Lost this thread again. Kay, I'm with you. We went from winter to summer. The heat hit way too fast and it's very draining. Makes me wonder what our summer will really be like. I will admit that today was great. We finally got a little of the rain but nothing like some places got. At least my plants and the grass got watered.

Good Morning. At 21 inches and weighing in at 8 pounds 11 oz, Alejandro (Alex) joined our family at 8:20 last night. There was a big debate over what color Alex would be. All 3 boys have a Mexican father. 1 is my white with green eyes and light brown hair, 1 looks like he has a good tan with very dark brown hair and black eyes. Well Alex was born green, turned an almost sickly white, then bright red. DD sent me a picture this morning and he now looks like a baby. Both mother and baby are fine.

Hey Kay I say whinge away, nothing like a little venting to make you feel better.

I used to always grizzle about the Summer here but I really have come to hate the Winter. I just don't do well these days in the cold. It takes me all my time to get going and when I've got going it's time to sit down and stop emoticon

I'm just looking forward to some warm days so I can go outside in the garden, I'm sick of looking at the inside of the house and hospitals..

Mary Alice, I hope you get to welcome Aejandro into the world soon!! Sounds exciting!!

Jules, I know I sound like a broken record complaining about the heat; I'm really working on it, but when you have record breaking heat starting early spring, and it just keeps going and going, and you don't have rain either, it gets a little wearing. It's like being a prisoner in your home some days, it's so hot, if you go out, you get sick from the heat & humidity. And to think Weds. was the 1st day of summer, it seems like it's been here forever!! emoticon Enough of that!

I did love your new team pic, that's so sweet! I was just looking at the pics of the dogs that our fellow team member posted of her dad's dogs trying to find a home wishing I could take them all!! I would if I could afford to feed them. They're all good sized. Pretty dogs!!

If you don't run your own life, someone else will.

Good morning. I was going to go to work at 10:30, get off at 2:30, go down to DD's and check on the boys, the 14 year old would have had the 2 year old sine 6, go to the hospital to welcome Aejandro into the world, and get dinner for the boys. Well DD called and said that the hospital was full and that since they weren't inducing because of a life or death reason, they are putting it off. DD said she should know more by 8. Who knows what I'm doing today. Aejandro isn't due for a week, but the DR says he is over 8 pounds and babies can gain up to a pound the last week so feels it would be better for both baby and mom to bring him into the world a week early.

Sorry everyone is feeling lousy with the weather. I'd gladly give you my rain and cold to have a few hot days.

Hope everyone checks out the new team photo. I know I change them often but I really love this one. Let me know what you think.

Good morning. My weight hasn't moved in months. I'm sure it is my schedule or lack there of. After months of working at it, I have gotten my body to sleeping till 6 or 7. Great, but last night I worked till midnight. Lack of sleep isn't a good thing.

What a weekend!! Hotter than blazes, and we had an outing with the church group to a nearby historic type village. It was fun, but I got about half sick from the heat. Then yesterday we were busy all day too, so I haven't been on to post much.

We're all in the no open burn stage here, it's so dry, A few spotty showers went through over the weekend, but we didn't get a drop. You can now fall into the cracks. I'd say if we don't get rain really soon the crops will be ruined in this area. Sad. People tossing out their cigarette butts from cars have started grass fires along the Interstate.

Jules, you still didn't get your washing machine!!! emoticon I would be wringing their necks instead of the wash. Don't you just feel like packing up & leaving, I do sometimes, especially when bunches of things start going wrong.

Mary Anne, did you give up on your idea of down sizing, and moving?

Good morning. 1 load of wash on the line and walk done. Yesterday we had a met and greet with the minister candidate after church. I had the 23 month old with me. I had him at the table with 2 different cakes, watermelon slices and a fruit bowl. I asked Tony what he wanted, and 2 little hands grabbed blackberries. Ok little hands in the fruit bowl isn't a good idea, but the little boy wanted berries not cake. I gave him blackberries and watermelon. A woman at out table felt sorry for him and gave him a mouthful of cake, which he ate and asked for cantaloupe.

