This is interesting because the past 4 years there has been a debate as to what constitutes as water consumption. Most other diets, etc now say to make at least 5 of your 8 cups water but all liquid counts. I still count only water. I did miss the Q&A in the back about tea...maybe I read it but never really took it in. Tannins will deplete your iron absorption if you drink too much tea. Had a friend who a couple summers ago tried to give blood at a blood drive. His iron was too low and the first thing they asked him was how much tea he drank....of course he drank a LOT since he was an admitted ice tea addict! They told him to lay off it a few days and come back!

Oh boy.. I almost missed this one. Yesterday was a super-busy day.. I usually just work mornings, but subbed afternoon, then immediately after kids got off school, we headed down to our church youth group fundraiser. whew.

Interesting reading the replies here.. I had no idea about prunes, because I don't generally eat them. I do drink coffee & tea, and I do know that he mentions them as something odd.. zero water? We can't call them a "water" because the caffiene counteracts the water - other plans I've been on have mentioned that as well.. like atkins & south beach I think... so that part I knew, but you're right.. I don't remember him mentioning to drink it BEFORE the meal. I've typically been drinking mine AFTER. And Cinna, yah - decaf is fine. I drink decaf half of the day.

My co-worker has my book and I NEED it back! I am thankful for all you pros who are so committed to following this awesome plan!!

For the prunes, I would go with what the serving size says on the package. But that's just me :)

Oh wow! All the times I've read the book and I didn't realize that there is a max of 4 coffee/teas a day. I sure have never followed that rule! And I'll be watching for the prune answer. I was eating more than 3 for a serving. I do wish the book was a little more clear on those little things. Thanks for checking.

I'm super regular, too... I bought them to save money lol Big bag, $6, several servings, I'm sure... as opposed to almost $6-7 for a bag of apples at 2 a day, lasting less than a week for Ivan and myself.

Thanks on the compliment... you'll get back to it... and we'll be celebrating this together! :-)

So excited about the 17 Day Diet. It has truly taught me new ways of eating and being healthy. Although I've not followed the daily cycles since I finished Cycle 2 at the start, I do tend to choose only foods from all three cycles. You didn't really miss it. The sample menus list green tea with the meal... It isn't until the Q and A near end of book that he says something about drinking it an hour before. And perhaps that is for the Earl gray kind. It is not too specific.

As for the prunes, I just charged up my Nook and did a search. I only found mention of prunes as a low sugar fruit. not how many are a serving. or how often. and i am one of those very "regular" people as far as that goes.

BTW, emoticon on losing that 100 pounds!!! what an accomplishment. I got somewhat close and then bounced away. But i will get there.

Green tea before meals? How did I miss that??? LOL

So, I would guess that decaf would be okay?

wow... if i answered off the top of my head i would have been wrong. i would have said it was ok except it won't count toward water intake... but NO... on page 228 of the original hard covered book, Dr. Moreno says 4 cups max of caffeinated tea or coffee. and the tea one hour before meals because of something about tannins and iron.

i am still looking for the prunes answer.

#1... anyone have more than only the 3 cups of tea a day? one with each meal? I have one with every meal and ONLY have water the rest of the time... however, lately, been craving a nice Earl Grey or Chamomile... (in addition to the water and the green tea)... Unsweetened of course... Can we have tea?

#2... Prunes... 3 is a serving, right? Anyone have these on a fairly regular basis? I'm trying to cut down costs and it was cheaper to get these... so I was thinking of having a serving as one of my fruits... and I do know it's Cycle 1 friendly.

Thanks everyone! :-)
