I always like the First Response tests, but I'd say most tests are pretty accurate. Honestly, if you want to save some money, buy Wondfo test strips off Amazon. Tests can get really expensive, and I think you can get a 50 count package for less than $20. I always had very accurate results with them, without the guilt of throwing away $5-$10 per test. You can always buy a digital test if you want to confirm and see the actual words "Pregnant"

Which brand of Pregnancy Test is the most accurate? I'm thinking I should have a couple just in case.

Thanks for the welcome! I just logged on today for the first time since that post and of course have yet to put in any effort to making changes. I'm off from work today so I hope to make a little progress today =) I'm hoping to do a yoga video and get to the store for some healthy options

Hi Everyone! I am new to the team! My husband and I got married last summer and our plan has always been to start TTC this August. Neither of us have children and so this whole thing is all very new to us. I have been on BC for years and for the past year or so I have been suppressing periods. I have interstitial cystitis and my doctor and I discovered this was a huge trigger for me. I don't have any weight to lose, but I do need to adopt some healthier habits before the baby comes. I hardly exercise and my eating habits are terrible. I really want to make some healthy changes before we try for a baby. I can't believe how quickly time has gone and August will be here before I know it!

Hi everyone! My name is Cheryl and I'm new to the group. My husband and I have one son who is 10yo and I've had baby fever for 5 or 6 years now. Our finances were in bad shape so we couldn't do anything about it :( But now we're in a great place as far as that's concerned, I've just gained A LOT of weight in the past 2 years. I currently weigh 192, which is the heaviest I've ever been except when I was pregnant with my son, when I got up to 197. I'm so ashamed that I let myself get this heavy. My hopes are that by July, I'll be down at least 20 lbs and I'll feel better about TTC. I'm really glad I found this team. I'm hoping I'll get some helpful tips and motivation!

Hi everyone!!! I am 30 years old, was just married this summer to my best friend of 12 years, together for 8. I also had a kidney transplant 2 years ago (1/26/12) and have put on more weight than I wanted to. I am 5'9" and if I could get down to 180, I would be okay with trying, but my "real" goal in 160. I know my kidney doctors want me to lose weight before we try...

We are both music teachers and would love to start TTC in September so I could take the end of the year and have the summer.

I have a kidney appointment in two weeks 3/14/14 and will be bringing it up for the first time. I have to change all my meds for 3 months before it is okay. They might want to change them in June, not now.

I'm nervous that they won't even talk about until I lose weight. My husband is on board with me, but he looses so easily! I hope that I can drop some. My first week was last and I lose 1.6 pounds. Good start, but I need to start exercising. I belong to a gym but haven't gone in a looong time.

Man, I guess I should have just wrote a blog instead!!! ;-)

~Amanda

My goals:
1) To be greener, eat cleaner, and exercise meaner!
2) Lead a healthy lifestyle to extend the life of my kidney transplant! 1/26/12
2) Lose weight so we can start thinking about starting a family! BABY FIT!!

I am also just getting off BC and starting to figuring out my cycle and tracking my temperature, cervical fluid, position and opening. Learning everything I can so we can TTC in about 3 months, as my doctor recommended letting my cycle get back to normal first, which takes about 3 months.

I posted on the welcome forum, but wanted to introduce myself here as well! My name is Megan and I worry that my weight will be a factor both in TTC and throughout pregnancy. I am currently at 215 and want to get down to 150 before we start trying. My husband and I have been married for 2 months now and we want to start TTC after our anniversary so I have 10 months to get it together. I'm so glad there is a resource out there for others going through the same thing!

I couldn't decide where to post! So, while I know that it's not going to happen for this month (Feb), so I can't exactly be a Feb Hopeful, I'm sort of prepping. I have ordered a basal thermometer and some other things to assist me. Mainly I'm trying to figure out what my cycle even is anymore. I was on BC for awhile and then it started getting wonky when I went off of it, then back on the BC, then surgery, now officially off of the BC and it's wonky again.

So while I am hopeful, I am going to be realistic and try not to get obsessive. I just want to enjoy the process and see what happens. I'm prepping by figuring myself out and eating healthier, while exercising.

