I am not sure that I like this going to singles aspect of the challenges. One of the things that pushes me especially during this time of year is not wanting to let my team down. Let me know if you decide to do some kind of group challenge either on this group or another group. I would love to be a part of that. I will continue to push myself through the individual challenge months but would love to have a group aspect. Keep up the great work through the next couple of months ladies!!

Jessica: I am definately interested if in participating if it all comes together. Keep me posted any new info about it please. I think the only reason I have done so well this far is because I know that other people are counting on me to keep going. That motivation is my driving force and I desprately need it.

I'm a little bummed about doing individual challenges for the next three months too. The threat of letting down the team motivates me to work a little harder, and I'm not sure that individual challenges will "do it" for me...but I'm going to give it a shot anyway! I'll try it for a few weeks and see how it goes.

In the meantime, some of us have been talking about the possibility of starting up a little team challenge that would run in conjunction to M2W (but under a different name) for the Winter months...I think the idea is going to be that we will basically do the same thing that the M2W challenge is doing that week so that we don't have to stress about keeping up with different quotas for the week, but forming teams ourselves so that we can still have the comraderie and motivation of the challenge. Let me know if any of you are interested!

I definately think checking in on this thread is a great idea. I am a little bummed out that it will be individual challenges the next 3 months. It takes away some of the competition aspect that I find very motivating. So I think I will need all of the motivation I can get, especially after completely slacking off the last 3 days. I sure hope that doesn't mean the difference between us being in 1st vs. 2nd.

Wow, another month gone! Is it just me or are they going really fast!????

I like the idea of continuing to check in! I think it is a great idea!!! Its going to be different not having the full out monthly challenges, I have gotten so I quite depend on them. So it would be great to keep that encouragement going!

Jessica sending positive thoughts your Grandpa's way! I hope he is better soon!

Way to get those workouts in!!! Today is our final team day!!! Since we will be challenging individually for the next 3 months, do you all still want to check in from time to time on our radish thread. I think it would be nice for advice and encouragement.

Sorry I was MIA yesterday guys...between Black Friday shopping and having to sleep in because I was up until 4AM and all of the company we have right now, I just couldn't get on here!! I did keep track of everything AND managed to get in some Turbo Fire and Turbo Jam last night, so hopefully, it will be enough!!

I ended up doing GREAT on Thanksgiving, between the Turkey Trot, insane lack of time, showing up late for dinner, and Black Friday shopping :) I'm thankful that everything worked out to my fitness benefit for the day!! No over eating, no snacking on junk while waiting in lines, and I kept the coffee to a minimum! I agree with all of you...it really is amazing how far we've all come in our perceptions of a "good" holiday! We don't have to overindulge to still enjoy ourselves, and can make it through a holiday without going nuts!!

My grandfather ended up having to go to the emergency room last night...he's 86, and has mild pneumonia in his right lung, so I'm trying to use ALL of my connections to get him treated quickly! I'm thinking I'm not going to have a whole lot of time for the rest of the day to be on here (but who knows? We're just waiting for a gallbladder ultrasound right now to rule out gallstones and I'm trying to convince them to give him one dose of IV antibiotics and a prescription for orals so that they can drive home...better hospitals in South Florida, and my 75 year old grandma won't have to stay here for a week while he's in the hospital if he gets admitted with pneumonia.)

Sounds like you all did well with Thanksgiving. This shows that we can still enjoy the holiday with a little planning and remembering that everything in moderation tends to work better than depriving ourselves and then gorging on everything in sight. I also just stuck with one plate of food. My DH made a wonderful meal while I was at work so I came home and enjoyed some wonderful cooking.

It's cold and windy here and I know I need to go to the gym after work but right now I just want to chill on the couch. At this point I think I will probably head home and spend some time with the family and then head to the gym after the kids go to bed.

Keep up the great work ladies!

I agree that it is cold, grey and windy. That combined with my night from hell at work is making it very difficult to do anything but sleep today. Hopefully I will wakeup a little more and get my butt in gear. I am glad to hear everyone else did well on Thanksgiving as also.

Have a great day everyone!

Sounds like you guys did great! I was happy that I didn't have 2nds like I have year after year! Ate plenty of veggies that I was too full for dessert. That was a first, so I was happy about that later. Today we had a "turkey burn" 2 hour zumba, and now I need a nap!! Its one of those kind of days, cold, gray, and windy, so I'm going to cuddle with my daughter and nap! Enjoy your day!!!

