I'm a stay at home mom so, I don't often need a babysitter... but there are times when I do. Unfortunately, when we moved to SE Portland, I left all my friends and family (my babysitters!! ) behind. I was hoping my son (who is 8 ) would buddy up with a couple kids at school and the usual trading of kids and sleepovers would ensue. He hasn't made those types of friends yet. I haven't made any either. So, here we are, not knowing who we can depend on but ourselves. Any time I plan to do something with my husband I have to drive all the way to Monmouth (just past Salem) to drop my son at my brother's or dad's house.
I've looked in papers and online... but #1 I do not know these people nor anyone they know. #2 they usually charge and arm and a leg for night time babysitting. I don't know what to do! So I am turning to this group... I know there are plenty of moms here that may be able to give me some references, advice, or something. It's a real pain having to drive over 200 miles picking up and dropping off my son just for a night out with my husband!!! HELP!!!