We will be trying for our second child starting December 2014 or January 2015. I want to finish my schooling and that would put the baby due a few months after I graduate IF we got pregnant right away. Right now I am trying to lose weight and get my body into better condition so I am ready to go at the end of the year. I would like to lose 50 pounds this year and have good eating/exercising routines established before I am pregnant. Hopefully then I won't gain as much as I did the first time around (50 lbs).

I'm not TTC, but it's a major part of my future plans, but is still QUITE a ways off. I mean like 5-year plan kind of off. But I'm here mainly because wanting to have children is a MAJOR inspiration for me to be at my healthiest weight. I lost 30 pounds one year ago, and have been maintaining ever since. Recently, I decided that the weight where I was maintaining still isn't the sweet spot for me, and I am hoping to lose another 10-15 pounds in the next few months before maintaining again for a year. I'd like to find where my body is happiest, so that I can be my happiest me before starting a family. Nice to meet you all! Feel free to message me anytime if your goals sound similar!

My hubby and I aren't trying yet. We are not financially nor located where we want to be for a baby; but for me personally, i am very overweight for my height. I want to learn healthy choices now to teach our future baby the right way to interact with food. We both have baby colds, but now is a time more for me to prep and get healthy! I want to embrace the bump when i get it; i want people to notice!

5 lbs down, finally! I fell off the wagon a bit for a month and gained back a couple of pounds and this weekend I finally lost that back plus a pound! We are talking about when we want to start TCC - maybe in October/November so I would like to loose at least another 5 before then.

Hi everyone! I am also in this boat, of not TTC yet, but prepping. My boyfriend and I really want to get married and start having babies, but we have a few things to take care of first. We are finally starting to be in a really good place financially, after my boyfriend being unemployed for over a year, so that's definitely a good thing. Next up for me is losing 15-20 lbs and just being active and healthier in general. My boyfriend doesn't need to lose any weight (he has one of those really annoying metabolisms), but he could stand to be healthier when it comes to food and he needs to stop smoking. I'm hoping joining this board and seeing everyone else's achievements will help me stay motivated. Good luck!

Slow and steady, steady and slow. That's the way we always go!

Hey all!
My husband and I just got married a few weeks ago and we'd like to start TTC in about a year. I gained a bit of weight recently (wedding-stress-eating!) and would like to lose it again plus a bit more, not to mention get back into good habits before I have kids. I also want to be more active and eat a more varied diet so my body has all of the vitamins it needs.
We both want a baby sooo badly and the only thing stopping us from TTC now is our common sense. I need to finish my masters and get a job! If I get that together in a year, which I have every intention of doing, we'll be in a better place to take care of kids. I hope it works out, and I hope y'all have a *fun* trip to conception, too!

We are not TTC yet but sometime in the next year we are hoping. I've already lost about 50lbs with 10-15 more to go. I'm 27. We've been married for a couple of years and now that we have both gotten a lot healthier and more active, it's time to get our bank account in some condition for baby.

New to the board and found this. My fiance and I are not yet TTC, but will be in the next 5 or 6 months after we are married. We originally thought it would be 6 months to a year after the wedding but in June I had a ectopic pregnancy with an IUD and had to stop the growth. Thankfully we found out that I was pregnate at 4 weeks. After going through all that, we agreed that it is our time. So here I am, needing to lose at least 50 lbs to have the healthiest pregnacy I can!

I also have about 10-15 (maybe even 20) to lose before baby. I've signed up for a half-marathon, and am using that to motivate me to get the workouts in. I also would like to go to BodyPump (a goodlife fitness class) 2 x a week, but am having difficulty making it between work and life. What is your weight-loss strategy?

Hi all!

My name is Kim and I am 26 (almost 27) years old. My husband and I had been TTC for a year this month when I had a body analysis exam done. The body analysis gave me my weight, percentage of body fat, a visceral fat rating, and how hydrated I am. I thought I would literally hit the floor when I found out that 44% of my 193 lbs body was fat. Basically 60 lbs over weight.