I second that Leann...I was stuffed on 1/2 of what I would normally consume!! I actually don't care all that much for the typical Thanksgiving food...but I LOVE the pie. So I made sure to only taste a few things and indulge on a sampler plate of pies. I also indulged a bit on the Mimosas...yummy! I had one too many and was feeling guilty later. I refused to take any leftovers from either feast I attended (other than a little white turkey meat for sandwiches) which is making it very easy to jump back on track this morning with my oatmeal!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I think that working the holiday has actually been a blessing. It really took away the "wanting to eat way too much". Because I worked I had a normal meal at work, a snack on the way home and came home and slept until about 20 minutes before time for the big lunch. I got a little of everything I wanted and did not get seconds. Even so I was STUFFED. I don't know how in previous years I was able to eat so much without making myself sick. The food was wonderful and I really enjoyed what I had, but I don't want that much food at once for a while. I had to guestimate on my tracking, but I don't think I went over that badly.

I hope everyone else had just as successful a day as I did.

Jessica, what a tough position to be put in. I agree with what the others are saying with looking at some of the protein shakes as something that might be more nutrient rich and still have the calories you need. Maybe those and some fruit for your snacks might help you reach your goals. Sometimes it is so much easier to reach your goals by cutting out calories than by increasing them. Please let us know what you find that works.

WAY to go ladies we ROCKED this week!! I am so impressed! I know we all worked hard and it's so nice to see that we have really earned our place in the top! Keep up the great work!!

emoticon It's Thanksgiving and right now I am so thankful that I have a job even if it means working Thanksgiving. At work we have been trying to point out all the things we are thankful for regarding our jobs and co-workers and it's actually been so much turning complaints into things we can be thankful for. It just reminds we that we need to recognize all the good we have in our lives and sometimes it's better to be thankful than to complain.

Jessica, please don't apologize. Although we have lots of the same traditions, turkey, family, pumpkin pie, etc, it isn't as big for us as Christmas is and is a lot quieter in comparison. If any of you are interested, here is an excellent article from wikipedia (my second most visited website emoticon ) that shows the origins of both our holidays and some history on Thanksgiving. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving

Brooke, you are blessed, give your angel lots of love this weekend!

And just because it isn't my Thanksgiving doesn't mean I will let any of you drink alone!!! emoticon !! So just know I will be tipping one (or two) back with all of you tonight! emoticon

Sabrina--I'm SO sorry!! I'm a dink about remembering things like that...so happy belated Canadian Thanksgiving to you! Is it the same as ours, or do you guys do things differently?

Brooke--Thank you for "indulging" a little too...makes me feel better about my slightly-buzzed posting last night. :)

Turkey Trot was AWESOME!! 90 minutes of Spin first thing in the AM is my new favorite. :) I wish I could talk them into doing this everyday!

So far...I've had about three cups of cubed canteloupe today...getting ready for a little OJ and protein powder. I'm going to KILL the veggies tonight at dinner, and be a portion Nazi about the rest so that I can indulge in a piece of Pumpkin Praline Cheesecake! :)

I'd like to tell you guys that by this time last year, I'd already had a giant fried fatty breakfast, and at least 5 servings of crackers and cheese and chips and dip, not to mention all of the "tasting" while cooking. I feel ACCOMPLISHED already today...no matter what the rest of this day brings!

Jessica, glad to hear you are feeling better today! We all need that day to feel, and then back at it with a vengeance!

Leeann - Working on or around a holiday is never enjoyable. Hopefully you can still enjoy the time with your family!!

Everyone please enjoy your holiday festivities this weekend! We celebrated our Thanksgiving in October as I am Canadian, so I am not partaking this weekend, but I am sending my thanks to all of you for the support and encouragement I have received from each of you!

Be happy, be healthy!

I got up super early this morning and got in an hour of cardio and ST, so I could take a nice long nap before coming to work tonight. Tomorrow I plan on a day filled with sleep, Thanksgiving dinner, maybe if not too cold and time allows, and more sleep before returning to work again. What a way to spend the holiday emoticon .

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

Hey guys!! Happy day before Thanksgiving!! I'm doing a LOT better today, emotionally. Thanks for all of your advice!! I'm compiling a lot of it for the "new" plan of attack! I guess yesterday was just a "down" day...every time I think I've got things under control, I find out I didn't (again), and have to go back to square one. It's just frustrating!! But I'm over my tantrum, and ready to solve the issue instead of cry about it!!