Good morning. I did good with the donuts yesterday. Just 1/2 of 1. I have to run, I worked 2 to 10 last night and am working 10-7 today.

When things get bad, DH and I go camping. Somewhere in the woods, just the 2 of us. Out where there is no cell phones or internet coverage. DD and her husband go to a motel. Just one on the beach about 25 miles away.

I ended up washing most of the stuff by hand, thank heavens I never let the washing bank up and get too dirty. I'm now suffering from 'wringers hands'!!!

I tell you after all this crap with the washing machine, Ray's operation and all of Steven's stuff gets better (will it ever??) I'm going away for a couple of days, don't care where just as long as I don't have to do anything.

Ah - Over HERE is where the action is...

Geez Jules - what a time you're having! I read the posts backwards & was wondering at first why you were so impatient about a washing machine delivery. Sorrryyyy - now I get it. Bless your heart. All you're going through would drive me crazy!

MaryA - sorry you have to put up with the insanity at Walmart full time. Going there once in awhile to shop is enough for me. I feel a bit sorry for the checkers when they say "Have a nice evening," and I say, "You too......" - Uh yeah - Right. I almost feel guilty me getting to leave & them not.

Good Morning. I'm going to quote one of my Asst. Manager. "Wal-Mart is killing me" Actually my cold has a lot to do with it, but I think 2 days off in a row would help me get better. Yesterday I didn't eat much of anything. Thats fine, but history says today I'm want to eat everything I see and today is donut Friday at work. That means there will be 3 or 4 dozen donuts in the brake room every time I go in and I need to go to the brake room 4 or 5 times today.

Well it's 3.00 in the afternoon and my washing machine has still not arrived. I think a rude phone call is in order, I mean I was hoping to have clothes washed this weekend!!

They will have to fit into my schedule next week, if not, they can just give me a refund and I'll pick one up somewhere. Unreliable bums!!!!!

The idiot??? that pediatrician must have been talking about himself. (or herself). Everyone knows it's much healthier if you can, and a lot less expensive too. But you're right it's the insurance that tells us how long we get to stay in a hospital over here!

Jules, you're just having all the fun out there, washing machine deliveries & TV upgrades, all while running a hospital. emoticon I dislike waiting for deliveries & such; they're never on schedule or they call at the last minute & cancel. You're waiting around & don't want to start anything until they get in & out, and then they don't show. Aaargh!

When I had my first, the hospital pediatrician came in the day after the baby was born and asked if I was the idiot that thought she was going to breast feed. With my second, just 22 months later, you had to have a prescription to buy formula.

I wonder why they assume that a mother (new or otherwise) knows instinctively how to breastfeed?? Why don't they realize that it really needs to be taught to many of the new mothers. Some of the nurses and the mothers themselves can be "breastfeeding nazis" when it comes to whether you do it or not. I've always figured that if you can, do it, if you can't (and there are many who can't) use the bottle.

I had a reasonably quiet day here today, Ray spent the day sleeping and eating. I was expecting my washing machine to be delivereed today, not to be though. They assure me it will get here tomorrow, it better be as next week I've got hospitals on most of the days so I won't be home. I'm getting my pay TV updated to IQ (fancy name for new) tomorrow so between that and trying to fit the washing machine will make for an interesting day.

My Dr. blames the HMO's. He says they have decided when someone should leave a hospital. He says they are trying to make more surgeries out patent. Operations where the patient would have drainage tubes. When DD had her first, they said that they would only pay for a new baby to stay 24 hours, unless the baby had a life threatening problem, so they sent her first home before he could nurse. Not being able to suckle isn't life threatening. Good thing she had a mom waiting to help her.

Wow, what a week you've had, Jules, if it's not one thing, it's ten! Hope your brother doesn't get worse so he can wait & see the surgeon. I don't blame you for being upset; sounds like they certainly didn't do any post surgery follow up. And then to have car troubles on top of that, you get the Wonder Woman prize!!! Take care!