After a few nights of crying and long talks, my husband and I decided to postpone TTC until I lost at least half of the weight... putting me at 160 lbs. I am currently proud to say that I am down 10 lbs with 20 more to go before we can start trying again! I hope that we can start the process again late this fall or early winter.

So excited today to get on the scale and see that I am below the 190 mark - just barely, but below none the less! Since this AF week I will take any amount of loss! I am so glad to be back in the 180s again even though that is just barely a start on what I plan to loose. After we got married I gained about 30 lbs in the first 6 months and had managed to hold steady at that weight for 2 years or so before I popped over the 190's and realized I needed to get motivated. Hoping that you are all doing well this week! emoticon Trying to remember to celebrate the small accomplishments as they can add up to something huge!

My husband and I just decided that we'll start TTC this fall. My #1 goal is to be a healthy weight before we try and I've got about 10 to 15 lbs to drop so I'm working to complete that in the next few months. I'm super excited (wish we didn't have to wait but being healthy as possible is important to me). This will be baby #1 and also gb #1 for my family. I'm spending a little time here and there reading about preconception health and welcome any small tips or support.

Hi ladies,

I was very active on this board until May 2012 when I got my first BFP. My son was born in January, and he is such a blessing. DH and I are really enjoying parenthood, and we know we want more children.

We were unlucky enough to have dealt with infertility in the past. I went two years without a period after going off BC, and once we finally got me ovulating on a regular basis, my husband was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Needless to say we feel very lucky to have fallen pregnant at all (4 years after we started TTC), so we are playing a little bit of Russian Roulette right now in the baby making department (i.e. no birth control of any sort.)

I haven't regained my cycle since giving birth, and I'm still exclusively nursing my son, so I don't expect to get it back in the very near future. We'll start DS on solids next month, and I've heard that women often start to cycle again once the baby starts solids and begins to nurse less often. I am definitely aware that it is still possible to get pregnant without regaining your cycle.

I also haven't regained my pre-pregnancy body, but I'm working on it. The scale isn't the problem. In fact, I'm only a few pounds from my pre-prego weight which I'm very proud of considering I gained 50 pounds, but my body is so different than it used to be. I have this definite pouch in front which is a mixture of extra skin and belly fat (don't get me started on how big my boobs are). I realize I may not lose this until I stop nursing, and I hope to continue nursing until DS is at least a year old, but I'm going to try my darndest to get rid of it without effecting my milk supply.

Anyway, good luck ladies! The TTC journey can be a long one, and I sometimes wonder why we would start it again, but then I look at DS, and it all becomes very clear. If you have questions about Clomid, Femara, RE's, OB's, acupuncture, yoga, herbs, and fertility diets, I swear I've tried them all, and I would be more than happy to tell you my experiences.

Edit: I've also done injectables and IUI's.

Well, the consult has come and gone. And the result: we look like good candidates for IVF. Our doctor suggested what I thought she would suggest. Because of my husband's condition, we wouldn't do so well for IUI. And that's what we were planning for.

The estimate is $17K. Not bad I suppose. We're looking at ways to help defray the costs a bit (even just 5K would help us out immensely), after all, after having baby, we'll need to be able care for baby. That's pretty much all our savings, and we will still need money for necessities like a bed, and clothes.

We can approach this several ways: There are financing options, but my credit isn't all that good (read: "What's credit?") The only credit I have is through my husband, sad in this day and age. There are a few grants out there, and we have every intention of applying a few that we can (many are location specific, and sadly, none are in our location). There is a third option: home-grown fundraising. Getting the people in our church involved, having bake sales, and other things of that nature.

I think we're going to try the second option first. We may include a bit of the third. I'd hate to put another loan on my husband's shoulders when it's "his" car payment, and "his" mortgage.

Hello All! I am new here. I have a one year old and we are discussing trying for baby #2 in the next six months. I really want to get into shape and a healthier weight before baby 2. My first pregnancy was pretty uneventful but I had a long labor (29 hours), a long recovery, and high blood pressure following my son's birth. I would like to be in better shape for the hope of having a healthier, more energetic (I will have a toddler too this time) pregnancy and hopefully a shorter, less intense labor. So, wow! that was long, sorry. So my main goal is to get in shape and a healthier weight before TTC baby 2

Scheduled an infertility consultation at one of the best in the states, Emory. It's not until May, so plenty of time for my nerves to wreck havoc. But it's a step in the right direction.

