I'm an elliptical girl.
I'm also a running girl.
Either way - I have no problem with the exercise. It's the eating....the eating...the eating...and only at night....curses...

May your life be filled with miracles and your cup overflow with blessings.

I went to the library to get a Jillian Michaels DVD. Our large branch is usually well-stocked, but I couldn't get one today. I got several other workout DVDs.

First I did Dancing with the Stars Fat-Burning workout. I'm a slow learner on this one, but I can tell it's getting my heart rate up.

The one I did today is the New York City Ballet Workout. Love it. It's a more tranquil pace, but sure takes concentration and muscle focus. No mirrors in the room, so in my mind's eye I'm super graceful and coordinated. I think that's good for my diet.

That's great, Shazamela - anything is better than nothing and you burned lots more calories than you would have driving! Plus you got your points! :-)

So, I was struggling with when i was going to get my exercise in today. I usually get it out of the way first thing in the morning, but my son had an early chess tournament that I wanted to go to. (It was an important one as he agreed that for every game he lost he would cut 1/2 inch off of his mop top, so I was watching each game quite closely. emoticon )

But then I had to go to the store this afternoon and, despite the freezing temperature outside, I decided to walk. It was 10 minutes each way, and the way home i was carrying both a full backpack and a cloth shopping bag, so my heart rate went up a little. Not my usual intense exercise, but better than being a couch potato!

You're right, we deserve a prize for finishing 30DSD. I'll have to give that some thought too. Might be time to get some new clothes!

On that Jillian team we're on, the leader posts a new rotation every month I think. I haven't looked into it too much but that's always an option.

Thanks for the advice. I'm trying to figure out what I want to do after 30-Day-Slimdown...Maybe one of the bikini bod challenges...Not sure. I was even thinking about training for a half-marathon, although I wouldn't be able to get much outside running in...It would have to be on the treadmill for the most-part until spring, probably! I know I'm definitely going to reward myself with a gift of some sort when I finish 30DSD. I could use some new sneakers for sure!

I get access to Exercise TV through my cable company on my TV for "free" - it's part of my cable service. I personally wouldn't pay the $14.95 fee; the workouts I mentioned cost less than $10 on iTunes and then you own them forever. They're a really good alternative to Jillian, similar in content. A little less cardio, a little more body-part focused. I really enjoyed them and will do the rotation again when I have a busy month or just need some variety.

Cathy, is the exercise TV on demand the online site? I looked into joining and it indicates that it costs $14.95 but it wasn't clear whether that was a one-time fee or a monthly fee...

I LOVE Jillian, but sometimes I need a break. November was one of those months. I used Chris Freytag's 10 Pound Slimdown workouts. Some of them are available on demand but I bought them on iTunes for $9.95. Even on iTunes they are broken into separate workouts so there's no need to try to fast forward like you have to with 30 Day Shred from iTunes.

The system is made up of 5 workouts. Each runs 20-24 minutes. Four are circuit training exercises (upper body, lower body - killer!, core, and total body) and use hand weights. The fifth is a yoga workout. ExerciseTV.com also has a printable workout rotation you can use with the workouts. Some days you do one workout, some days you do two. They are short but effective!

I have been doing the Leslie Sansone 1 mile walk on Exercise TV On Demand.

I am trying to use the game to help me form the habit of working out everyday (not my official habit, just a side benefit emoticon )

I've found Jillian Michael's 30-Day Shred DVD to be quite helpful with this goal. I work 3 long days (10 hours) and on 2 of those days, I go for 2 brisk 15 minute walks with coworkers, so that's my exercise on those days. I take one of my work days off from this...and the 4 days I'm home, I do the Jillian Michaels DVD, which really has made a difference in my body. I love that I'm seeing great changes for only exercising 27 minutes (yeah, it's longer than advertized) per day!