They are cuties indeed Mary Alice.

He's seen the local doctor Kay and while it's serious it apparently can wait 'till next week. I'm really mad at the hospital, they let him go just a day after the operation and never told me about any instructions, etc when he got home. It should have been made clear that he needed sturdy underwear etc, they never even acknowledged me when I picked him up, I never even knew he had a prescripton for some oxycodone until I got home. I'll have some words to say to the surgeon when we see her next week. I've told him to keep an eye on it and if it gets really painful or gets bigger etc I'll call an ambulance and get him back into the hospital that way.

I've just managed to get a new battery for Ray's car today, had to start it with the jumper leads to get it down to the battery place, now I've got to find time to get a service for my car which has been used a lot while Rays was out of service. I think I've aged ten years in the past week and I'm so tired!!

Cute picture, Mary Alice!! That's the way my family is too , all boys (5) for my dad to be grandpa to, and 1 granddaughter.

Good grief, Jules, you aren't kiddin' !! Is this a serious problem for Ray, or is it one of those wait & see what happens kind of things? Hang in there, and take care of yourself, as best you can!!!

Good morning. My picture is Rebeka (11) and her half sister Rianah (3). Beka lives with her mother out here in TX and Rianah lives in San Diego with her mother and father, so the girls don't see each other very often. My 5th grandson is due next week. These are the only grand daughters.

Took Ray to the doctor today, now he's got a haematoma in his testicles and at the operation site!!! Will have to take him back to see the surgeon next week, as well as take Steve in for his holter monitor and his visit to the doctors. As they say it never rains but it pours, I tell you it's pouring so much at my place at the moment I'm starting to get flooded out.

Sounds like that's just what you needed to do, rest, Jules; the last thing you need is to be sick in that busy household of yours.

Glad you're feeling better, Mary Alice!

Of course, we only got a sprinkle of rain, which is how I figured it would go, oh well, that's nothing we can control!

Good morning, Yesterday went good at work. I'm still coughing, but not the fits I had been having. Thanks for the well wishes. Now I have to get back to eating and exercising. The last week I have been eating what southed my throat and exercise, well forget it.

As far as I know we don't have lightening bugs over here.

Didn't get in any Sparking yesterday at all. Came home after the shopping yesterday and felt terrible, went to bed really early, can't honestly say I feel much better today, I think I'm just tired on top of tired and to make matters worse I've got a full week coming up.

Glad you're feeling better, Mary Alice! Lightening bugs usually only start around the end of June, early July around here, but it gets earlier & earlier each year.

Supposed to get rain here tomorrow, I'm praying we do!!

Kind hearts are the gardens
Kind thoughts are the roots
Kind words are the flowers
Kind deeds are the fruits

Take care of the gardens
And keep them from weeds
Fill fill them with flowers
Kind words and kind deeds.

Good Morning, Yesterday DH went to the store. He knows I can't take many meds, so he got me all different kinds natural meds. One of the teas helps a lot. Yesterday I felt like I could go to work, but since the 2 days before I had hit a wall about 6 hours in, so I called. Today I woke up feeling better and it is a short day.

Growing up we had lighten bugs from spring though summer and into fall. They use to be everywhere. Now many children have never seen one. When Beka lived with me, we went on a hunt to find fireflies. We found one.

Go ahead & scream Jules, it may make you feel better!!

Have to eat my words on lightening bugs, dh said he saw some last night. Used to be you didn't see them until around the 4th of July here. It was hotter than blazes today, we got our project done & no one fell in a crack & disappeared.

Smile, because the fact that you're able to is almost impossible to comprehend.
Jeffrey Rowland,

Out here they are trying to figure out why we don't have many fireflies. Several of us have said we thought it was all the spraying for mosquitoes, the city says maybe, but mosquitoes bite and carry diseases.

"Give him a bell"????? Good heavens NOOOOOOOO!!! I'd end up smacking him upside the head with it.