Hello all!

We were just about to start ttc, but put things on a temporary hold since I just got a new job - yay! Since it impacts my benefits, we are going to wait a few months to take the goalie out of the net. I am VERY excited to be on my last few months of bc!

I agree that anticipation can help keep us motivated. Sometimes, when I really don't want to exercise, I picture myself holding a baby, and then I know it's worth it.

I'm sorry you've had a hard time off the pill! As if you needed any more stress or distractions while getting fit for baby, right?
I actually went the opposite way, and now have easier monthlies than what I had before starting bc... I guess we *are* all different.

I know what you mean about buying baby things - our TTC start date is just a couple of months away, and I pretty much want to start outfitting a full nursery... and I'm nowhere near pregnant yet!
But, you know? I think the anticipation can help us stay motivated and on track.

Best of luck!

That's great that you're getting off those meds. I've had panic attacks before, but nothing that led to me taking meds. Glad to hear you are doing so much better that you can get of it.

I read your sentence that in 9 more pounds you'd be getting off the meds as well. lol.

Thanks! I've been on anti-anxiety meds (effexor) for panic attacks.

I AM off of them as of yesterday though which is why I'm hopeful that we'll be trying to conceive soon!

Hopefully not long for us! 9 pounds until I'm out of the overweight range and I am officially off of my medication (a must for TTC) as of yesterday!

Trying to find a family doctor at present so I can do the whole prenatal check-up thing.

I can't help but feel super excited! This will be our first time trying to conceive :D :D :D

Just took another step towards TTC. We scheduled an appointment to see if he can father children.
So far we know this much: 1. I'm still overweight, but going down. 2. There does not seem to be any other problems with me besides PCOS. March 4th we're going to see if he can father children. Wish us all the luck in the world.

I'd love to know what's in that drink. I've been trying to quit coffee, I was successful for a while, but with stress, and no sleep for the past couple days, I'm living on coffee again. Also would like to know more about that Advocare-24.

MWILLMOTH- I've done the first part of the Advocare 24-day challenge. Its easy, you have tons of energy, and it works... the down side is you have to stay with it and permanently change your habits. My husband and i did it before our wedding and did our measurements before and at the 10 day mark.. at 10 days I had lost 5.8lbs and 8.9 inches through my body (that's without working out). We were just saying last week we wanted to do it again and actually follow through with the full 24 days (we stopped at 10.. well he stopped at 10 i tried the next ste but without him following and all the stress of the wedding i gave up). They have their Spark energy drink that we LOVED we still drink it daily lol. I was able to give up coffee with that and he gave up soda.

I have to say that when I went off bc my periods at first were quite heavy and horrible and then ended up somewhere inbetween wonderfully light bc periods and the god awful just-off-the-pill periods.

Maybe it will be that way for you too :)

I like the idea of cloth diapers as well. Seems like it would be better for baby. I actually looked into it a while ago and there are services you can get where they drop off the diaper inserts and pick up dirty ones once a week. Still works out to cheaper than buying disposables and it's supposedly tricky to wash the cloth diapers yourself.

We haven't gotten too crazy, but it has crossed my mind for cloth diapers as well.

I can totally relate to long periods with several days of pain. I've never been on bc so I have don't know how it would have affected me. But a regular period is something I've never seen. I'll be hoping that your's stays regular, it makes TTC so much easier, or so I hear.

I must admit that I've been tempted to start buying things like cloth diapers and fabric for burp cloths, swaddling blankets, etc. I have not yet given in.

This has been my first month off the pill (using other means of bc until we are ready to try to conceive) and good ole Aunt Flo is here. I must say, periods while on the pill were much nicer. This whole multi-day cramp and thing and heavier flow is for the birds. Sorry if that is TMI. Hoping someone can relate! I'd forgotten what this was like.

The good news is that my cycle seems to be regular already. Hoping it stays that way!

