday. How about you? What are your nonscale accomplishments! emoticon

Thats
a lot to be thankful for, what I was thankful for, that it was a pretty day, and hubby and I walked by the creek through the woods, with the dogs. Went out for dinner, with friends. Tonight, when coming home, I could hear the frogs, croaking, and the stars were out and shining bright.
Dare for Monday, if you weigh in on Monday mornings, or any other, if the scale doesn't go down or it happens to go up, then, don't get discouraged. THink of the past week, and find some things to be positive about. For me, I haven't weighed in, it is 11:00 sunday night, and I am going to weigh in the morning. If the scale, doesn't, budge, I will, remember, that, I made healthy choices this week, exercised, drank my water. emoticon

Sharon...that is one of my favorite breakfast and favorite snack. YUM!!!

I`ll take that dare 155HEREICOME...........I have strong emoticon for Jesus. I could go on and on forever but I will name only a few.

1. Blessed that my 3rd & 4th grade Sunday school class paid attention today.
2. Blessed that my lunch (salad) was already prepared except for the dressing and the tomato because I was exceptionally hungry.
3. Blessed that I am able to lay down this afternoon and take a rest from having very little sleep last night. I did go to bed at a decent hour (9:00 p/m...but was awake most of the night)
4. Blessed to have taste buds that are able to taste this delicious diet coke I am drinking as I post this message.
5. Blessed to be able to have choices on what foods to eat.

My dare for the team is to do just 10 minutes of any type of exercize . emoticon

One of my favorite breakfasts is:
2 slices of raisin bread toasted (140 to 180 cal. depending on the brand) topped with peanut butter (2 TB = 200 cal.) and sliced banana (small = 94 cal.) for a total of 434 to 474. You can lower the calories by using less peanut butter or only half of the banana.

Here's an exercise dare: Do 2 sets of calf raises and 1 set of hip flexors. If you are unfamiliar with these exercises you can look them up on the fitness tracker page under strength training,

OOOOOOOOOOOOPs ...I forgot to post a dare. After much thinking..here is the dare..................

Post here your favorite local meal that you have created that is under 400 calories.
For instance, I love breakfast bowls, so I created a low-cal one for myself.
I pre-bake potatoes and weigh out a 3oz portion (103 calories) of which I dice it up and put in a non-stick pan and use cooking spray to coat pan.
After that is browned to my liking.......I put that in a bowl
add 1/4 c. Velveeta shreds (60 cals) and melt in microwave
scramble 1 egg and 2 egg whites (135 cals) and add 1T real bacon bits to eggs (30 cals)
Put the eggs on top of potatoes w/cheese
328 calories for breakfast and totally satisfying. emoticon and "yummy"

I am going to do the wall push ups as soon as I am done writing this, I drank 8 glasses of water, and my 5 fruits and vegs. haven't had dinner yet. Since, I am on the west coast, its probably too late, to do a food/exercise dare, so I dare, someone, to preplan there workout, or if its a rest day, then meal plan, and for tonight, go to bed at a decent hour.

Hi Sharon

I took your dare but wasn`t sure I would acheive it. I am not big on fruit so I actually ended up eating 5 servings of veggies.

Another thing that is very challenging for me is to drink more water.

So, todays` dare is to drink 8 glasses of water and report back later today. emoticon

I dare you to make an exercize plan and stick to it for 5 days. Post your exercize plan and report back each day. I just finished my 30 minutes of walking fast as I was listening to the oldies. It was 9 songs that brought back fun memories and I was getting energized by exercizing. emoticon

Today, I want to be mindful as I eat, to figure out what I like and what I don't like as a way to "enjoy less food more."
Best wishes for a successful day, all!

Hi.....I am new. I am starting an exercize routine by dancing to oldies music around my house. I do not have a good place to walk or any place to walk in...like a mall that is close. There are too many cars or too mant dogs. I did do this before when I was successfully losing weight a few years ago.I would move around to 4-5 songs and therefore I would not have to watch the clock to make sure I got 20 minutes or so in.
So my dare..is to start this today and do this at least 5 days a week. emoticon

Shirley and ICEFISHINGLADY, cook for 2 as you would have before and simply freeze the 2nd portion for later use when you don't feel like cooking. SP recommends batch cooking and freezing for everyone.

I think all of us need to look at our "reasons" or 'our picture board that vividly shows why we made the decision to get healthier both with fitness and dietary. When I think about the reasons why, then the little temptations or the lure to skip exercise- become my arch enemies toward my future happiness. I am happy now yes, but really, I know my life will be better when I am more fit and not battling my weak self...

Where do you have your motivational poster at? Can you make a mini one for your car or as a bookmark....

One other SP on here reminded us to be sure in get our eight glasses of water a day in and eat fruit when you feel deprived.

so there is my once in a great while pep talk... written for myself as well as all of you- my partners in fitness! You all are amazing!

It is never too late to make health better! You can do it!

Hi, Shirley... my heart goes out to you. My very dear husband has been gone for five years as of last October.

Yes, it's hard to cook for one. I am terrible at it. Not cooking - I love to cook! - but it just seems like too much bother for just me.

If you ever need to talk, I'm here. Oh, and I'm from Wisconsin, too - living in MN at present, though - had to move closer to my family for help when I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.

My challenge is the 3 PM cookes. Where I Work we put 4 dozen fresh homemade cookes out each day for our guests. Do you know how hard it is to stand behind them and say welcome, have a cookie and not reach for one?

I'm determined, I've decided I will not touch the cookies. I WILL NOT TOUCH!!!!

Better quality food to offset junk late night habit, but still overshooting daily goal by at least 500 calories--and of course I feel like I am eating "normally". If I really could stop eating at night after dinner, and change what I eat mid afternoon, I could loose this "overage"--ok just get back on the horse. emoticon

I haven't cooked with it myself, but I've had it at a retreat center, and it was delicious. Maybe that'll be my next cooking adventure! I've been busy using up heirloom Seminole pumpkins from the garden: WeightWatchers pumpkin spice cake, pumpkin choc chip mini muffins, pumpkin custard made with 30 cal per cup almond milk. The next pumpkin is going to be a pot of pumpkin soup, eaten with raw sunflower seeds sprinkled on top.

Stayed within calories two days in a row!

Quinoa is a grain similar to barley, an excellent source of nutrition. As I understand it can be used in many ways, such as a hot cereal or added to soups. Check out SparkRecipes.....just type quinoa in the search box to find recipes.
