It feels so great to be focusing and losing weight! I hope I can stay at it for a long time.

Today I hit the gym after work and improved my personal best time on the treadmill and elliptical. I did 2 miles on the treadmill in 26.24 then a mile on the elliptical in 11.13 and another in 11.03. I also did 8 strength machines, 2 bike bikes and an extra half mile on the treadmill just to cool down.
I better hit the shower!

FG and WW way to go on staying positive :)
I should be focusing like you two :)
I'm trying...just kind of in a state of "dah" for now until some of this medical stuff is resolved and of course dealing with the "in-direct affects" of Sandy everyday. People are back to living out of their cars b/c they are closing evacuation centers...the 10 days that FEMA provided some in a hotel have run out....its just so sad. I'm glad they evacuated but i just feel horrible that they dont know which way to turn now.
I heard on the radio today that a lot of the centers were turning people away that had pets. Apparently in Katrina that was one of the problems that people stayed back for, and a law was passed a few years back that was suppose to help this...hmmm?.

Some people are just now today...being allowed to go to their house..or moreso, where there house was.

So, I really should focus on the positive that I am blessed with a house and my family is well, and I'm warm, have electric, job etc.

Be proud of your accomplishments, no matter how big or small. Try not to compare yourself to others...this is about YOU...and YOU are worth it!! :))

I like Mondays! It's a fresh start. I'm well rested and ready to go. I got my work done quickly then went straight to the gym. I did 2 miles on each treadmill, elliptical and bike and some machines. I feel strong! And tired. I better get to bed.

Havent' seen your blog on the Comet Falls hike yet. Can't wait. Rattlesnack mountain was very interesting. I was in a goofy mood when I looked at it and I am sure people will read my comment and wonder what insain person put a comment on your blog, but it just struck me funny. We used to make all kinds of jokes and short stories about Rattlesnack Mountain.

Today I am feeling a lot silly. Not sure why. I went to bed at 9p and woke up at 1a so maybe that is it. The house was freezing as I had checked the settings on the environmental controls yesterday and put it back to cool only instead of auto as I though I had. At 70°, it was very cold in the bedroom, but I was sweating like it was 90°. Anyway, a quick run through the "freezing cold" to check the controls and put them to right then run back to the bed and cover up again was pure torture but well worth it.

I didn't reawake until nearly 8a. Been busy with several things this morning and have a list of things to do. Doing laundry all through it makes it seem more busy, but while my joints are stiff, my hands feel like wooden paddles and my fingers really gripe about having to bend, the exercise and constant movement is better than huddling in bed and hoping it changes sooner than later.

I hope all of you are having fun, getting all the things done that you have to get done so there is no guilt feelings lingering, and everything in your lives is going great for you.

I'm off to the busy again. emoticon

I am POSITIVILY staying inside today. For me, it's just too cold. It's beautiful outside, but it's too cold. Everytime I go out there my bones freeze up in seconds and I feel like the Pilsbury Doughboy in concrete! - I could move faster by rolling. Sorry to be a drag, but I can assure you, as soon as it warms up to pool time again, I'm in there. I miss it. I can do the gym and as soon as DH comes home, I will be doing that. Walks are okay as long as I'm burried under warm clothes, but my feet hurt when I get home, and I don't mean like you just took of your heels, I mean like a mac truck ran over them. They are stiff as boards!

Hopefully, tomorrow will be warmer.

Have a good one!

Well, I am glad to hear everything you said, except the legalization of marijuana. But I really don't have anything against it, except I've been in a room where people were smoking it and it stinks to high heaven. I don't understand wanting to put a weed in your mouth and setting it on fire, but if you want to do it, it's fine, just warn me first so I can evac the area as I don't like the smell and I've got enough problems breathing now so just don't want to be around the smoke.

I, to am thrilled with the results, so glad to hear you are, too.

WA is a democratic stronghold and FL is a republican stronghold. When I lived in WA I was a republican. Now I'm a democrate. Why did I switch parties when I moved? To be honest, I didn't think it was going to be a problem and I wasn't planning on switching, but when I got here, I could not believe the Bible thumping and Bible spitting republicans. They have such a narrow agenda on everyone here. WA is a lot more leanient than Florida, yet they legalize people toting guns! It makes no sence. Plus when I was a republican it was at the start of the changes in the republican party and a lot of republicans were pulling out and just barely forming the TeaParty. So when the TeaParty was formed, I checked it out and that's where a lot of the Bible thumping republicans went. I wanted nothing to do with them - at least none of them here. I believe people should have rights without our Federal government getting into the action. We have police and state government to take care of the day-to-day issues in each state and I don't like the federal government jumping into the frakus.