A keepsake like that is perfectly ok to buy ahead of time, I think. I would be scared to start buying a bunch of clothes and toys though, since those can be iffy with sizes and style. But I can't say it hasn't crossed my mind!

Is it ever too early to start buying for your baby? My fiancee and I sat down to watch tangled (yeah, I forced him to it) and I mentioned that I would have to read Grimm's fairy tales before I let any children of mine watch the Disney version. And today, we were out shopping, and we saw a Grimm's Fairy Tale in a nice leather stamped in gold. And he asked me if I wanted it. I said no, but he knew I wanted it. And he said 'You could read it our baby." And that just clinched it. So he bought it for me for Christmas and I get to wrap it. But, just the way he said it, and I had to tell him yes I wanted it. For myself. But also to read to our baby.

I think it may be where I shop, more than the designer brand. Because I bought the off brand, exactly the same as the designer brand, and it was only $2 less.

I will check amazon. What brand do you get for real food vitamins?
While my own mother didn't get morning sickness, both of my sisters got it.

My vitamin D was more expensive than my prenatals -- luckily my midwife thinks I will only need the extra before I get pregnant -- going to test my blood again at that point. My prenatals are about $15 a month. Midwife recommended a type made from real food -- said that the body absorbs it better that synthetics, and that it is better for morning sickness (also contains ginger, which is good at settling stomach). My Mom had TERRIBLE morning sickness (which was more all-day sickness) for 6 months of both of her pregnancies. If vitamins from foods will help with that in me, I'm all about it!

For whatever you take, I suggest checking out amazon -- if you set up a subscription (which you can cancel at any time), you get 5% off the price. My 60-day supply also qualified for free shipping. And I'm sounding like a commercial. I'll stop =)

The advice I've heard is to take 3 months before trying. I would imagine the same would apply to IVF. Check with your doc?

Wow. That just sounds really low for Vitamin D. I went out and bought prenatal vites today. Sooo expensive. I'm wondering how important it is for me to take them now? We won't start IVF treatments until next year (probably around spring/summer).
Right now we have separate insurance, but I think his will cover IVF. *crossing fingers* his job is to look into that. In that case, marriage is a must so I can get on his insurance (I have some through my work, and he has different insurance through his work).

Started my prenatals today -- and extra Vitamin D. Midwife called back with my blood test results this morning. Apparently everything looked good except my Vitamin D level -- which was way low. Apparently normal range is 30-100, I was 9.something (she couldn't quite remember). She put both me and hubs on D -- I'm taking more than he is -- 5000 IU on weekdays and 10000 IU on Sat/Sun. So . . . four/five pills a day. Feels like this is becoming real.

Today I saw my family. My Mom made a comment that she realized it was about time for us to have a kid, because I was born about the same time as Prince William (3 months later), so it seems fitting that I should have a kid about the same time as theirs.

I find moments like that funny, since they don't know. Mom was joking, but uh, we're headed that way =)

That is so true. The only ones who can give us the full support we need is...us.
And you know, now that we will try for a baby (after some weight-loss) I might start a pregnancy journal too. Maybe we can keep reminding each other. Lol.

P.S. After looking at several "pregnancy journals" which all use a nine month calendar so to speak, I think I'll make my own. More like a pregnancy scrapbook.

Great idea. It is something I thought about when we first decided that we wanted to prep for children, but haven't been good at continuing. Thanks for the reminder!

And I totally get the encouragement thing. I think there is a point when it really comes to wanting to do it for us (even if the goal is something else -- like kids) . . . other people are never really going to be able to do it for us or provide the proper encouragement or motivation -- even those that love us desperately. Great that he is supporting and encouraging you now! You might mention at some point (and then provide reminders along the way) that you will need the same support after the baby is born to encourage him to continue!

Losingforbaby,
How about keeping a pregnancy journal. Something to write down your journey on the way. How you feel during the time, and something you can share later, after the baby is born. I used to keep a journal all the time, but this would be something special, just for this journey.