Today was CRAZY!! I still managed to get in Spin and ST...not much else though :) And...some alcohol. Which I normally stay away from, but I succumbed to peer pressure from my GRANDMA!! :) Everything in moderation, right? :)

Outside of the Turkey Trot tomorrow (which I've opted to do as a Spin class, instead of the 5k...I'm still not ready to "galumph" in public), I'm probably not going to get much in either, but I'm trying to hold onto the fact that I'm at least doing SOMETHING...this time last year, I was just worrying about how to fit more pie and gravy into my Thanksgiving meal. :)

I hope you all have an AMAZING day tomorrow!! Indulge responsibly, acknowledge that Thanksgiving is only ONE meal, and won't ruin your entire plan, and enjoy your families!! Feel free to stop by the thread if you can tomorrow night to share how you did for the day!! I also might be cool to share how your Thanksgiving this year has differed from your past Thanksgivings...maybe put things into perspective and let us all feel AWESOME about our progress?

FYI--I'm going to be "Black Friday"-ing my happy behind off tomorrow night!! If you're going...I hope you enjoy yourselves!!

I made a quick trip to Old Navy today, they were having a big sale on their clearance items before noon today, and I was in there with lots of clearance crazy people. I think I will buy online! Or wait til next week. I did get some workout items though. Jessica~granola is something you could add in aswell, with nuts, in your high cal. smoothie! lol ...
I know tomorrow will be super busy, I'm hoping for the best, I hope to get a workout of somekind in while I'm getting everything ready for Thanksgiving. This time last year, my daughter got to come home from the hospital, I have lots to be thankful for!!! (She was a preemie, 2 lb 2 oz, stayed 56 days in NICU) So It makes for an even more special day for my little family!! I hope everyone has a very blessed Thanksgiving!!

Jessica: I think the other girls are right about talking with a nutritionist. That is a tough position to be in. The only food suggestion I have is snacking on nuts, assuming you don't have an allergy. They tend to be higher in calories, but are full of protein and healthy fats, and I don't find them all that filling. The other thing you could try is swapping some lower impact workouts with the one you love so that you don't give them up and are still workingout, just not burning quite so many calories.

Old Navy for the gym clothes. They are my favs, hands down. Their "compression" pants are nothing short of miraculous. I don't know how tall you are or anything, but their tops look to be long-ish (not long enough for me though.)

~Hugs~ to Brianna and Jessica!!! Actually GROUP HUG!! LOL I think we all need one!! I missed yesterdays team chat so I'm trying to catch up....I did cardio kickboxing for the first time yesterday, and boy I'm feeling it today! I really needed that!! I need that added into my weekly routine, wow it was challenging. On another note, I need new gym clothes, any ideas on where to go, I can't do fitted shirts, I like them long enough also so when I do jumping jacks my belly doesn't show. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Jessica, I don't know what to say. I have looked at your food tracker and you are really consistent with your intake. All I can think of is including a piece of fruit with EVERY meal (snacks included) and possibly increasing your portion sizes. Start small, up everything you intake by 0.5 cup to 1 cup depending on what it is, and then go up from there. Consistently eat your snacks, every day without fail. Ensure you are hitting all food groups with each of your main meals. You do a TON of cardio and your body needs the energy to do it, but have you cross checked some other web sites to ensure the number you have been given is accurate?

Whatever you do, DON'T fall back on the "easy" foods. They are empty calories and won't do your body any good (I know I am preaching to the choir here!). Eating just anything in order to meet your minimum requirements will not help your weight loss and will only make you feel yuck. Don't sabotage all the good work you have done!!! And I like April's advice of talking it out with a nutritionist or sports trainer and see what they have to say!

Sending you big hugs today!!! Stay strong!

Jessica- Wow! What a difficult position to be put into!! Have you looked into protein type shakes...I mean the serious ones that body builders use?? I have a few friends that are gym crazy and that is what they do. It can be costly but worth the money if it keeps you physically going. You would hate to revert to bad habits so avoid that at all cost!! I couls certainly get some names for you or you could talk to a trainer at your local gym. They all have something to sell :) ! Are you continuing to lose when you make the adjustments?

Guys... I need a little support right now. I just ran a calorie differential report on myself, and I had to up my calories...a lot (more...I already did it once last week, and it still wasn't enough). I'm just burning too much...and I need to hit at least 3200 calories/day. I've been having headaches again, tiredness, short temper, slowed weight loss, voacb loss (this one is "me" specific, when I'm not getting enough to eat or enough sleep, I "lose" my "words".) When I did the math myself, it actually needs to be more like 4000+ with all of the exercise I do (per my Polar baby), but 3200 is SP's estimate using SP's estimate of my "burn", so I'm going to start there. I'm really upset about it, and have no idea how to eat that much stinking food/day without eating garbage. I COULD cut back on my cardio, but I just don't want to; I LOVE it. Its become my hobby, and my "mental health moment" of the day. Someday when I weigh less, this won't be an issue. But right now, I'm struggling to hit 2,500 cals/day, and have no idea how I'm going to manage the extra addition. I'm frustrated and getting tired of this...I'm working so hard to do "right", and STILL not making it. So...if anyone has any suggestions of HEALTHY but calorie dense food, I'm all ears. I've worked SO hard to get the "garbage" out of my diet, that I don't want to add it again, but I'm almost to the point of hitting a random drive through just to meet range!

