4 days after starting this post my dear mother-in-law passed away. It has taken me this long to get my focus back on my exercise and meal plan, but I'm back on track without having done to much damage. Today is the second day of my new start.
I want to lose 2 lbs in the next 10 days and begin developing the habit of doing cardio for at least 30 minutes 5-6 days per week and strength training at least twice per week.

Since I need to lose 36 pounds by June of 2010, I only need to get rid of 4 pounds a month. That certainly seems doable. I plan to keep off as much red meat and pork as possible, even if it means my daughter has too many leftovers. The meat seems to be what does me in, and my daughter seems to believe she HAS to have meat every night. She doesn't eat fish unless it's shrimp or fish sticks, and I can't think of any dish she'll consider appropriate that doesn't contain meat. That's what's put on the pounds, on both of us. I'll let her worry about her poundage; mine is enough for me to worry about. So, four pounds must be missing from this body by Halloween!!!

My goal is to lose 3 pounds this month. My joints are already complaining about the cold. I had hoped it would be better this year. So my goal is to find exercise that works with the aches and pains.

Hello! Haven't been using Spark People as I did earlier this year. It's been a few months since I have been active. Gained about 3 pounds back, lost, gained -- Whew! A merry-go-round! My goal for Oct is to lose a pound a week and get back to walking.

Linda, that is a good way to avoid disappointment and think how happy you will be if you lose more. Good luck.
My goal is to lose 3 pounds this month. My weight loss has been slowing down, so not to feel discouraged, instead of my normal four pounds a month, I am going to shoot for 3 and not get upset that I didn't meet my goal.

My goal too is to get back on track. Unforunately, sitting around in an ICU waiting room for over 2 weeks does not help you lose weight. I have gained so I am starting back on track and see how much weight I can have off by Christmas.