Hey all,
Well, I've been quiet recently. I've fought bronchitis for almost two months before going to the doctor (after a week on meds I'm now MUCH better). On the plus side...I'm down to 194!!!! This is the lowest I've been in so long, I'm not even sure (I got down to 190 just before my brothers wedding, although I have no idea when that was...).
My fiance brought up children again earlier this week. While he's uncomfortable with the idea of spending so much money, and having nothing happen, he wants kids, but thinks we should be married first (which for me is optional). I've told him I need to lose weight if we're going to get pregnant (and for him adopting isn't an option). Everyday since this conversation he's asked me if I've exercised, and how much. Today when he asked I laughed. He's been with me ALL day and knows I haven't. So on went the workout dvd. I'm glad he's now being more supportive in my weight-loss, but frustrated that it took him to realize he does want kids to support me.
Am I being picky? Probably. Since he got me to want kids in the first place. Still, I wish he'd just encourage me to be healthier, with or without children.

Hi all,
The hubs and I just had a first meeting / pre-conception visit with a midwife this morning. Bought a basal thermometer yesterday and ordered prenatal vitamins based on the midwife's recommendations. We're hoping to start trying to conceive at the end of March. Hoping to lose some extra pounds before then!

I just went off birth control pills a week ago and have been dealing with some of the hormonal crazies. Had a few bad food days and trying to take control of my own body (I'm having more good days than bad at this point -- I think that's a win!) and ignoring the desire to eat fried and sugary foods in massive quantity (it helps that we don't have them in the house).

I'm already noticing how hard it is to try to keep all of this a secret. It is such a HUGE part of my focus right now and not being able to share the funny stories of searching for a care provider (called the number listed by insurance for a closer midwife to get a Planned Parenthood office who told me she did work there but did not see pregnant women. I'm thinking I must have talked to someone new and confused (I'd also noted that I'm not yet pregnant -- but what midwife wouldn't see pregnant women?), but thought it was hilarious. Told the hubs this morning that I need to remember to write all these stories down for when it is okay to share with friends and family.

Thanks LCDOUGLASAU--We're also in the Atlanta area, a little bit south of Atlanta, but still 'metro Atlanta'. It seems like everyone I know is pregnant right now! I think something is in the air. We'll join them soon enough. ;)

Good luck, SADDYSPOT! Never fun when things get in the way of TTC!! Also... I'm in Georgia too! I haven't met anyone on here from the south and thought that was fun! We're in the Atlanta area! Hopefully Georgia will be a good state for TTCing luck soon ;)

Oh man:((( I'm so sorry to hear all that. You're talking to someone that also has chronic allergies. Mine haven't gotten any better over the years, but I've learned to just live with it. When I had to go off my nasal steroid and nasal antihistamine when I found out I was pregnant (twice) this past year, it was annoying and is sure to be extremely annoying throughout a full term pregnancy. So with that being said, you're right in that it's probably a great idea to get this taken care of before getting pregnant. I truly believe in that everything happens for a reason (even my 2 MCs this year), so perhaps this is somehow going to give you the perfect timing for your pregnancy as well? Or, just make it that much easier than it would be if you didn't get the surgery and just had to suffer the entire time? Just a thought anyways.

Best of luck to you!!

It's pretty bad. Don't worry, I know what I'm getting myself into--I had rhinoplasty last year, so I think that the septoplasty will be similar. I've always had problems (my whole life) with bloody noses, frequent sinus infections, constant post nasal drip, and headaches. Since I moved to Georgia, add to that allergies. Particularly this last year. It seems like anytime anything is blooming, I have red eyes and yucky nose. Post rhinoplasty, my nose twisted slightly, making it just a little bit worse. When I'm having allergy problems, it's like there is only a pin size hole allowing air passage. On a good day it's only mediocre air passage on the right side. I typically breathe with my mouth open slightly. Charming, I know. :) After my nose job, I spent about 3 days in bed with my husband bringing me pain pills, easy foods to take my pill with, and swapping my ice bags (bags of frozen peas). Then 2 more mediocre days of sitting on the couch. Then I had 2 more days I'd taken off work, but I was fine other than still having bruising under my eyes. I think I went to Walmart on day 6 to shop for thick concealer for going back to work on day 8. The bruising didn't go away for 2 weeks and the swelling...well, that goes down slowly forever.

