Monday
I just got an avertisment from Sparkpeople about Curves Complete inUSA - and I see its US$12.95 a week - for the total exercise, meal plan, coaching program. Thats actually cheaper than in Oz!!

So today I have it sorted further. OK - so it takes me time to arrive!!
Breakfast - Cereal and milk
Lunch - egg salad sandwich
Tea - Roast beef on salad - and to eliminate the salt I cooked the meat myself. So now I have roast beef in the freezer in packs for a few serves.
I will do the same with chicken - to eliminate the salt - but I still say that its disgusting the salt the manufacturer adds to a simple thing like roast beef (and I'm not talking corned beef!!)
I know that in USA you have more low salt and salt reduced choices than us, this would make it much easier for you.

so - I went to the meeting - got weighed - had put on 0.4kg (about 1lb) much to their horror (but EVERYONE loses!!) and much to my amusement!! (it will be fluid from the sudden change in diet - and is a normal reaction if one has been on a higher calorie, carb restricted diet going into this program ) I think when I jumpewd on the scales this morning it had gone!!.
So then the counsellor decided to listen - asnd now I am following the Curves guidelines and working my own recipes into it!! Its a very time consuming job - but its happening slowly.
Also since week 1 is over I am now allowed 1500cal - so have more give in the menu!!
Friday
Breakfast - cereal with yogurt
lunch - Taco salad
Tea - Turkey Salad

Today -
Breakfast - oatmeal
lunch - turkey salad
Tea - Santa fe salad

Hopefully I can get to do the grocery shopping tomorrow and then can use a bit more imagination in the planning!! My DH decided he just had to have the car on both the last 2 days, so the pantry is empty!!

Interesting discovery
Salsa - bottled (its listed as "free" in the diet) - I knew it was high salt but until today didn't realise its as high as it is (and in Oz we can't get low salt or salt reduced salsa)
I had planned 2 Tbs salsa on salad - I removed it from my tracker for interest .and the salt content of that dish dropped by 500mg. WOW!! Thats a heap of salt I can happily live without!! I'll make my own salsa in future - fresh!!

Its day 7 today - and I am (I think) beginning to get the hang of this - I seem to have hit a mid point where I am following their diet using higher carb options but still maintaining a semi-low carb diet!! On average my Carbs are about 45% of my daily intake!!
So today I sort out the "glitches" with the counsellor and get a workout!! I'm having my workout before I see her - with luck the endorphins will help me through the meeting!! LOL!!
Day 7
Breakfast - Bircher muesli
Lunch - Chicken strogonoff
Tea - Taco salad
+ 2 snacks
I chose the 2 repeat meals as I had packets of meat in the freezer to cook double chicken strogonoff and 3 meals meat for of taco salad. If I thawed it - I had to use it!!

Ok we seem to be heading in the right direction now - on investigating the myriad of pages in the Curves Complete web site I have found some higher carb options !! WooHoo@!!
By bringing them into my program in the way suggested I am able to create an acceptable (to my body) eating plan. Why my counsellor didn't tell me about the higher carb options I don't know - but I sure will find out on Thursday at the meeting!!
I also got a good workout yesterday at Curves and though I was light headed - I coped!!
Day 6
Breakfast - Bircher Muesli
Lunch - It should be Beef Strogonoff but I am using chicken as its easier to eat with no teeth!!!!
Tea - Tuna salad sandwich
and 2 snacks

Tomorrow is the last day of this week - and my meeting with my counsellor!!

