emoticon emoticon Its the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Charlie Brown is the one person I identify with. C.B. is such a loser. He wasn't even the star of his own Halloween special. ~Chris Rock

Tonight the Great Pumpkin will rise out of the pumpkin patch. He flies through the air and brings toys to all the children of the world. Linus in Its The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

All you have to do is walk up to a house, ring the doorbell and say "Tricks or treats. Lucy in Its the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

emoticon Meet your goals on the 31st. On Halloween, focus on meeting all of your goals all day long. It may be a treat-focused holiday, but you can (and should) treat it like any other day—not as a chance to give up on your goals. Eat breakfast, work out, track your foods and cook your favorite healthy meal for dinner. You’ll be so pumped up about making healthful decisions all day that you’ll be less likely to cave in to candy later. But make sure you don't fall into the "I’ve been good and need a reward" mindset, which can backfire (especially if that reward is food or candy). emoticon

emoticon Bring your own treat while your kids play tricks. While walking with the kids from door to door, bring a healthy drink or snack with you. You’ll be able to log some good steps on your pedometer and avoid reaching into the kids' bags. Hot tea, coffee, or warm apple cider will keep your hands busy and take a long time to finish due to their warm temperature. Even a munchy snack like edamame or homemade salt-free trail mix are all suitable options for a trick-or-treat take along. emoticon

emoticon Monitor your perspective. During Halloween, stores feature candy more prominently, but that same candy is available year-round. Keep repeating to yourself, “Candy is not a prized treat that only comes around once every 365 days.” This will help you ditch the feeling that you need to “load up” on Halloween goodies while the opportunity lasts. Candy will always be there, and if you really want some on Halloween or any day, you could have some. The less emphasis you place on the candy, the less control it will have over your cravings. Do you really WANT candy right now or did you not even think about candy until you saw it on the shelf? Probably the latter. emoticon

emoticon Here's a Trick and a calorie-free way you can celebrate Halloween without having a bags full of candy.

Dress up your pet. It's fun browsing and shopping for a cute costume. Then snapping and sharing pictures with family and friends. It will be fun to parade your dog around the neighborhood while all the kids are out trick-or-treating this Halloween. You can get (or make) a fun costume for your pet as an inexpensive way to enjoy the day. And unlike kids, dogs don't mind wearing the same costume year after year. emoticon

emoticon Peanut Butter Pumpkins.

Be a nut and putter your bumpkins. Have your own pumpkin patch right in your kitchen. After reading helpful reviews, I thought it best to emphasize that you should add sugar to the dough until it is very stiff and leave it at that. ...

Yield: 15 pumpkins

1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups peanut butter
1 (16 ounce) package confectioners' sugar, sifted
red food coloring
yellow food coloring
green decorators icing

Directions:

Melt butter in a large bowl and add a few drops of yellow and red food coloring, until mixture has a nice orange color.

Add the peanut butter and confectioners sugar and mix together until a doughlike consistency is reached. (This means that when the dough is nice and stiff and it gets hard to add any more sugar, to let it go at that).

Shape dough into small balls shaped like pumpkins; make ridges on the pumpkins with a toothpick.

Add a small amount of green decorators icing to the top of each pumpkin for a stem.

Refrigerate, if desired, to allow pumpkins to firm.

Serve on a plate lined with toasted coconut and Halloween decorated cookies, if desired; these also look good on top of cupcakes. emoticon

Oreo EyeBall Treat

8oz Philadelphia Cream Cheese Fat Free, softened
1 bag Reduced Fat Oreo Cookies
1 bag Nestle White Chocolate Morsels

Need toothpicks.

Directions
In food processor, chop up entire bag of oreo cookies as fine as possible

Soften Cream Cheese if necessary in microwave

Place Oreo Cookies and Cream Cheese in mixer and mix until blended well.

Place in refrigerator for about 1/2 hour to firm slightly.

Line 2 cookie trays with wax paper.

Roll oreo/cream cheese mixture into balls in palm of hand- I usually make mine about the size of small malted milk balls. Place on wax paper.

Place in freezer for approx 5-10 minutes to firm.

Melt chocolate in microwave according to time listed on package. If it says to add butter, do NOT do this! You may need to reheat once or twice.

Using 2 toothpicks per person - place one in center of cookie ball and dip into melted chocolate until it looks like an "eyeball" (not covering the cookie mixture entirely). Remove from chocolate & remove from toothpick by using other toothpick to help slide off - placing it back on the waxpaper.

Place in refrigerator for 5-10 minutes to help harden chocolate.

Here's a trick I've learned over the years. Buy candy that you don't like and that way you won't be tempted. I love fall. I'm going out trick or treating with my granddaughter and daughter. I hope to walk alot and have fun. I'm trying to find a costume for my little doggie. I think devil horns would be appropriate!!! Have a Happy Halloween everybody!!!!
