I have been using my Vitamix for about 10 years now. Definately worth the investment.

I have the Vitamix and have used it just about every day for over a year. I like it a lot. I went through 3 blenders before buying this one but I blend frozen fruit a lot.

Does everyone who has a Vitamix think it is totally worth it? My cheap food processor broke a while back and I've been saving up for a Vitamix ever since, and I'll be buying one soon but I'm still a bit iffy.

When you buy a blender, you need to look not only at power but safety and clean up.

Linda, I had a similar question a little while ago. If you'd like to read the responses I got to that (including food processor info as well as blenders) just put the word "Blenders" in the Search line, just above the list of topics.

Some people think the “plant-based whole foods diet” is extreme. Half a million a year will have their chests opened up and a vein taken from their leg and sewn onto their coronary artery. Some people would call that extreme.

There are many lower cost blenders, but I have to be honest with you they aren't anywhere near as powerful as a Vitamix or Blendtex. Keep your eyes open for sales we got our Vitamix for a steal because we bought it at a store that was going out of business.
You can make smoothies in a regular blender just remember to blend in between adding ingredients or it will get stuck.

I've had a Magic Bullet for years and have used it for smoothies, etc but will try my Osterizer for green smoothies. Just chop up veggies before blending. The vitamix was almost $500 at whole foods. 'course it blends whole carrote, beets etc.
Gonna start green smoothies to see if they cut down my cravings. Sure would love to lose some weight too!

I am using a Hamilton Beach blender and it works okay but I would sure love a vitamix or the ninja. My sister has the ninja she got at WalMart for about 80. She loves it.

Linda - Here's a link to the KitchenAid blender on sale right now at Tuesday Morning shop.tuesdaymorning.com/dsp_productD

They're also in the Tuesday Morning stores; the sale started March 6. I have found buying online is less frustrating than going to a TM store and finding out it only got 2 of something.

I recently purchased the kitchen aid at Tuesday Morning. $180 blender for $80. Just went on sale this month. I watched side by side comparison video done of 5 of the top blender which included the vitamin and blentec. The kitchen aid beat out all the others on blending a whole orange in soy milk. Their online purchases has it for $70. I've only used it twice for
my green smoothie and I LOVE it....so creamy, like Ice cream. Sure hope it holds up

Victoria boutenko said that in Russia they don't have vitamix, but they are doing fine with regular blenders. chop the food you put in, that makes less work for the blender

Before I got my Vitamix I just used a regular blender. Well I should say I used 3 other blenders because I burnt them out pretty quickly with all the frozen fruit I was using.

I would consider a couple things to help you make the decision. first, what are you blending? Is it frozen? Are you blending vegetables like carrots and beets? If you aren't blending frozen fruits or hard root veggies any regular blender will work. If you ARE blending frozen fruit and root veggies you might want to consider purchasing one like the Ninja or the Vitamix or Blentech. Just my opinion. I LOVE my Vitamix and have used it every single day since I bought it in July.

If you simply can't make that large of a purchase baby whatever blender you do choose. Blend in batches. Put a small amount in the blender give it a whirl then add more and so on. If you get one that has an ice feature you should be fine for a while. My brother-in-law used a stick blender for a while until he got a blender. I wouldn't recommend that because his smoothies weren't smooth at all, in fact they were quite chunky. LOL

Manu use cheaper models all over the spectrum. Youtube has different choices. For me cheaper is too expensive in effort and final product. Also blades of cheap models go dull and the list goes on. Fruit can be done in any blender.

I have a Ninja blender that I like quite a bit. I've been using it for smoothies for about six to eight months now. I got the "deluxe" version that has two different size canisters and a couple of different blending/mixing attachments for $150.

The only thing that I don't like about it is with the square shape of the canisters, I often need to stop blending and use a spatula to pull chunks out of the corners. If you go that route, use an old/cheap spatula because the blades are very sharp and will cut the silicone just by rubbing against them the wrong way.

Hi everyone, I am very new to this way of eating/living. I would love a Vitamix to make green smoothies but just don't want to spend the money right now. Is there something less expensive that will get the job done or am I just wasting money that I will eventually put into a Vitamix anyway?
Thanks.Linda
