Great work on the measuring, Cerys! I fall into bad guestimations from time to time, also. That is one of the reasons I try to stick to the very low end of my calorie recommendations. lol

Today was my son's day to "cook". Usually he just chooses "soup and sandwiches", alternating between canned chicken noodle, tomato, and cream of mystery soups. Today I made a choice to teach him how to actually cook .. not just heat up processed food. He loved learning how to make my chili. It was delicious, healthy, and something he can do over and over again in years to come!

That sounds really organised!

As I am starting back this week to break old habits I have literally weighed and measured everything I have eaten rather than my pretty bad guesstimating, and it was definitely a good decision as its been a little bit of an eye opener! Have really been enjoying some salads this week, especially with a little sprinkling of sliced black olives on the top...so yummy makes reading spinach seem like a treat lol

My workout got rained out this morning, so I developed my own circuit at home. I pushed hard for 20 minutes rotating through exercise bike, lunges, and shoulder presses. I was even diligent to stretch afterward and throughout the day as I felt tight.

Then, this afternoon I prepped some food for the coming week. Cut carrot sticks, hard boiled eggs, snapped and blanched green beans, and made a batch of strawberry frozen yogurt.

Bring on a new week!

I haven't made a good food choice today. In fact, I haven't eaten anything at all.

I was at my son last night, and couldn't sleep. After I did fall asleep (5:30 am), my husband decided I needed to sleep, so I woke up about 1 pm. I'm still angry. Maybe angrier. I stomped back off to bed.

The food available to me in my room is a Snicker bar, which may be better than nothing. I do not want to go downstairs to prepare anything healthy .. it just seems wiser to stay out of everyone's way.

Nothing major yet today, but yesterday I got rid of leftover birthday cake instead of letting it stick around to tempt me :)

Edit at work: Ate a decent balance of foods today, right on target for water, and overall just rocked the whole food thing. :)

Veggie bag - I create zip lock bags full of veggies. They satisfy my crunch desire without any fat. They are in the front of my refridgerator so that I can quickly grab it when I am scrounging for food. Having these bags ready to go is a real success key for me. I only do 4 days at a time, else the cucumbers and peppers get slimmy. Yuch!

I did *NOT* stop at Wendy's on my way to work for a large fry. I reminded myself of the yummy strawberries, yogurt, and cheese I was bringing to work, and that I have lost 2.7 pounds since the 9th, and darn it, I wasn't going to ruin such an awesome Week One!

But...

I found that is the best way to do it. I usually take a full day's bag of meals and snacks with me when I go to work. This keeps me away from the "community goodies", vending machines, and restaurants in the building. I also save a lot of money to keep from buying food at work.

I happened to do a 3 month analysis of my spending. I was spending about 500 a month on takeout. While I selected salads or brothy soups, the choices at the Renaissance Center are a bit more expensive because it is in the heart of downtown Detroit. This spurred me to put my chef hat on....

That is amazing DONEGIRL4LIFE! Congrats on that =) I have been very pleased with myself that I have made time every night after the kids are in bed to plan out my food for the next day ahead of time so I could see how best to have a satisfying but health food day. Then in the morning when I wake up I just have to follow the pre-set plan =)

I cooked ahead and made all the meals and snacks for the weekend. This way I will not be tempted to pick up takeout or get bored. Today I made a Thai red curry shrimp stir fry. Tomorrow's menu includes chicken kabobs and tossed salad. For Sunday, I made mini turkey meatloaves and a garlic chicken kale soup. I prepared an assortment of raw fruits and veggies (more veggie than fruit) for snacking.

I've been really into eating spinach lately. I make up this big mix of zucchini, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, and spinach and I eat it every morning for breakfast. Get my veggies in early with an apple most days.

Hi SQUIRRELMOMMA1, I like cantaloupe too. Sometimes I have it with my breakfast and I usually would add a cup of yogurt to it. When I have that, plus a cup of coffee I leave my breakfast happy and satisfied.
Bananas are also rich in potassium . I like those too.

Cantaloupe. It is packed with potassium and I've had alot of trouble getting enough potassium. Cantaloupe and baked potatoes are my go-to for potassium and it seems to really help.

I make a nice home made milkshake. I use 1 cup of milk, 1 tsp of vanilla, 5 packs of sweeteners, and about 5 or 6 ice cubes. Put it all in the blinder and watch the magic happen. LOL.

I made a breakfast sandwich this morning with light Italian flat-out bread, an egg, and 1 cup of mushrooms and tomatoes. I added a little salsa sauce to it, which was very delicious.

I'm having a home made pizza, made with a flat bread pizza crust, with veggie cheese, and veggie sausage. And a nice salad with it...all for under 400 calories.

I had a doctor's appt. today. The Dr.'s office is in a town with a Wendy's fast food...the only one in our area. I'm not a fast food person, but I love Wendy's, so usually, whenever I have a doctors appt. I go there after. Today I thought about it but decided to eat my protein bar instead and wait until I got home to eat.

Mostly all fruits and veggies. That's my routine since I became a vegetarian almost 2 weeks ago.

I chose water over soda today and I am so proud of me for it. emoticon

This is my second day without a coke but yesterday I chose some lemonade instead couple of times but today I only drank water.

This doesn't mean I had the perfect day but I made some good chooses (not all emoticon ) and am glad I did.

SO GLAD FOR Allyssa on the binge free sparkin streak! That is a great achievement.

My healthy food choice today was tuna (in water) with 1 tbs ligt mayonaise and 2 tbs Mt Olive sugar free pickle relish on 4 WASA rye crackers. 1 medium apple and 4 brazilnuts (an acquired taste but these help keep my thyroid active).

Also been drinking all day long an ayuvedic "tea" for weight loss of ground cummin, fennel, and corriander. I really think this is making a difference for me.

More active around the house rather than sitting on my duff all day. Went down to get the trash barrels, then went back down to get the mail instead of getting them all at once. Usually I would leave it there and let my husband get it when he came home.
