Betty, I like zumba 2 better than the first one. I found going to a class makes it easier to learn. But I am 51 and a slow learner. And it really doesn't matter how well you dance just keep moving.

Thanks for this! I just got my Wii over the weekend and am trying to decide which fun game to start with. Zumba has always seemed like a fun idea to me but I don't dare take a class. lol I just wasn't sure if it would be too much for a beginner. Is there much difference between the 2 out?

Thanks for the reminder LadyDiscipline. These are a retro kind of sneakers that I bought specifically for indoors. They have a flat, only slightly waffled sole. They grip just enough. Strangely enough they remind me of what were referred to as "jazz shoes" in my ballet classes as a kid, those soft little shoes that are may be enclosed, but are basically a very soft suede or split suede sole and a shoe lace. I used to love those. :)

I stand watch for hope, and hope for it not to desert me.

Be careful in regular sneakers, they tend to grab and stick when you don't wan them too in Zumba. They can cause you to twist your knees and what not. You can also start off just not doing the jumping and still burn a lot of calories.

Thanks Val_Lynne and LadyDiscipline, I appreciate the info!
I kind of figured that I could add some velcro, and also thought it might work in pants, as well. Thanks for confirming!
I appreciate the caution on the impact. I have a pair of sneakers I only wear indoors for when I feel like I need some extra support while exercising on these hardwood floors.
I'll wait to see if they get cheaper in the new year.

AIRPEACH: the belt is 50.5 inches long. But the velcro goes right up to like the last 1/4 inch on each end. If that's not long enough you can easily get some velcro strips and just velcro them to the ends until you don't need them anymore. If you just reverse the velcros you won't even have to sew them to the belt. I used to do that with my leg weights whenever they had to go over the thighs because even when I was in shape I had big thighs.

I would definitely invest in some dance sneakers because there is some serious impact and if you injure yourself you are hindering your training.
Start off with the lower impact ones and you will still work up a sweat. Cool thing about it is that you do not have to be absolutely perfect because you are only playing for yourself not against anybody.

AIRPEACH, I have zumba for the Wii. I never use the belt, It makes me too hot. So all I do is tuck the remote into the top of my exercise pants, works just fine.

Hey All, I've had JD2 for a while now and like it, but don't like that I have to hold the remote. Zumba or Zumba 2 looks neat, but can anyone tell me what the size/length of the belt included is? Is a belt included with both 1 and 2? I'm worried it won't be long enough, since I'm still very fluffy. Thanks!

I've done some more research and found that the belt likely won't fit. My hips are bigger than what they list as the max length. I'm also concerned that it will even work properly if I make an extender, or if it will ride up as I move, requiring constant adjustment. Has anyone else here played this game at 300lbs+?

Just got Zumba 2 for my birthday. Loving it!! Had the first one already but 2 is so much more fun. I've been doing it every day for the past week and a half or so and I've lost 6 pounds. Of course I also started tracking my calories again as well. Everybody should get this game. So much fun.

I just started using zumba for wii I do the 20 minutes beginner's routine. How do I get a longer time? Is it based on how well I do?

I totally agree with you. I did the workout last night. It felt great! I couldn't make it to my actual Zumba Class so I did the Wii zumba.

I must have done something weird when I did Zumba because my left arm is numb. I think I pinched a nerve in my neck. I will have to resort to Walk it Out and Leslie Sansone for a while.

I love both as well. In fact, I catch myself in a game like Walk It Out, actually tossing in the moves from both Zumba and JD2!

I was worried I hadn't played Zumba in a week or two (slightly addicted to gettin' my rainbows), that I might be slacking... but actually my endurance HAD improved, and when I did Zumba last night, I was able to do a few more bouncy/jumpy moves (where before toes pretty much remained on the floor but I lifted heels to bouce). So, don't sell any movement short!

Time to mix it up again tho', and I'll probably do all the songs I enjoy in JD2 tomorrow, and take a day off WIO (or do both again LoL)

I went back to Zumba yesterday and today. I actually found it quite the workout. I did party mode and got through training 1 and 2 beginner. I can open Intermediate tomorrow. I think all the dance games get your heart rate up. This one I found to be more like the moves you find with Leslie Sansone believe it or not. Just up a few notches.

I have JD 1& 2 and just tried zumba today. I only did the 20 min beginner session. But I had a blast with it! Totally loved it! As far as tracking calories I just used the cardio dance on the SP track it includes zumba on it.

Fall down seven times, get up eight.

I have Zumba and JustDance 1 and 2. I think Zumba got boring the fastest for me. I guess it helps me to stay occupied longer when I know the songs in JD and can dance and sing along ;D

I bought Zumba and Just Dance 2 just recently. So far I've used Zumba 2x and JD2 4x.
I like Zumba but you really have to learn the choreographies to do the routines but the learning videos have little time for you to learn them.
Just Dance 2 is actually more fun than I thought. I used to think I'd get bored with the songs but so far I'm enjoying it very much. My favorite is the Indian song because you do a lot of repetitive moves with your arms and it's a nice way to work out.
So far I've enjoyed JD2 more than Zumba, because on JD2 you do the routine of the song (about 3 minutes) while on Zumba a beginner's routine is 20 minutes. If you aren't comfortable dancing or have a hard time keeping up with the 20 minutes, then Just Dance 2 is better for you.
Also, a great thing about JD2 is that you only have to move your arms if you're too tired to move your legs. With Zumba you have to move your whole body, specially your hips because that's where the belt is.

I haven't seen the calories burned anywhere on Zumba, but maybe it is an option...not sure. I use a heart rate monitor which tells me the calories I burn each session.

I just got Zumba last week, so it's new to me!! Been using JD2 since January and I can tell you by just doing the classes with Zumba, my heart rate is in fat burning range much longer than doing JD2. I've hit a plateau with my weight loss so I bought Zumba hoping that maybe my body just needed me to do something more intense. I haven't even gotten to the songs yet, so I'm curious to see what everyone else thinks.