Yes well Day 3 sort of fell apart!!
I colapsed with severe pain - and it took a bit to realise why.
I told you before that its VERY high protein in week 1 - the idea being to get your body ready for the high (but not as high proportionally) protein diet following - jump start the metabolism and get rid of excess fluid. OK in theory - but I had already been on a high protein diet 45% - 50% carbs) and 1500cal and had lost weight in the previous 2 months. I have a metabolic disorder that can cause problems metabolisising protein - though I had hoped I could cope for just one week - my body had other ideas!!
I contacted my counselor - to see if I could raise the carbs slightly - as week 2 has a higher carb lervel so I would be ok - and was told in slightly different words - "either follow week 1 as it is - or close the door as you leave"
Charming!!
I have signed on for 6 mths so for 6 mths I shall bug the counselor - but as you realize I know enough to handle the nutritional problems!! Maybe that is the problem!!
I have managed and went back to work out today - I will see the counsellor on Thursday - should be an interesting meeting!!

so Day 3 - food all over the place!!
Day 4 -
Breakfast - Bircher Muesli
Lunch - Tuna salad sandwich
Tea - Nicoise salad
+ 2 snacks

Day 5 -
Breakfast - Almond berry parfait
Lunch - Asian Salmon
Tea - Taco salad
+ 2 snacks

Everyone smiles in the same language.

Day 2 went well - but I have to cut down the amount of food a lot, this is probably to do with the fact we are having a heat wave here and today is the 5th day we are over 100F - this means I am limited in my exercise as I am not able to be energetic in this heat. Its forecast to drop in 2 days time and then rise again in 3 days!! Obviously one of those years!! But we all know that LIFE can get in the way - and I refuse to let it sway me from my goal
I have planned salads and things needing minimal cooking - and sure am getting enough water to drink!!! I am drinking ALL the time!!
So day 2 breakfast - cottage cheese and pineapple
lunch - Fish with mango avocado salsa
Tea - Chicken salad
and one snack was Smoked salmon on cucumber spread with cream cheese - but please know that I love Smoked salmon so I chose this - there are lots of cheaper choices.

Basic reaction - its a good and easy to follow diet plan - has heaps of changes, and exchanges that would cover any likes, alergies etc and I particularly like that it can be fitted into any financial situation - its not necessary to buy foods that are expensive or out of season - you plan it according to your situation.
On the down side some choices are low in fibre so you need a suppliment - psyllium or similar are good and can be added easily - and it has a tendency to be high in salt (sodium)- so you need to keep to "no added salt" products wherever possible!!

OK - on to day 3!!

Ok - so day 1 was both frustrating and great
Was weighed and measured by the counselor - 112.4kg (approx 247.28 lb)
I went shopping to get the fruits and veg that I wanted - and because of the heat had a very poor choice so ended up having to substitute many on my original list!!
I found there was a lot of hassle in the cooking of both dishes - but they tasted great and DH really enjoyed them - the Asian Salmon is very high in salt though even with salt reduced soy.
The other comment we had was that there is if anything too much food - I'll cut down the recipes in future.

Today - day 2
Breakfast - cottage cheese and pineapple
Lunch - Fish with mango selsa
Tea - Chicken salad
+ 2 snacks are planned

If you are from Northern hemisphere remember we are in our summer so the salads are my choice - but there are lots of "winter type" dishes available too

Today - 11/01/13 - I am starting Curves Complete
I actually have been doing Curves Smart for a couple + years - and last Tuesday got the Curves Complete program.
Today is wk 1 - Day 1 - weigh and measure - before photo - and check diet plan personal changes with counselor.
I had been controling my food for ages anyway - but everyone had told me that week 1 is very hard - its meant to prepare you for the rest of the plan - but I definately think there is enough food - using the free veg as well - I suppose it depends how much people had been eating before.
Wk 1 - has 1200 cal average - but wk 2 onwards is 1500 cal.
Having applied my own changes using their guidelines (and I should add that there are heaps of changes that can be made and heaps of free veg to fill up on too - so personal preferences are covered) I am off shopping and to my meeting.
My menu today -
Breakfast - egg on muffin +free foods
Lunch - fried chicken with free foods
Tea - Salmon asian flavour - with free foods
and 2 snacks are also planned

Everyone smiles in the same language.