Anyway, I'm going to find out who is who in WA by going to the state government page and seeing how things stacked up there. The national stuff doesn't really do any of it justice.

Have a great one.

I am glad it is over and thrilled with the results! I went to bed as soon as it was obvious the President Obama won.
I am also happy with the results here in WA that I am seeing now. Many democrats won.
I am proud that we legalized marijuana and gay marriage!
Today I will be happy to listen to politics on the radio!

And I lost a pound=)

Well - another one is done and Obama wins again. It was interesting to see how the results turned out. I saw a map this morning showing the states that went democrate (Blue) and the states that went republican (Red) - Florida is green because they haven't called it in yet, so the 29 electorial votes don't matter.

I never saw an Obama/Biden sign, but I saw plenty of Romni/Ryan signs. I don't do the signs, but it is extremely interesting to see the signage and then learn how it worked last night. Guess we don't need those stupid signs.

But it is over! I am so glad! Other than my vote, I had nothing to do with it and no control whatsoever over any of it, but I was so tense last night, I knew I was going to blow a gasket if I didn't walk away from it and ignor it then come back and see who won. For me, it worked well. I got my sleep and feel better this morning. Some of that pressure is gone.

I know what you mean on those political ads. You don't know what to believe. I did find a TV station that had a woman who called herself Melissa of Nerdland. She was sitting at the perverbial news type desk and talking about what President Obama really did during his first 2 years and then the TeaParty took over the house or changed the house and they would do nothing for anyone as their goal was to break the government and they accomplished that. But Obama still managed to get a few things done. I don't think Mitt will get anywhere until the TeaParty gets out. I can't believe we let a group of narrow agenda focused people get in there like that. Well - there is a lot I don't know so I'll get off the subject. I don't know, you might like the TeaParty. But I learned a lot of things from this Melissa of Nerdland. On all topics government, not just the candidates but why this can't happen until that happens and why that is allowed to go on and how we can stop this or what we need to do for this. I understand there will be no more shows like that as she said it was her last show. Too bad, she was educational.

Have a great one and Way to Go on the exercise. It is raining and dark here today so the pool is not useable as we are also having thunder occasionally, which means there's lightening in the area and we don't use the pool even if we don't see the lightening.

Have a good one.

Way to go FG!

I am feeling good about myself too. I am sticking to my food plan. I went to the gym after work and got two miles done on the treadmill in 27 min, 2 elliptical miles in 24 min and 2 bike miles in 12. I also did two sets on 8 of the strength machines.
I better go log that.

P.S. I am changing the radio station in my truck every time a political ad comes on. I am so sick of the trash talk.

Well, I feel good about myself. I did everything I had to do today, I've stuck to my meal plan and I'm even a tiny short on each meal making me under that 30 carbs per meal concept. All in all, it is a good day and I am aiming at another full day tomorrow of getting my plan done, start to finish and no missteps.

I am working on how to ignore the analytical BS about the election tomorrow on the tv. They have analyzed every word, every movement, fouund look-a-likes to interogate, and analyzed it down to the pixels and all that will garner nothing for the election except to make us aware of how much money they have spent on this election and how long. 18 months and over 1 billion in advertising and I don't think that counts the conventions and the travel and the rallies and all the other crap!

I am so sick of it. I just want them to shut up about it, move one or the other into the white house and let's get on with the rebuild of our nation. And quite frankly I think it is ridiculous to spend this much time and money on it. The UK does it in 6 weeks! I'm all for that. if we can't make up our minds in 6 weeks, we're idiots.

We could have spent a great deal of that money in other places - like some of it could have gone to getting our debt down, some more of it could have fixed other things like our bridges and we could have got a lot of people out of starvation mode, to name a few issues.

So let's move on because I'm ready to throw the TVs out. I just screamed at my DH about the analytical crap on the election and he is afraid to have any of it on. Poor guy. Gotta go apologize to him.

Have a great one!

I am glad you went to the doctor. Now you know what it probably is, or at least you are trying to figure it out. That is good.

Being around candy never works for me, plan or not. For me - it is best to just stay away from it. I think I am learning that about a lot of things. I really wonder if I will ever learn. I know I can be disaplined when I need to. Unfortunately - too many things are no disapline required. I'm just bad.

I wish I had more money than Mit. There are so many people in the NE that I want to help through this mess Sandy left behind. I love helping people. It hurts when I can't. Right now my heart is hurting bad. I hope this is not a harbinger of what is to come!

