Just joined Sparkpeople about 5 days ago and I think it is a great site, as it gives me lots of motivation to stick to my goals. One thing I did notice is that I put the wrong weight in it should be in Kilograms and not pounds. Will have to fix that!!

Good job on not having a Coke. For me it was Pepsi and it's been 3 weeks now. I get my caffeine from Arizona green tea powder added to my water. It's helped me a lot. Good Luck with SP.

Below zero here nearly every nite and not much above zero during the day. We had more snow before the cold so I was enjoying shoveling again til the physical therapist said I shouldn't because it aggravates the neck. I just do better when I can be outside but now too cold to walk much- emoticon I am back to posting and will have to try and exercise inside.I am still busy writing thank yous after my mother oassed away, lots to do along with neck exercises and traction. Keeps me busy.Kepp warm those of you who share my winter. Georgine

I drank at least 10 glasses of water yesterday because I was up late, not being able to settle to sleep. I kept feeling like I wasn't breathing right and it kept startling me.
I hope I do better getting to sleep tonight.
I got some cheapy crosstrainer shoes to walk in and do cardio in so I dont have to rely just on workshoes that are steel toed and the Biggest Loser cardio workout DVD at the mall today. Talked to the clerk as I paid for it about SparkPeople , she was young and round like me, and she sounded pretty enthusiastic. I am hoping she will check out spark people soon.

Thanks for the SparkGoodie Jules. I drank 8 glasses of water, took a short walk, ate 5 fruits/veggies, gave a team member a SparkGoodie, smiled at people when we went out to dinner. I think that's all.

Checked a health concern one day can't remember which one! emoticon
Am trying to work out how to give a team member a spark goodie.
Didn't do the exercise of the day went for a 30 minute walk instead, since I'm starting over I don't want to crash and burn.

1. Add the exercise of the day to your exercise routine. (Couldn't find it!!!, so I drank my 8 glasses of water instead). I DID A SHORT WALK OUTSIDE TODAY.
2. Drink all 8 glasses (8 oz. each) of water. WORKING ON THIS.

3. Check up on a health concern in the Condition Centers and/or Health News. (Read an article on Myesthenia Gravis. Unfortunately, my ex-mother-in-law was recently diagnosed) DIDN'T DO THIS.

4. Add 5 or 10 minutes of stretching to your exercise routine. DIDN'T DO THIS.

5. Eliminate "white" from your diet. Use instead whole grains like brown rice, multi-grain breads, multi-grain pastas, sweet potatoes. I HAD BISCUITS TODAY.

6. SMILE! Smile at everyone you see today. It will make you feel good and they will wonder what in the world you are up to! I SMILED AT PEOPLE TODAY.

7. Give one of your teammates a spark goodie to encourage or motivate them. DID THIS.

I know Omron has some good equipment for measuring steps that I believe counts your calories. Perhaps they will have a heart monitor, too.

I think I can definately at least do a few of these. Thanks for the motivation. Also can someone recommend a good heart monitor to use for exercise and counting calories burned that is not too dificult to use?

The song that has the most meaning to my is I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack. my daughter got me this song when my husband left me. I had just got let go at my job and I was still battling brain cancer and epilepsy . Thanks, I will try to start by adding an exercise to my routine. I'd like to start walking but it is too cold out. I figured out that if I walk around my house (inside) it is 245 steps. It's boring but at least I can add some walking now. ALSO, WHAT ARE SPARK GOODIES?