That is awesome. Great work everyone! Now we just need to keep it up so that we don't let another group pull back in front.

I got up early this morning and did my workout and hope to get a walk in the afternoon. I plan to hit it hard again tomorrow so I can relax on Thanksgiving. Between working the night before and the night of I have to get up to go to lunch at my in-laws. I have a feeling I am going to be too tired for much else.

Have a great day ladies and keep up the awesome work!

Nice job recognizing the need Sabrina!!

Just a note to everyone else: Don't feel bad if you need a day off!! Yes, this is a competition...but not at the cost of either your health or sanity!! If you're hitting 5 days of cardio a week and are too tired/stressed/busy/ill/whatever to get another one or two in, TAKE A DAY OFF!!! You are all doing GREAT and one day of rest will not shut us down!! Just keep at it on the other days, and everything will work out!

So I took a much needed day of rest today. I burned a lot of calories last week and posted a lot of hours, way more than I expected, but I needed today to recoup. But I am back at it strong tomorrow.

We did awesome last week ladies! I can't wait to see how we rocked the results! Great job everyone!

Brianna - family can be our greatest strength and / or our greatest stresser. I have both in my family. What I have learned is not to expect more than what they are capable of giving even if that means I get shorthanded. My father is that way with me, I keep expecting more or better from him and have continued to be hurt by his inability to be what I need. Having let go of these expectations on my side has helped me to see our relationship in a healthier better way and has improved our relationship; not by leaps and bounds, don't get me wrong, but it has improved nonetheless.

Now this doesn't always work and sometimes different measures are needed. My DH's family and I have had a strained relationship from the start. They have been quite critical in the past but DH told them point blank that if they continued to treat me in the manner in which they did, then he would have no choice but to cut all ties. I was his choice and if they respected him, they would respect me as his wife. I have never loved that man more than in that moment! What i have also learned is that who I am is not measured by anyone else, I can't be who others want me to be and quite frankly I wouldn't want to. I KNOW who I am and I good with that, the pluses and the negatives.

I guess what I am really trying to say is we can not count on other people to give us our happiness or to give us respect, we have to find it in ourselves and surround ourselves with people who can honor that. We can't change them, we can only change us. Once we realize that, then the things they say and do can roll right off! Know you are worthy and good enough, know that you are not competing with your sister, know that your husband is your choice not theirs, know that its your house and it is comfortable and right the way you have it. You are WORTHY, you are good enough! Hugs!

Jessica - great job on the kickboxing. Best class I ever did was a kickboxing portion of a martial arts class I did. I loved it and would kill to be back in it!

Briana--You ARE good enough! If your family can't see that, then they need to keep it to themselves. Families are hard, and every family's dynamic is different, but I feel very strongly that no one has the right to make you feel badly about yourself, parents or not! Your schedule makes me dizzy, you are raising a family, AND you are managing to keep yourself on the fitness track through the whole thing!! It's AMAZING!!

Briana - You are definately good enough and kudos for making the right choice between computer and working out!

I know having the exceptance of your parents is very important, but if you know what you and your family having going is a good thing, try not to let it get to you too much.

Good luck making it through the next couple of days and keep up the good work on the eating and exercise front!

Sorry I have been off the radar for the last week. I have had family in town and have had very limited time to be on the computer. We have just had so much going on. I did manage to rock it this week in my eating (huge accomplishment since my parents like to "treat" us to eating out) and my exercise. Many nights I had to choose between the gym and the computer and I choose the gym this week.

This week has brought its share of stress and struggles just as every visit from my parents brings. For some reason having them here brings to the surface every insecurity I have. I feel as if I am always being compared to my sister and her family and regardless of how hard I try I just never seem to measure up. Apparently I didn't marry the right guy, I have not accomplished as much in my life as I should and my house is not as clean as it should be and the list goes on and on and on.

I know it's bad to say but for once I just would like to get some credit for everything I do. I would like my husband to be recognized for his hard work and dedication to our family and I would like them to see some of what happens at my sister's clearly and not through the "they can do no wrong" glasses.