One thing people should learn, regardless of where they live. When you hear a hurricane is coming, gas up your vehicles, to the max and keep them that way because after the storm, there is no gas - there's water in the pumps and the tanks. So it isn't good gas anymore. The tanker trucks can't get to the gas pumps and they can't put new gas in the tanks until the old gas and water has been drained and if there's sand in the tanks, they have to get it out, too. Major problems and time and money utilized. Also, you may have water and sand in your tank, too. I don't know how it gets in, but it can.

Get as much money from your bank account that you can and keep it safe. Often times, the power is out to the bank and you can't get money and atms don't work either. If the main bank is hit, the computer may be down for days or weeks while they rebuild. You come second in their plan of attach.

I guess so many people in the NE did not know this as so many are lined up for a mile in places trying to get gas. Those people are hurting so bad and there isn't enough help fast enough for them. After the storm is worse than the store itself. Not fun at any level. Patience is put to the test to the maxium. There is going to be a lot of people that will need mental health after this and that should not be a surprise to anyone.

FG, I'm glad you are feeling better!

The doctor, a urogynocologist, gave me a list of foods and drinks that might irritate the bladder. Strangely some are healthy things. I have been off the tea for a week and I have been taking my pills at all the right times and am feeling better with very little pain this week. She told me that the pills take up to 6 weeks to work so I don't know if the pills just kicked in or if kicking the tea helped. If it's the pills I think it might confirm the diagnosis if interstitial cystitis, a chronic condition with no cure. I am confident that with the doctors help we will manage it.

It was fun handing out candy last night. Some of the grandkids came by and some kids that we have known since our kids were little came with their kids. The kids get so excited when they see the big bowl of full sized candy bars.
I failed at my plan to eat just one. I had four Kit Kat's. The scale is up a pound this morning but it will be back down soon.

Hi, Everyone!

I am past my depression - seems like it took a mini vac to do it though. It was a change of evrything for a couple of days. Orlando can be expensive, we didn't let it get that way for us so it is also controllable. I am feeling better now.

WW - maybe caffeine is contributing to your issue? My doctor wants me to stop drinking coffee. He didn't tell me why and I am having no end to difficulty over quiting it. However, soda pop - even zero cals and everything else was causing me stomach problems. It was the carbonated water. For me, I find that if I reach a point (unknown to me where the point is) my body causes me severe pain and by process of elimination I can figure out what it is and stop taking it. Then I feel better.

However, your issues could be a lot worse than too much of something and it would be more than wise if you went to the doctor on it. It could be something that requires immediate attention and putting it off would be the very wrong thing to do.

Doing good here. Hope both of you are doing well, too. Have a SparklingDay!

I did have a wonderful day yesterday. Got almost everything on my list done and sat on my bum a fair amount too=)
I stopped drinking tea to see if it may be contributing to my bladder pain. I hope I wont be sleepy while driving truck today. I packed a caffeine pill just in case.
This is my Friday. YAY!

It's my day! I didn't go to work today!
At one time I had a doctor appointment so I scheduled the day off. I cancelled the appointment because I really don't want to become a new patient of that doctor. But I didn't cancel the day off! I will spend some time researching female doctors that are taking new patients.
But for the most part I will spend the day doing whatever I want.
As soon as hubby leaves I will get on the elliptical for 30 minutes then I can shower and get ready for shopping, haircut, few chores and ???

I am struggeling with being positive right now. I seem to feel down in the dumps and don't know why. Depression is such an ugly thing and is a constant fight because your bios can be off slightly and then you are down in the dumps.

I know what's wrong and how to fix it, just need some time to get past it. Hate these times, need to find a positive about it and keep going.

Today, I am working on being positive about my attitude towards food and PORTION CONTROL!

I am eating the right food, just too much of it. It's like my tongue enjoys what I am eating so much it refuses to discuss anything with the brain and stomach so therefore ignores what the stomach is telling the brain and the brain is a bit lopsided when it comes to who's boss. It really likes the tongue to be happy and really doesn't care that the stomach is saying it's full! I wish there was a way to "twick" the brain into being more "stomach controlled" instead of "tongue contolled".

I'm going to start a "calendar" today - it's to try to help recondition the brain over to the stomach side of things.

Have a great one!

emoticon WW! Glad it's working for you! emoticon

I managed to get it all written down yesterday, so I will catch up my Food Tracker today, I am trying to remember that just because I'm not near my computer when I eat something, doesn't meant I can forget it and let it go because it does effect my psychy later on. It just shuts me down and that's been my problem all along. I can do good for awhile keeping track of what I'm eating, but then I eat something and forget to write it down or log it in and then I feel like I just blew it so I blow the rest of the day off.

