Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it’s a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they’re terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

Okay, weigh-in time
When I started this weigh-in thread I was 134.2
After that I zoomed up to 136 in about 2 weeks time
Since then I've been losing fairly steadily so this morning's scale said 133.
This is wonderful. My frumpy skirt is pretty loose, falling down and hanging on my hips. Boy, does THAT feel good! especially thinking that back in January I weighed 139 (heaviest EVER! Even when prego I never got above 142. I was young and thin way back then)
Guess I better readjust my ducky ticker.

Well I guess you are right Annie and Laura! I do see a difference in the belly measurements if it is something I ate that bloated me but maybe it is a genuine 2#!! I will now turn that frown upside down emoticon emoticon

I don't know what's going on exactly but this morning's moment on the scale showed another .8 of a pound gone. I am being somewhat more careful about portions and I work hard at not munching between meals (pretty hard anyway). The three main changes in my diet the past 2 months are (1) cutting way, way down on grains (almost to zero), (2) using coconut oil a lot and (3) taking about 4 to 6 tsps ACV every day.

I am happy about this because I have been sick over all the weight I gained in the past year and a half and was starting to believe that I was just stuck with it. And even more important is that most of the weight is around my middle and I've been reading about how visceral fat is a killer AND that sugar in all it's forms is the major culprit. That includes starchy carbs like grains and potatoes. This is scary to think about. Sometimes a good scare can make it easier to make changes.

I'm beginning to think that maybe we've really hit on something with this quasi-paleo/primal thing and coconut oil.

Oh, the other thing I've been doing is letting my body have a long fast between dinner and breakfast. I try real hard to not eat anything after 6 or 7 at the latest and then not eat breakfast until after 10am. This in itself has given me digestive relief and my hunger patterns have changed.

I sure hope this sticks!!

Thank you, thank you *she bows*, thank you all.
Tomorrow is two (count them, two) big group feasts. I am preparing food for both of them. I know there will be a lot of very bad things at these feasts--bready things, sweet, sugary things, cakey things. OMG, will I survive?? I haven't had any grains for a week and in that week I lost 2 of those pounds!

I'm NOT preparing any of those bad things NO NO NO!
SO NO EXCUSES DUCKY!!

OK - I'll join in, I need to get the scale moving. This morning I'm at 172.2.

My vegan broccoli quiche I'm having for lunch today was made with coconut oil to sautee the onions, garlic and broccoli and I also used it to "grease" the pie dish since I made it without a crust.

Good going MAYBELLE! I am down to 160, but I m not going to record that. I have been HYPER all week nd have hd diarriah and hardly exercised at all. I may just be a little dehydrated and may have even lost some muscle... so for now, I am not really counting this as a victory (as much as I would like to)

AWESOME weight loss Maybelle! CINDYTW it is more likly water retention I wouldn't worry about it...how was the measurements? That to me is what is important, the scale can't tell you if your gaining muscle or holding in water it can only tell you how much in total you do weigh. I have decided I am going to weigh and take measurements when I am done my 30 day challenge which is in 8 days. Yep works best for me that way no dissapointments weekly and a great shock at the end if this 30 day challenge goes great lol and if not at least it is only one day to be dissapointed emoticon But I know I am losing weight my hip bones and other bones are showing and my muscle is showing way more as well...loving it! emoticon

April 17-134.8

Thought since you guys are weighing in on Sundays I would join you too, it was definite motivation to stay on track on Saturday which is a hard day for me. I stuck to my calorie intake and no sugar and I've lost more since Friday! I'm so excited! Although I'm only just getting back to where I started this challenge.

Ani said-I have started putting a glop of thick coconut milk (the pure, canned kind) in my chai the last 3 or 4 mornings. I think it's getting habit forming.

Now this is good! Tried oil in my tea and it was yucky.

Awesome! My scale had actually gotten down to 157, but I was little dehydrated from the HYPER thyroid symptoms. I will weigh myself on Sunday.

-Dr. Andrew Saul

.8 is nothing Cindy. I gaine exactly 2 pounds two days before TOM, like clockwork. It's just water... so it doesn't count.