Really, I'm just bummed that it's slowing down my life plans. I have a great surgeon, but between his office and my insurance, I'm really frustrated.

Kari

SADDYSPOT: Ouch, that stinks:( I'm sorry. How bad is your deviated septum? I have it sorta bad on the left side, but it mostly only causes a slight obstruction when breathing. After speaking with my Ear Nose Throat doc, as well as several women that have had sinus surgery, I doubtfully will ever go through with the surgery. It sounds pretty extreme (and painful w/a long recovery time) for something that isn't completely disabling me and would only make my breathing slightly less "annoying" heh. Hopefully you luck out and your surgery isn't too bad. (Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you off. I'm sure you've done all your research. I was just giving my own story--which isn't a very severe case.)

Hello ladies. I was planning to start TTC in October, but has been postponed. I've been trying since June to get my deviated septum fixed. I've had problems since I moved to Georgia 4 years ago and I don't want to put off fixing it through pregnancy and breastfeeding. Starting to look like November is out too. I'm really annoyed with my Dr and my insurance because I was set up for Oct, Nov, Dec to be low key weeks when I'd be ovulating. Vacation in Oct, Holiday in Nov, holiday in Dec. I hope and pray that I'm able to get my surgery early enough to start in Dec.

I'm ready to go. I have an OPT, a bag of pregnancy tests, and I've been on prenatal vitamins and tracking my temp for 5 months now. I'm ready to get this party started.

JMOSTEEN- sorry to hear about your troubles in your first pregnancy. A good friend of mine delivered around 6 months with her first baby because of preeclampsia. They didn't know if the baby would make it, but she did great and is now close to being a healthy 4 year old. Also, the reason for my post back to you... My friend is now pregnant with twin girls! She is due in November, but because they are twins they are scheduling her for later this month. She is doing amazingly well and has shown no signs of recurring preeclampsia. So I hope that encourages you! She is frequently monitored, but sometimes that's just for the best anyway... You have answers sooner! :). Good luck with prepping for your next baby!

My last appointment with my OBGYN was good and bad. She thinks my chances of getting extreme preeclampsia this time around are slim. She told me that they would be paying close attention to me and that I would be considered a high risk pregnancy because of the problems I had when pregnant with my son. I told her about the meds I am on and she mentioned that I should switch some of them out. She is going to talk to my primary care physican more in depth about it. I told her that I needed to lose weight and that would help my high blood pressure and she agreed. She told me to try the 17 day diet and the weight should come off quick if I follow the plan. It isn't so bad now after I got over the first week or so. The only thing that I am dreading is the thought of another c-section. I am just not sure if I can handle that again. I guess it won't be so bad if I don't add the preeclampsia and the magnesium sulfate into the mix. She originally thought we could try for a vbac but after discussing the blood pressure issues I am still having she thinks that scheduling a csection would be the best option. Anyway, I am sort of rambling. Thanks for listening!

Warmsunshine: I hear that! We waited until we were ready. Well, we were finally ready to start trying (last summer) and we have had issues. Two miscarriages in 9 months and I'm not getting any younger. I say don't wait, if you have most things in place. There's never a perfect time. Then, when the time is supposedly "perfect", life seems to have other plans that don't exactly coincide with your own:(

So I am a stay at home and have two boys at home. A beautiful 3 year old and a handsome one year old. I'm okay with two boys... in fact I am great just having two boys. My husband on the other hand wants four. I am also over 200 lbs and have been getting into shape and healthy for a good 6 months now. I started at 232 and a size 22. I am now at 205 and a size 16. I want to be at 150 before getting pregnant but the boys are getting older and we want the kids at 2 -3 years apart. I have been having thoughts of getting pregnant starting in January but I'm still half and half about having another baby and my weight issues. AAHHH!!! Decisions. Not really a question here just rambling and input on waiting or just for it,.

I can do this!!

Oh my gosh!!!! Suddenly there are babies everywhere. I just found out that my SIL is accidentally pregnant for the second time in 2 years. I know we're not trying yet, but I am already nervous that I will be the one who is trying to plan ahead and will end up having trouble. Silly, I know, but I figured if anyone would understand it would be the awesome people on this site.