I did well when I pre-tracked the entire day one week. I had it all figured out before I ate it and then I didn't have to worry about a lot of things, so I will be working on going back to that style again.

I got in two hikes again this weekend! A local one Friday and one at Mount Rainier Saturday.
Today is chore and rest day. I'm back from the grocery store and am starting some planning and cooking that will help me stay healthy through the work week.
The scale is saying nice things to me=) I am down 11.5 pounds since I started playing with the Paleo Diet 5 weeks ago.
I better get up and back at it.
Have a great week everybody!

10.12.12.....Me and my husband went out to meet an old friend of mine who is in town. Our kids were best friends when they were younger.

Sitting there listening made me and my husband appreciate our kids soooooooo much more and we are so much more grateful ... not sweating some of the small stuff. I was pretty much aware of this...but my husband, I believe was taking having "good" kids for granted...I think last night changed that.

We are Blessed!

It's a rest day for me but when my daughter asked if I wanted to go walk with her I said YES and drove us to Chambers Bay and walked/jogged the 3+ mile loop around the fancy golf course.
It's been the driest summer ever here but today was the last of the sunshine. BUMMER!
I'm so glad we went out and enjoyed it today.

With big rain storms coming Tom and I are changing our hiking plan. No, we won't break our streak but we won't be going to Kendall Katwalk as we planned. We have two shorter options that are close so we can pick when we get there depending how bad the rain is..

I found that I have to sign into the hated FB before I can view the pix now. I think they changed something or maybe I was signed in before and didn't realize it, but it doesn't matter, I'll sign in and look at them, then sign back out - no problem.

I am being positive about my lifestyle. I know I need to change from being so negative - not entirely negative, but enough and changing to a more positive person. I want yes to be the first thought and word coming out of my mouth instead of no. I know where I got the attitude and since I'm working at being a better person along with having a healthier lifestyle, why not make the change, too. So Have a cupa your favorite healthy beverage in a toast to being more positive!

I am sorry some of you can't see the FB photos. I double checked that it is set as "public."

I had another day of mostly good eating. Well dinner was umm..interesting. My daughter made a shepherds pie that had pumpkin in it. I'm not a fan of pumpkin but I did gag down a small serving so as not to hurt her feelings. I got a little help from Heinz on the last couple of bites.

WW - we miss you, but we understand the problem. I've been there, too. At some point it all works out and you feel like you have more time to get it all done, or you fill up the extra time you feel like you have with other things - it all works out.

I didn't get to see the pictures of your North Cascade Highway post, but I have to go to a different sight to get to it - Found out that I can't see your pictures anymore unless I first sign onto Facebook, which I hate! (Facebook). It irritates me that they made it that way.

We did the North Cascades Loop one weekend and we went up someplace, hiking, sort of, we could stand at this one spot which was total rock and look across a valley to see Liberty Bell Mountain. I took a picture of a friend that made it look like he was climbing up a sheer rock wall (I was looking down on him and you can't see anything but his head and both arms and hands and then a lot of trees way below) but he was standing on a rock ledge about 6 feet wide, that angled upwards and it was the trail we took to get up to where we were. Angles can make things so much more interesting. Another friend took a picture much lower of him doing this little stunt and you could see him standing on this trail and it looked like he was trying to take a shortcut to the top. He didn't, he finished walking up the trail to us, but it was quite interesting to put the two pictures together. You really got the whole picture.

We stayed in Winthrop, too. Cute little town. It had murals all over it, I think. One of those little towns along the highway had murals all over it. There are so many places to check out in the WA cascades, probably all along the Cascades, but in WA, it's much closer to home and it makes the travel time to and from so much less that you get to spend more time hiking and enjoying what you really want to see.

Have you ever camped out on the Pacific Crest Trail? I've heard it is fun, but can be dangerous, (weather, wild animals - the four and two legged kind). I would not camp out up there because of that last item, but also, I don't like hauling a bunch of stuff on my back and climbing, too. Plus camping to me has to have 4 stars attached to it, which means a toilet, at least, plus a few other ammities.

I'll get to the pictures somehow.

Today, I'm working on my attitude (more positive). Have a lot to do and I need to get with it.

Have a Sparkling Day!

After some over-eating Friday and Saturday I got right back on track yesterday and today I went to the gym after work and am eating good.
I've been away from the computer more because I am up and moving so I am not keeping up with all of my Spark things. Sorry I haven't been answering the questions much lately.