One stupid thing is that my husband wants to make a higher dollar purchase and my parents will tell us every reason that he shouldn't but my brother in law made the exact same purchase and they fawn over him and tell him how wonderful he is and how wonderful it is. It's driving me insane! I just want to scream!!

Ok enough ranting :) I only have two more days to deal with it and then they wont be back until February. I just have to keep telling myself "I am good enough" regardless of what anyone else says.

Way to go on loosing 10% of your body weight. That's a huge accomplishment! I am so impressed because I am sure that it took so much hard work! Keep up the great work!

I will can't wait to see those results for this week! Although I kinda of almost hope we are in 2nd by like 1 point. I know it sounds crazy, but the competitiveness in me works just a little harder if I know we need to AWESOME instead of just great to take the lead.

Motivating me even more is that when I weighed myself today, I have lost 10% of my body weight emoticon . Not even close to my final goal weight, but I feel like that is a huge milestone. I have read that even losing 10% of your body weight can make a huge difference in your overall health.

Have a great week! Let's finish strong.

Hey Ladies!! I'm so excited to see the results of last week, that I'm actually a little giddy. :)

Brooke--you have no idea how happy it makes me that you guys are looking at that stuff too. :) I worry a lot because (if you haven't noticed) I'm a little competitive, and I don't want to be so gung-ho about winning that I put you guys off of the challenge. :) (It IS about our own health and progress, but I just can't help my nature) Totally right though...my plan for this week at the end of the day is to take a look at my cardio minutes for the day, and then walk or circuit train long enough to even it up for the day! At worst, we're talking about 19 extra minutes of cardio being needed to even it up...I can pull that out!!

No prob on the advice guys--I give it because I (sometimes) have it, and I hope that you guys will return the favor when I'm in the need of it too! I have a bad habit of going a little overboard (good and bad) in everything I do, and I need reality checks from people every now and then to keep me grounded (and uninjured). :)

Last week...let's get this done ladies! Tight race this month, and it would be AWESOME to come out on top! (Not to mention sweeping the fall challenge!)

Thank you Jessica for your advice! I am ready to truly take it to heart and get it done. You are absolutely right for when I was my most successful over the last year and a half,I was focusing on baby steps, and so often one good decision leads to another! I need to refind that focus...I think I will start with lunch bc my breakfast is already pretty good. 9 times out of 10 it is my best meal of the day. I need to bring my lunch more. On weeks that I bring my lunch I tend to do better. This week I pledge to only eat one meal off campus and prepare healthy lunches the rest of the week!

Thanks again!! I needed it! :) emoticon

I was looking over this weeks challenge, and I just wanted to share my thoughts on the cardio portion:
Cardio – For every 20 minutes of deliberate cardio you complete each day, you will earn 25 points. In addition, for every 50 calories you burn, you’ll earn 25 points.

Since we are getting points for 20 min. increments, If you are doing a 30 min. workout, the last 10 min. of that work out doesnt count for points unless you add another 10 min. to it, for an even 40 min. Last Monday I had an odd ball number of minutes and I didn't think about it then, but I should have done 8 more minutes, and it would have accumulated more points.
Just something to think about for this week, maybe your already aware of it, I just had that lightbulb moment! LOL

Great advice Jessica!! I needed that!!! Glad we have these forums to discuss our problems/successes!! I definately struggle with bad choices on eating. Habits are truly hard to break! But you really had some helpful tips and I will try them this coming week. And I also am guilty of finishing EVERYTHING on my plate, it is almost OCD of me to leave anything on my plate, I just can't seem to do it.. Like it will bother me, mentally!!! Crazy I know, but Its out of habit!
On another note, Friday I didn't get to post on this thread, it was quite a busy day! I traded in my vehicle and got another one, then later that day we had a horse in the stakes race, and I am happy to say that he won! 5 out of 5 wins!! He is really doing well, If he keeps this up, we just may be Derby bound!! Praying hard for that one!! Today I am resting from celebrating a little too hard!! Getting ready to do my WUB......Goodnight!!! : )

Jessica that really is great advise.

For me besides eating unhealthy choices, is feeling as though I need to finish everything on my plate, even if it is WAY more food than I need to fill full. One of the first things I had to tackle to even attempt lose weight was change the way I think about that. Whenever I am eating at home I put my food on a little plate so I don't eat as much but still feel like I am getting a full plate of food. It is harder when I go out to eat, but I always divide my meal in half. Once I have eaten half I try and give myself time to determine if I am full. If I am then I take the other half home. It takes a lot of effort to pay attention to not wanting to clear my plate and it probably always will. I do find myself trying to be very careful when telling Kaylee to eat more or finish your lunch because I am afraid I will teach her the bad habit I am trying to break myself of.

