Today I tried the Old Fashioned Potato Salad p.127 and in our opinion, this is the BEST potato salad!! I added a dash of garlic, used cider vinegar than distilled, and about a tablespoon of dill relish, but other than that, I made it how it said. even DH took one bite and said I could make that again anytime and reminded him of his mother's.
it is very good. 5+ stars!

Mustard sounds just right! Too bad it's not tomato sauce. I'm working hard on only cooking out of my pantry for the next few months. We have a ton of stuff that needs to be eaten before it goes bad. Way too full of a pantry.
Okay, today I made 4 recipes from the OPen Road Cookbook. Fort Lauderdale Banana Pie, page 225. This was very good, though I did not make it like a pie. As I had no cool whip, I added the milk instead of the coolwhip, and it was too runny, so I added another package of pudding. It was very good. I put it into goblets alternating between the pudding and raspberries. So yummy, and so pretty.
BBQ sandwiches, page 113, very good, just like sloppy jos. If you like sloppy jos, you will like this.
Green bean succotash, page 133. this was okay, but nothing special. just tasted like green beans and corn. A good way to get in more veggies, but nothing special.
Carrot Raisin relish, page 121. this was super good. I first put the raisins in the bottom of the bowl, and added everything but the carrots, to help the raisins absorb the moisture. Then I grated the carrots. Added it in. Let it sit for a few hours, and the raisins were nice and plump. This tasted very good. I will make it again.
It was a yummy supper, with lots of fresh fruits and veggies, the raspberries, and bananas, raisins, carrots, beans, corn, and onions in the sloppy jos. Patty
Yeah that's because Judy and I've been working on linking them to the recipes here. Ruthbond site used to have the links going to the recipes on the HE site, but since we lost all them, Judy and I have been working on getting them linked up to the ones here. Thanks to you, Red, and many others we have almost all the old recipes back up. Sadly we have lost all the banter about them that was on the HE site.
Pineapple Orange Salad was very good and Old Fashioned Potato Salad was also very good.
Both recipes are in our recipe forum but I could not reach them by the search feature. Just click on the Ruth Bond web site in Heather's post and then click on the recipe and it will bring you back to the recipe in our Spark Team recipes. Weird but it works.
This book has some of my favorite recipes. My very favorite is the Chocolate Peanut Butter Bread pudding. It's soooooo good! I'll have to go through and find the rest of the ones I have tried and loved in this great book.
