I had steel cut oats with a half tablespoon of peanut butter mixed in, a half banana, and 1/4 cup of skim milk. And I am full. This kind of breakfast keeps me happy for at least 4-5 hours.

Doesn't sound like breakfast but it was good ...

A MorningStar Mediterranean Chickpea burger, 50 calorie LaTortilla Factory whole wheat tortilla and green beans. Tasted sooooo good!

Skipped again...ran myself out of time emoticon

Lunch was my wonderful kale and bean soup w/LS V-8 added...yummo!
Snack will be a grapefruit: they were on sale this week...I'd better chow down on 'em...I don't want to waste them.

FBS was 241 this morning...a real blessing as that was my after dinner reading too! I am SO thankful. I'm doing damage control until I am clear of this dark pit!

Weight was 202.6 this morning! emoticon another blessing!

Wheat toast, BC has been floating from 140 - 160 in the mornings and no matter what I eat or don't eat the day before or snack the night before, I still have a higher count in the mornings.

Holy cow!! I remember all that testing from when I had gestational diabetes...I was soooo glad when they told me I didn't have to do all that anymore!! Although the Diabetic Diet they put me on made me drop 50 lbs while pregnant!! lol (didn't do much when I went back on it after I had my son!?)

I also found some skinny enchiladas and chimichanga recipes...I love any Mexican food really lol

For breakfast, I have been rotating between smoothies and eggnog.

The smoothie is a banana, PB2 (powdered peanut butter 45 cal per 2T!!), 1 cup skim milk, 1t chia seeds and recently started adding a couple handfuls of baby spinach, really yummy, filling and 2 servings of freggies!!

The egg nog is a recipe I picked up somewhere, eggs, milk, sugar substitute, vanilla, and sometimes Chia seeds and cinnamon. I really like this one because I get tired of having eggs for breakfast really fast so this is a fun way to "eat" eggs for breakfast :) Here's the link in case you would like to try it!

Snack wise - I love freeze dried Fruits and veggies! Trader Joe's has a great selection of fruits. Target has fruits and veggies. They are a little on the pricey side, but if you buy the bigger bags and divide them up into serving size portions, it's not too bad.

My Mom laughed at me when I told her what I had, Debbie! Yours sounds SO good, and more my style...but the soup was ready to put in containers, I was hungry so Voila'... emoticon At least I HAD breakfast!
I'll cook up some yummy oatmeal when I'm off Tuesday/Wednesday so I can grab and go. I do a pot of it, add brown sugar splenda, chopped walnuts and dried cranberries. It's SO good. I pack it in my one cup containers and I'm good to go. I might add a dash of FF half and half when I eat it.

My snack today will be my Bento Box yummies: broccoli, celery, carrots and a bit of Salmon spread I did up this morning with a few of those addictive Crunch Master rice crackers. They now carry them at Wal-Mart! A big blessing since I don't have a Sam's card and I used to snatch some my co-worker left behind. Now I don't have to "steal" hers! emoticon

Kudos to all of you!

I have been gettting back in the habit of eating breakfast, usually I have a pb & j on light wheat bread with coffee with splenda plus fiber. Sometimes I will have a latte, usually from the local coffee house which is about 307 calories, but I have been making them at home with sf syrup for about 80 calories. Then, I still have my pb & j and it's only about 380 all together!!!
As far as snacks go, I haven't been eating them because I have been WAY over on my meals so I skip the snacks.

Breakfast - either porridge with skimmed milk, ground almonds, dried fruit and pumpkin seeds or ciabatta/bagel filled with cooked sliced tomatoes with cayenne and black pepper, 20g low fat cheese melted and 1 rasher very lean back bacon.

Snacks - fruit like pear, apple, clementine, banana or protein like a slice of very lean ham or chicken or hard boiled egg plus lots of drinks keep hunger at bay.

Snacks: I did up some "bento boxes"...with broccoli, carrots, celery, teeny container of sunflower/pumpkin seed mix, teeny container of cream cheese spread (2 TBS each) and Crunch Master crackers..yummy...tho I didn't need a snack today, I brought two containers to have on hand for the days I do...

Greek yogurt with fruit and/or nuts added
Cottage cheese and an apple or some other fruit
1% milk, nuts, and an apple or some other fruit
Oatmeal with nuts, fruit, and milk

Snacks:
Cheese and fruit (I keep 2 - 3 types of reduced fat cheese on hand such as string cheese, sharp cheddar, and hot pepper cheese)
Greek yogurt with fruit

An apple with peanut butter

I need to figure out some snacks that include vegetables and protein.

I eat low carb due to diabetes and the more carbs I eat the more I crave them. I had two eggs with a small handful of bacon bits and some canned asparagus, scrambled together.

I usually switch out my breakfasts. It helps me not to get too board of eating the same thing all of the time. Either I have:

1. oatmeal with some type of fruit cut into small portions and added to it

or

2. 2 scrambled eggs omlet with 1 stalk of celery and 3 cherry tomatoes added in it.

These seem to work for me for now. I may change even those up sometimes, but I usually like to stick to the same things for my first meal of the day.

Breakfast today:
Nectar Sweets Protein Mix
2 cups 1% Milk

Theory behind it- milk has carbs and protein and protein mix has protein... will keep me full longer and give me energy. Protein mix helps me lose weight. I don't get enough protein naturally in my diet and was told by both my dr and a hospital staff that protein being added to your diet promotes weight loss. I like Nectar Sweets best because it mixes well and has many flavors.

Breakfast and snacks

I keep hearing how important it is and it does set the stage for my day. I get full and crave less through the day by eating a good breakfast and snacks. But what do you eat? Let's start talking about it! Go to the tread in the challenge area about breakfast ind snacks and list what you have for breakfast and snacks. This will give us all ideas of how to stay full and keep interested in a variety of food.