Habits are so engrained and difficult to break, I don't think you can do it any way but with little steps.

We're all sick too...but I'm trying to not let it ruin the week. Ryley and Casey are doing a LOT better (just a little residual coughing, but nothing terrible). I had some kind of intestinal issue yesterday which kept me from doing anything too strenuous OR eating well, so I went outside and did some much needed yard work so we could still get SOME points from me for the day. I'm hoping to get a little something better in today, but it's not looking good so far. :(

April... Your issues with food choices are the EXACT same struggle I have...so I'd like to share my opinion on that subject. I feel very strongly that people who eat terribly for years and then wake up one day and do everything right from there on out (without unhealthy meds) are not human. Some kind of aliens, supernatural heritage, something. :) Mostly kidding, but you get the idea. For me, it's not about the actual food, it's about long held bad habits...which are HUGE hurdles to "living well"...because they are not physical issues, they are mental, and cannot be cleared up quickly. It sounds like the problem you are having is not so much with problem solving, it's with frustration over trying to solve the GIANT issue of your whole diet at one time. SO...that being said, I'm a big fan of "baby steps to better eating". If you try to do everything right without developing the habits first, you fail because your "bad" habits will constantly be working against you and your guilt about not being super human will eat you alive. My suggestion (only because it is what is working for me), is to pick ONE thing to work on next week. I think an easy personal challenge for you would be to start with ONE meal in your day, pick either your worst or your easiest...it depends on you and your preferences. I say breakfast, because it's the meal of the day when most of us tend to have the most will power, and the meal you are most likely going to eat at home and then leave (giving you no time to go back and add junk to it). Following the breakfast example, go grocery shopping as soon as you can (even if the trip is ONLY to buy food for this goal...if you have it on hand ASAP, your success with this will be much more likely). Think of a couple of "good" (but not "perfect") meals to start with for the next week. Cheerios with a banana and skim milk, Aunt Jemima Whole Wheat pancakes with sugar free syrup and a little cut up fruit, fruit salad and cottage cheese, whatever floats your boat but fits into the following categories: Nutritionally "full" (no empty calories, reasonable nutrients), and something you actually can like to eat. (Yes, Kashi is good for you, but it tastes like dirty cardboard, and if you don't like it, you are not going to be able to eat it). If you have to batch cook things ahead of time for the week, you can "fry" a pound of low fat shaved ham (no butter, it's own fat will be enough it get it done) on Sunday, divide it into 5 baggies, and microwave it in the mornings to have with pancakes or something. But anyway, shoot for that ONE meal to be "good", and take pride in it!! If the rest of your day is not up to your standards, hold on to the fact that those meals will be on your hit list eventually too...but right now, your breakfast is AWESOME. If you can get through a week of "good" breakfast, shoot for 2. It takes up to 30 days to make or break a habit, so if it takes 30 before you feel comfy with it, so be it. But work on forming that habit...and next month, you can work on another...like, your morning snack, or lunch, or white bread, or whatever you feel is your "biggest" challenge every week. The point of this long response (sorry guys) is that you WILL succeed if you take the HUGE problem, and break it into a lot of LITTLE problems, then attack those one at a time.

The sick bug is at my house too and I am hoping it isn't a bad one. Both my daughter and I are showing symptoms. I called in sick today for a mental and physical health day. I still went for a 2.5 mile run though for the same reason as Leann...I'm scared if I get sick I won't be able to workout. It has felt good these last few days working out. I love the "me" time, but I find myself putting myself last too often and then evening/night comes and I don't have the energy. The crazy thing is...I love working out. Like you all were saying...it can be addicting; the more I do, the more I want to do. I have been awful with my eating. I am somewhat staying in calorie range but I know what I am putting in is not healthy. Not to mention, I am always at the high end of my calorie range. Having a rough week with food...it's winning and I am sad about it. I know PMS has a part in it but I can't figure out what I need to do to get control. I know there are a million tricks and I know I should put them into practice, but I don't...I go eat. Argh! Wow, what a vent! I needed that though. I needed to tell someone that I am out of control as an accountability check.

I am looking forward to the weekend and hoping that I stay somewhat healthy!! Have a great one ladies...thanks again!!

It is Friday, but not turning out to be a great one. My husband is sick! I really hope my daughter and I don't get what he has. Just in cause, even though I have a headache, I am going to go get my cardio in. Because if it hits me there is no way I will get it in tomorrow.