I just posted a blog to report on how well I kept my October goals in the last week. When I began doing this last month I was hesitant because it felt like I was setting myself up to make my failures public. It is very easy for me to take the places where I fail and make them bigger than they are, and forget all about the accomplishments. Posting my progress reports helps me to keep the bigger picture before my eyes. Keeping account of the goals that I have met not just the ones I failed to meet helps me keep a more positive attitude. I can see the 6 days of eating well, and pick myself up from one bad day (or meal) better than I was able to in the past.

Keep losing more weight - down 2 "officially" today. SP may only show one but that's because I forgot to change my tracker. I keep forgetting to go to the Weight Center since they made the changes. Hopefully this will get me to go there everyday again.

Having a hard time dealing with the mass confusion all the "tourists" (Northerners) bring down with them. More traffic, no parking spaces - they all have placards so there are no handicapped parking places during "season" and they don't appear to need them as they walk just fine without crutches, walkers, or any other assistance. No room to sit down anywhere and the shops and restaurants, stores, and beaches are full of them.

However, the pool is not full of them yet - at least not early so I can still get my stuff done. I just have a real negative attitude about the "Season" and make constant remarks about them. If I could just channel that energy elsewhere, I might be able to turn it into a positive instead. Need to stay away from a girlfriend that got me started on this in the first place.

Have a great one!

Super Job! I failed, but I can try again today and tomorrow. Eventually, I will win.

I'm working on portion control today - and good choices. I am trying to make another week of weight loss - one I don't want back. Planning on having a weight loss at the doctor's office early December this year.

So I am gearing up for positive because I will need it.

10.03.12 I have been thinking about the QOTD, the challenge of the day and this Clubhouse Positivity Thread and wondering what we are doing with it. I like what I am seeing, and others seem to like it too. We have had some new people join, then hang on for a couple of days and disappear. What's with that? Are we not what they were looking for afterall? I know we can't please everyone and I don't even want to try, but what can we do about it? We can't demember anyone as Spark is not a place to make people feel lousy because they were demembered by some "know-it-all-leader" and I wouldn't go there anyway, but should we try to find out if these people really want to be members? I like participation. No, you do not have to participate in every thread - I do because I built a lot of them and I like all of them, but that is beside the point. This is my family. I come here every morning and say hello, at least. Most of the time, I have enough time to do all the threads or most of the threads.

Anyway, I think I have a challenge breeding in my mind, now the question is, daily or weekly?

Guess you know where I'm going! emoticon

That is so positive and so good for both of you. I am proud to be your friends.

I am feeling very positive today. I guess I'm still riding high on my 5 pound weight loss. But I don't care how long I ride that wave, if it gets me to the next 5 pound drop. Believe me, being stalled on your journey for a very long time is not fun. But there's another positive wave for me, actually two. 1. I can see the positive things a lot better, and, 2. I can stick with it. Those are pretty important mile stones for me.

Hi, CW! Did you find the exercise helped relieve some of the stress? I bet you did. Now all you have to do is figure out what things in your life you can eliminate that are causing you some of that stress. The more stress-supplying things you can get rid of, the less stress you will have. You may not be able to see anything at this point because you are too close to it, but tomorrow, something might be starting to standout and you can start weighing in on if it's something that needs to go or if you are keeping it and why.

I know I have to do this occasionally, too. I think everyone should do it, maybe on a scheduled basis. The more we work to complete a "task" on time, the more often we hit the mark. You only need to think about it to get it started, you'll know what to do when you get there.

You are loved here, so just love yourself and be patient with yourself, too.

Have a SparklingDay! emoticon

Ok! I'm back and tracking everything and really determined. Discovered that Splenda has been proven to keep people that use it to not lose weight. That has been my problem, I think, for the last year plus. So now I'm done with vacation and artificial sweeteners and coffee (caffeine) and I hope it will not take long before I can start losing weight again.

So my positivity is to be happy and constantly being aware of what I am doing and eating as they all seem to have a huge reaction on my life.

Have a great one!

My positive is - I don't know right now. I think I am too tired. I hope I have something very positive tomorrow. Good night, all!

I stocked up on fresh veggies today so that tomorrow I can have eggplant parmesan and a green salad for dinner. Will also make sweet and sour red cabbage.

Trying something a little different than a game...
Come here and name ONE positive thing you have accomplished for the day.
If you come here early (you can do it for the day prior)
It can be positive accomplishments for Spark goals or anything you feel positive about.

Looking forward to sharing the positivity!
