My endocrinologist suggested I try Victosa and I was also concerned about the thyroid cancer part of it. Whether in mice or humans the word "cancer" scares me away from trying anything new. I would rather not be writing down phone numbers displayed by a lawyer advertising on TV because "I've been hurt by some medication". I would rather let somebody else be the guinea pig for research by the pharmacutical companies. Sounds terrible I know but I have enough going on. I'll wait for the results.

I discussed this with my Endocronlogist and that study was in mice ONLY. They NEVER did a study in people. When I read that side effect, I was concerned at first.

I feel like everything has a downside.

I'vew been using Victoza for about 6 months now and am happy to report, I have neer been sick. I started with the lowest dose of .6 and I plan so that I eat breakfast within 30 minutes after I give myself the injection. I am now at the highest dosage of 1.8 units every morning. It makes a huge difference with my blood sugars. They continue to be lower.

I wish I could help those of you that get sick. I guess it isn't for all of us. emoticon

I take Victoza too. I had some nausea when I first started taking it, but it passed after a week or so. I'm now taking 1.8 units daily. We'll see if it works well, I've only been on it 2-3 months.

I take Victoza. My endocrinologist had me take half doses for a week to make sure I could tolerate it. Then I went to full dose, which in my case, is 1.2. I had no nausea at all to speak of. It does help you have a full feeling when eating. Of course, one can push past that full feeling; so you need to continue to be diligent. But, bottom line, it does make losing weight easier. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I don't know about this drug either. But all the advice is good. Also you can put it in online ,and find out things. My daughter does it all the time. You should of got a paper with it from drug store, they can print out a sheet of the side effects for you. If you have them for a long time, call your doctor. All drugs can make you sick, some make you gain weight have diarrhea or be constipated ,but if it last more then a couple of weeks I would call doctor.

Hi, emoticon
Just joining in with Mary and Miller's advice...Call your Pharmacist, I have found them to be the most reliable on honest drug reactions.
They are usually much more up to date, and unbiased of drug reactions, and interaction with anything else you may be taking.

And I Welcome you to the Team also!

Hi and welcome! I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I don't know anything about Victosa, either. I agree with the lady mary - I have found my local pharmacist to be very helpful in answering questions for me about various medications, and of course the doctor would know. You might also find some trusted sources online that would provide information (I usually use the Mayo Clinic's website, as I feel I can trust it.)

I just thought of something else - I don't know what kind of symptoms you're having, but when my husband first started using Metformin, he had horrible diarrhea, until he started taking it along with food. If you're having symptoms like that, you could check to see if you could take Victosa with food - it might help.

Good luck!

Miller emoticon