It's just that the last couple of weeks seems to be full of apointments for hospitals, doctors, vets etc etc etc. Between Ray and Steven whinging about not feeling well (I know they are sick but I can't help it) Maggs who's taken up her bout of whinging to a new level, I'm at the point of blowing up!!! I won't of course but sometimes I feel like going outside and screaming at the top of my lungs.

emoticon Good one, Mary Anne about the bell!!! My mom used to have one of those, trouble was just the opposite, she never rang it. She'd get up & do everything herself. And that's the difference between most men & women. It is frustrating to have to be everybody's everything, I felt that way at times too, between parents & kid, and siblings.

Mary Alice, take care of your cold & yourself. I do hate a cold in hot weather, somehow it seems more miserable.

The fireflies or lightening bugs as we call them, aren't out here yet either, but I expect to see them soon, because they were early last year when it was so hot; I think it messes up their calendar. Some of my family's coming tomorrow to help us with a drainage project we've been needing to take care of; of course, the temps are supposed to be in low 90's. But my main worry is that no one falls in one of the cracks in my yard & breaks a leg. Yes, it's really about that bad, I ought to take a pic!

MaryAlice, I haven't seen the fireflies yet. I always look forward to sitting outside at night and watching the yard light up!!! So sorry to hear you are feeling so crappy but glad your boss sent you home. Hope tonight isn't too bad for you. At least you had a day to try and take it easy.

Jules, I can remember a very frustrating day at work where everyone seemed to be calling my name and I said the same thing only I wouldn't tell what I had changed it to! Sorry, but I do believe that men make the worse sick people. I feel sorry for Ray but I'm sure he's getting on your nerves. Maybe go sit someplace with your music and a good book and just pretend you can't hear him. Whatever you do, don't give him a bell to ring....lol

The fireflies, twinkling among leaves, make the stars wonder
Rabindranath Tagore

Good Morning, Tuesday I felt like I was coming down with a cold. I started to call in, but need for money got to me so I went in. Wal-Mart has a policy about cashier having anything in their mouth. I asked about cough drops. I was told to get on a register and not to worry about it. I started at 3:30 about 10 I was really feeling it. I asked for a break. The manager told me to turn my light off and go when I finished my line. I must have looked bad. My customer n nodded toward me, the manager turned and looked at me and said "I'll finish your line, get out of here NOW."

Yesterday I was off. I took it easy. I told DH I wanted to go to the noodle house for dinner. I thought the green tea and soup would help. I drank tea and the liquid out of the soup. I brought the food stuff out of the soup home thinking after having a liquid dinner I would be starved in an hour, nope my take home is still in the fridge. I'm taking it easy today. I have another long night. I get off at midnight.

I think I'm just getting old, I really don't like the cold at all.

Ray's "dying" at the moment, I mean I know he's sore but really asking me to make him a piece of toast with some tomato on it?????? I'm surprised he didn't want me to eat it as well. Don't mind me, I'm just tired and I'm seriously thinking of changing my name so people will stop calling for me!!! I think I need a couple of days away by myself ..... ha! not likely

Jules, I had to stop and think about you mentioning the cold.....you're going into winter. Hope the guys are feeling better but glad you can maybe get a little rest while their sleeping. I don't like the real high heat but I think I dislike the bitter cold more. Maybe it's a toss up.

Kay, I hate to have any AC blowing right on me. When I worked, they kept the building so cold that by the time I left, I would just sit in my hot car to try and get the chill out of my bones. You sis could be right about you dad but sometimes, I swear, as we age we do and say really goofy things.

Have a great Friday everyone. I will be cleaning and packing!

I don't like that kind of cold, usually a cold rain will do that to me! Hope all your patients get to feeling better Jules! Anymore, car air-conditioning blowing directly on my legs can make my bones ache so I don't know what I'm talking about. emoticon

Had to take my dad to Rheumatologist (sp) today, always a treat. You just never know what my dad's going to say these days, he's almost 87. His mind is still good, but he just thinks he can ask any dr. to take care of other problems that have nothing to do with their specialty. My sis thinks he's just cheap & wants to get everything done in one stop; she's probably right.