Keep your fingers crossed that I stay healthy.

With my oldest, she was fascinated with my "working out", to the point now that when we go to the basement, its not for "play time" its for "working out" LOL!! because she was a bit older, taking her down with me wasn't a problem. I always let her on the treadmill with me for warm up and cool down, that was enough to peak her interest and then off she would go to play. I also let her do the weights on the BowFlex, as well as jump on my rebounder. It all seems to be enough to get her in the spirit and then to move onto other things. We also relocated some of her toys to the basement and so for her it is like renewing old friendships; things she hasn't seen or played with necessarily FOREVER (her words)! It is so cute to watch.

My youngest is 18 months old and the simple fact is I can't workout with her down there. Our basement is undeveloped so there are TONS of hazards down there. It is far from baby proof. I tried making an area that was semi-secure and had more toys than any child every needs, but as she has gotten older that has worked less and less to the point I don't even bother if she isn't sleeping or DH is around to help out. its too distracting.

I like the idea of the different play stations and we will have to see how she develops and whether that works for her. It is definitely an inspirational idea, thanks Jessica!!! Until then, workout time is something special that me and the oldest (and DH if youngest is sleeping) do and that is good too! We will see how it progresses as the little one grows!

Happy Thursday everyone and TGIF!!!! YAY!!!!

Thanks for the idea Jessica. I will have to try that. I am not 100% sure that she will have the attention span to stay in one place that long, but it sure is worth a shot. I tried taking her ride on toy in the basement since there is a lot of open space and all she wanted to do was get into my husband's hunting gear and I pulled her off the stairs 4 four times. I guess at least she is getting good and going up and down without much help. Maybe at least she will master them soon so I can get rid of the baby gate!

Hope everyone is having a great day!

That entertainment circuit sounds like a good idea, I may have to try that later on..My daughter is 1 so right now, I use the faithful swing or pack n play for now while I workout at home. I am thankful that my gym provides childcare during certain hours so that has been extremely helpful!! Well, I have a lot to get done today, so I better get started. I have to clean the inside of my vehicle, think I'm trading it in tomorrow and I have 5 years of crud from my 7 year old son to clean out! Scared what I may find! LOL, and my daughter has occupational therapy around noon. Plus laundry and tons of housework(my husband comes home this evening) And I have to get a least an hour of cardio. Have a great day Radishes!!! emoticon

Leeann--when my oldest was very young, I had an "entertainment circuit" for her while I would do a dvd. I would set up toy stations in four corners of the room...she'd go in corner 1 for about 10 minutes, then I'd yell "switch" and she'd go to anther corner. I made a game out of it to keep her busy...and I could count on at least 40 minutes of workout time doing it. This never worked with my youngest (she caught on too quickly), but it might work with yours? It's worth a shot...

Momentum is definately what keeps me going too. I definately haven't worked up to the same level as Jessica, but it is still about 100x more exercise than I was getting 3 months ago. I am starting to find that I can't wait for my daughter to take a nap or my husband to get home so I can really workout. Since Kaylee is only 16 mo. old she is curious about everything and tries to get on the treadmill with me or will walk around right next to me while I do Tae Bo. I am so afraid she will walk in front of me right when I kick and I will send her flying. Plus, I workout in my basement and if I don't watch her really close she will take off up the stairs without me or get into things she shouldn't. But boy is she cute when she tries to do squats with me emoticon . My point is it is nearly impossible to do cardio with her around, unless it is warm enough to put her in the jogging stroller and walk/jog outside. Since we got our first snow today, I doubt I will be able to do that for a while.

That's awesome Jessica and a great way to go about staying on top of working out. It is a progression and the more we do, the more we are able to do, and hopefully the more we WANT to do. I am just at the start of that "wanting" phase. I think about that next workout all the time, but I know if I don't follow through I am still too close to reverting back to doing nothing and I don't want to go there! I just keep reminding myself that every week I am stronger and stronger and it's such an AMAZING feeling that I just get to it!! I now know my day isn't complete without getting on that treadmill even if it's just for 20 minutes; to do something every day is now almost routine and that is unbelievable.

Brooke...it's all about the momentum. When I first started doing all of this (again, anyway) 6 months ago, walking around the block gave me shin splints. But I made myself do SOMETHING for 30 minutes everyday for a week, then that week turned into a month, then 30 turned into 60, and on and on, until I reached the point I'm at now. If I slow down, I want to stop, so I try not to let myself slow down...I can't afford to fall of this wagon!

