Today I did yardwork, mostly bending and stretching, for about 4 hours followed with some exercises from the fitness plan using 2# weights. Even got in the floor and did some crunches. I've been told to stay off the treadmill until after surgery.

Due to injuries to my body, and awaiting a knee replacement, I have been swimming, doing a bit of strength, and 10 min on the treadmill( It's all I can manage right now)

My son is letting me borrow his treadmill for a while. I plan on walking during a favorite show or two.

In a prebariatric program hoping to get approval for weight loss surgery.

I recently injured my arm/shoulder. Feared that I might have torn my rotator cuff. I went to the MD yesterday who thinks I just severely strained a muscle and I have a lot of inflammation in it, so she gave me a shot of steroids and is having me take steriods for the next few days. So now I had to change up my entire routine secondary to pain. I have found the stationary bike, which I can do while reading. So I have picked up a good book, started pedaling and reading. it is a win win for me right now!

Because I got motivated by two Spark Articles (see my current blog for an explanation in greater detail), I DID attempt Leslie Sansone's 2 mile aerobic walk....and I DID IT. Asthma has been a problem lately, but even despite that, I finished.
That was yesterday. Today I did strength exercises with weights and some using the stability ball...for 30 minutes and then just had to walk (to our community office --only about a quarter of a mile each way, but it's up a steep hill ((coming home)) ...) Puffing and saying "ouch" with each step I made it. the problem was that I had a messy spill this morning and in my panic and attempt to keep it from spreading, I bent down...and I am NOT supposed to do that just coming out of two hip replacements....So now I'm hurting...Hopefully hurting will be the end of it. But anyway...I"m psyched that I've gotten that far so far.

Ergo-meters are great and yes, you can use some for your legs. If you hold your tummy in and practice contracting it and letting it out while you pedal, it might help.

Pain is such a nuisance! You're doing really well. Small goals.

Although my PT gave me the "all clear" to go back and do Leslie Sansone again, I have been in WAY too much pain to consider it. So instead, I've been doing NOTHING other than my PT exercises. I know I really need to do something aerobic to burn off this tummy which has been steadily growing since my last two surgeries a month or two ago....I have an ergometer,...which I know Beth, you use for your arms...but it can also be used for the legs....I think that is what I should definitely try this week. say 15 minutes on the arms and 15 minutes on the legs. Manageable , right???

It sounds like it should be...it all depends on pain. Like EVERYTHING always depends on pain....but that's my goal for this week....to do that two or three times this week.

I am really going out on a limb and giving zumba classes a go. I know there is no way I can keep up with the class, however it's better than sitting on my tush, which is what I do most evenings. Classes are Monday and Wednesday nights.

I do all my exercise at home. I alternate daily between all my Wii workouts. I have Wii Biggest Loser Challenge, Wii Fit Plus, My Fitness Coach, and Zumba.
I too modify all the exercises like the Zumba, jumping jacks, and anything that impacts my knees. But I work up a sweat and am proud of it.

I used to go to Curves but had to curtail that because of cost - so now I have gone back to Chair Exercise - some of you will know that Idid onl;y chair exercise, graduating from staggering through 1 exercise to doing complete dvds - and losing a lot of inches during that time - anyway I decided I needed more so started at Curves almost a year ago - and now at home again I do chair exercies again and 20min Zumba every day!!
I just love Zumba - but I modify the steps to protect my knees!! Also there is no way I could rotate my hips like those young things in the DVD - but I try - however its a good job I am doing it in private - elegant it is not!! But its fun and fantastic exercise!!

I enjoy water aerobics, using the elliptical (currently my go to!), Nia, walking, riding my bike and my airdyne. I also have a gazelle I use quite a bit at home. I'm working hard to branch out and try new things.

I mostly use the treadmill. I really like walking outside but foot/back problems make the treadmill better for me since I can just stop if I need to. I used to love to lift weights but I haven't done it in years. I have a wii and wii fit that I haven't tried but I plan to. Being so overweight with pain is so hard because there's so much I'd like to do but I can't and it's frustrating but I'm game to give just about anything a try.
