it wouldnt hurt to contact the closest diabetes office and see if they have made arrangements for free bus service. I know here in MN buses arrive from several hours away to attend and deliver participants to the door of the convention center.

An annual event is the American Diabetes Expo. A link is included for you to check on when the event is in your area. An upcoming one in Minnesota will be at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Saturday, October 15, 2011. Admission to the Expo is free as well as transportation and free health screenings including A1C, blood pressure, BMI, Cholesterol, Diabetes risk assessment, eye screenings, foot screening, hearing screening, kidney disease screening, and sleep apnea screening. There are cooking demonstrations for making healthy food choices with sampling and recipes as well as product and service exhibitors. Experts in many fields will be on hand to answer questions.
This years Key Note Speakers in Minnesota include O'Neal & Sunshine Hampton two local people who were on Season 9 of the Biggest Loser will share their stories and weight loss as well as Mari Ruddy an athlete with type 1 diabetes. For more information follow this link.