It's days like today that I am so glad for Spark! Today I went to a work friend's baby shower and I am going crazy wanting to be pregnant!!! My husband and I are waiting for my Dr's Appointment in late November to make sure I am healthy before throwing out the BC. But today, I want to just throw it all away and go for it. I won't - I'll rant here instead - but today, I am really wanting to get this going!

I agree with Manda. It's never too early to start taking prenatal or make an appointment with the ob. I also want to lose about 50 lbs. So when my fiance and I started talking about kids I started taking a prenatal. And when I saw my ob, I got tested for anything that might make TTC harder. My attitude is that it's better to be prepared. That way you can make plans and make your life, and your TTC journey, easier.

my doctor said that if there's a chance that you could become pregnant, you should be taking a prenatal vitamin, or at the very least make sure you're getting enough folic acid (1 mg i think).
i made a preconception appointment with an ob for november and want to try next year. i dunno if it's too early, but i also have high blood pressure meds to discuss.

Hello All! I am hoping to TTC in summer/fall of 2014. Until then, I would like to work on losing at least 43 pounds (ideally closer to 50 pounds), become stronger, and increase my fitness.

Aside from trying to lose weight, or improve fitness, what have you ladies been doing to prepare your bodies for baby? Should I start taking prenatal vitamins now? Should I focus on certain dietary needs over others now?

When is too early to make a preconception appointment with a midwife/OB/GYN?

Would appreciate your feedback! HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

We are prepping planning on TTC in a month or so. I have a little over 20 pounds I would like to lose before then. I want to be at my goal weight first. Then I can maintain and gain healthy weight while pregnant. Excited for both things..reaching goal as well as a new baby!

Really needing some support. My husband and I are planning to start trying for a baby next month. I wanted to lose about 10 lbs. before we started. So I began my "getting fit before baby" journey in July. I have only lost a couple pounds and its almost here. Where has the time gone?! I am getting so upset at myself. I feel like I've wasted valuable time. I have been eating healthier but I'm still eating too much and not working out on a regular basis. What better motivation is there than to get healthy for your soon to be baby? The doctor told me my weight is fine and I don't need to lose weight to have a baby. I am just feeling bummed and really not sure what to do.

I think we're gonna start trying in December 2013 (I know, so far away!), but I decided to set as a goal to have 20% of body fat until then (found out last week that while I have a good BMI, my body fat is 37% which is a lot higher than recommended).

LFARRINGTON84: great news!

Just remember to keep in mind (and I'm sure your doc has told you this already), but it can take several months for the hormones from the pill to get out of your system. I haven't taken the pill in years and years (I was on Nuvaring), so I can't speak from experience. I do know that it only took me being off Nuva for a month or 2 before I was able to get pregnant. However, I think the pill might be a bit different...

Good luck to you!

Hi Everyone! :) My husband and I finally decided to start having a family. We're taking about 6 months to get healthy before I go off the pill. We each need to lose about 15 lbs and I'd like to improve our diet. Starting a family is exciting but I'm a bit nervous too!

Hi all!

I've been on this team for a long time but have never commented. I feel bad about that! My husband and I aren't actively TTC, but I would really like to be pregnant before I turn 30 in two years' time. It's bad of me, but I'm kind of hoping for an accident, lol! I am so motivated to lose all this weight before pregnancy!!

Hi! This is my first post to this group - my husband and I are planning to TTC after my yearly appointment in November of this year. I've had baby fever for about a year and am so excited he's been feeling the same way and that life is finally settled enough for us to consider babies serviously. I am now so motivated to continue this lifestyle change - and glad we're waiting til the fall to start - gives me time to focus on my health and do my homework - I like to read up on anything I'm preparing for! Good luck to all!

Julie,

Glad to hear others are in the same situation as my husband and I! We just went on vaca in early July and although we were actively "trying" there, it was past my fertile time, so it took couple more wks before we were OFFICIALLY TTC:) Guess I'll find out in another 10-12 days if we were as lucky as we were last year when we started tryin....

Best of luck!
