Good advice on here. The bad economy affects everybody. I know it's tough when you're depressed to make yourself get up and get busy but we all really need to do it. Exercise really does make you feel better about yourself. I think it is especially helpful to have a plan or routine and stick with it daily; a daily schedule will also aid in the job hunting! I was just watching a program on Netflix called 'FoodMatters'. Their focus is on treating illnesses with vitamins and they talked about treating depression with large doses of Niacin (Vit B3). They said their minimum dose was 4000 and it seemed to have a great effect on depression. I am not a doctor and haven't researched this at all but it was an interesting argument - nutrition vs. drugs, that is. Just wanted to throw that idea out there!

So sorry to hear of your problems and know that you need to seek help there are some great 800 or 888 numbers you can call and get some counseling you need not go through these stresses by yourself there are support groups and hoping you can find just a good friend or neighbor to listen to you of course your SP are always here for you and know that you are not alone thinking of you with prayers one day at a time
Have you thought of volunteering while you're unemployed? I volunteer at a local hospital and have been offered several jobs before they were posted. There are many places that could use volunteers and it's a great way to get your foot in the door.
The economy is still tough out there, but something will come up. My son and fiance are still trying to find jobs too. In regards to exercise, take the opportunity to go on walks,try new dvd workout videos. Try taking some free courses at a continuation college. Just don't give up. Don't let the depression get you down. Try and stay positive.

I think the no job really has an impact on me. I have interviews that just don't result in anything. I have 32 years of experience and my doctorate degree. Why isn't that desireable for someone? I don't get it. I interviewed today at a retail store. I would make 25% of my usual salary. Is that all there is? I am really down about this. I think once (if I ever do) get a job I will be more active and that may help the weight. But I don't know.

Take your time learning to use them, and it seems like right now you have time on your hands. It might be a good morale booster to read success stories. Check out the SP recipes and try some healthy tasty dishes. Devote the time to tracking your nutrition & fitness and be sure to drink more water and watch portion sizes. DO NOT focus on total wgt to lose but set small weekly or monthly goals and reward yourself when you meet or exceed those goals. One of the most important tools for me personally is to open and reply to my messages every day. It keeps me focused and motivated on my goals. I just read a Sparkpeople article on the effect of exercise on menopausal women and the indications are clear that exercise helps. Those who exercised had less depression than the group who did not exercise. So for a double benefit to yourself, push yourself out of that bed and get some exercise so you can begin to feel better and get that stubborn weight to budge.
I get into a poor me every now and then when I think about what all my mistakes have cost me, but then I go back to thinking about what I have been blessed with. I heard this on the radio last week and love this. "If you only had what you thanked God for yesterday, what would you have?" It makes stop and think about everything I do have and that's what I have to focus on.

Don't give up. It is hard not too sometimes, but if you keep going the weight will come offf again. I am going back and forth between the same two lbs right now and it seems like I will never get below that, but I know eventually I will so I keep going. I hope that you will be able to find a job soon.

I'm sorry that you haven't found a job. That has to be very tough. But use your free time to ppump up your exercise. You will feel better mentally when you exercise. And the weight will begin to drop again.

I have been unemployed now for 10 1/2 months. I have everything I can do to get out of bed in the morning. I have been doing good with my eating but not so well with exercise, mostly because I'm just so depressed. And...... I have not lost a stinking pound for over a month now. Much of the time I just feel like giving up. Usually the biggest loser show gets me pumped and inspired. Although I was somewhat inspired tonite, I certainly was not pumped. Had the attitude it won't happen for me.