I do still get sore sometimes...the first Body Sculpt class I went to last week had me griping everytime I had to move my legs for 2 days...but I've found that when I wake up sore (but not injured), doing a little light yoga or just a good 20 minutes of stretches makes it bearable, and THEN I do some kind of different (from the one that made me sore) workout that day. I don't do the activity that made me sore until the soreness goes away...but I never go longer than a week before trying it again. So for example, the 100+ each of squats and lunges we did in Body Sculpt had my glutes screaming for 2 days, so I stretched them 3-5 times a day (quickly...I don't have time to do yoga all day), and then did Spin, Turbo Fire, walking, etc. until the pain went away. Then when I went back to Body Sculpt on Monday, I was fine.

My husband doesn't work out with me either. He does have his input about what I should do more of, as if I didn't already know! LOL. I thought I would like him to come to the gym with me, but I like my "me" time. I do think its neat for those of you that like it though! I am exhausted today. My muscles are yelling at me for Mondays workout! Jessica how do you do that much daily?? You are a machine!! Very inspiring!

My hub won't do anything with me either...he's "naturally thin" (eats like a horse and never gains an ounce) so he won't work out with me. He doesn't understand that exercise is not just for weight loss, it's to promote a healthy body...and I'm tired of arguing with him about it! :) He has come around to the idea of MY exercising, and he's been much better about keeping the kids busy when he's home so I can do it! I can't get him to eat a vegatable unless I "hide" them in things, but he's at least accepted the fact that I'm not cooking unhealthy meals for dinner anymore, and he's eating things without complaining!

Leeannz- It sure is nice to have a partner in this. My hubby is a part timer...lol. He isn't really overweight so he exercises but it is usually in the form of one of the million sports he plays or coaches. He eats decent but I wish he was a little more willing to really jump in. He likes his meat and potatoes but doesnt like to go too far outside the box. I keep sneaking things in on him and that is going well but I do wish he was more enthusiastic. I need that on many, many days!!!

Jessica- I know, I know! Lol. My cardio is about the same, but I am definitely doing more ST than I have in a long time. I used to be a gym rat before kids but the last 7 years have been a struggle. Thanks for your support!

I sure wish I could get my husband to workout with me! He always has an excuse. All I really want is for him to run/jog with me because I know he would push me to keep going and I would have to work on my speed to keep up.

I may have to start pushing him a little harder to join the healthy lifestyle.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Well, I am ready to take the # 1 spot! Yesterday, I was 8 minutes short of a total 3 hours for cardio. Although yesterdays 5k, I wore my zumba shoes instead of my running shoes, and my toes are paying for it! But I did wear the right shoes today when I did my 5k. I am proud of our team and all the hard work each one is doing!! We can do it!

So it's confirmed I have been eliminated for blogs. My first was a day late and the second wasn't specific enough to my goals. Go figure. Making it through month 1 and continuing to participate didn't count. Thanks for the support ladies and good luck with your goals. I know you guys can take 1st again!!

I AM SO STOKED!!! We've got competition this month, ladies! It will make it that much sweeter when we take the month! emoticon

Even with the -100 we had averaged in for week 2, we were only one point out of first, and we are CLOSE for the month overall! I LOVE IT!! Seriously, if we didn't have to have that -100 averaged in, we would not have just won the week, we would have won BY A LOT! So Week 3...here we come! Plus (and believe me this isn't bragging...I'm not proud of it), I burn a LOT of calories for exercise...the heavier you are (and I am still PLENTY heavy), the more you burn when you work out. It's just math...but it benefits our team A LOT when we get to count calories burned!

You guys are doing GREAT!

April--stop beating yourself up!! I demand it! :) You are posting points and not getting eliminated...that is all we need! :) And if you take the challenge out of the equation, you are working out more this month than I ever remember you doing! So...pat yourself on the back for stepping it up for YOUR health...don't kick yourself!!!

Hello ladies! Well my points havent been steller but I am getting through it! My goal this week is to up my personal points. I would love to break the 2000 mark if possible.

I woke up with a bum knee yesterday...how does one injure themselves while sleeping? Ugh! I went from Zumba and running to barely being able to walk without motrin. However, I took the motrin and went on an amazing long walk with my best friend. Therapy for the mind and body. I love walking or running with my friends.

I will be better about checking in the rest of this week and I hope to catch up with you all!

Take care and go for it today!

Great job on week 2 ladies! I know for me personally I am picking up my socks this week! I have day 2 of morning workout complete, plus I intend to hit the treadmill tonight while watching the BL!

Great work everyone, lets keep it up!
