Maidrite Burgers

filling mixture
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1-1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1 Tablespoon brown sugar
1-1/2 Tablespoon prepared, yellow mustard
2 Tablespoon ground cumin
2 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper

meat mixture
1-1/2 pound ground meat(beef, pork, turkey or meatloaf mix)
2 medium onions, finely chopped
1 Tablespoon chopped or minced garlic
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 cup water

In large heavy skillet, saute all meat mixture ingredients until onions are translucent and water has evaporated. Do not brown the meat. Break up large pieces while cooking. Drain off fat reduced from meat. Return to heat and add the ingredients listed above for maid rites filling.

i should have added that you start with the meat mixture first and cookit according to the directions then you add the the stuuf above the meat mixture to finish the sanwhich sorry....

I thought everyone knew what maidrights were. Must be an Iowa thing. I'm from Marathon (about 30 miles south of Spencer). All our local fund raisers have made maidrights for years as their favorite sandwich.

Loose Meat Sandwiches

Serving Size : 8


Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
1 pound ground beef, extra lean -- beef, pork, turkey, or meatloaf mixture
2 whole onions -- medium, finely chopped
1 tablespoon garlic -- chopped or minced
1 teaspoont kosher salt
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons mustard powder
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons prepared mustard -- a good deli mustard
2 tablespoons cumin -- ground
2 tablespoons vinegar, cider
1 teaspoon salt -- kosher
1 teaspoon black pepper -- ground
8 whole hamburger bun, low calorie

In large heavy skillet, saute 1st 5 ingredients until onions are translucent and water has evaporated. Do not brown the meat. Break up large pieces while cooking. Drain off fat reduced from meat. Return to heat and add the ingredients listed above for maid rites filling.


In place of water you can use beer or coke.
