Just study your nutritional report every day to see where you can make better choices and still be satisfied. This is, after all, a learning process for the rest of your (slim) life.

I have officially completed my first month on sparkpeople. I am down 15 lbs and I have lost inches all over. I am grateful for this community of encouragement. I know I will reach my goal with the support of the people here. I walked 6 miles today. Something I have not done in years.

It is disappointing not to lose when you think you are doing everything you can to lose.
Are you studying your nutritional report every day to make sure you are getting your ratios right and not overdoing on sodium?
Are you 'exercising' minutes really burning off calories or do you think they are?

In times like these, and we all have them from time to time, you really need to step back and regroup. Don't fret and don't say to heck with it and jam something in your mouth.

You can all do this, I promise.

I didn't lose and I didn't gain. I am totally bummed. I have been tracking my food, drinking more water and got a 1 hr workout everynight this week (day changes made). Plus added 2 - 2 mile walks pushing 100lbs in double stroller up and down neighborhood hills and nothing....feeling dissapointed. emoticon

Don't weigh except at the same time of day. Once you eat or drink or go potty your weight changes.

I'm down 2.5 pounds this week. I'm very happy with that! I have been eating right but I just can't seem to force myself to get moving this week. But it's nice and sunny today so maybe I'll just go for a walk!

I lost 2 pounds this week and I'm not sure how I did it because I didn't work out at all and I wasn't that great at sticking to my calories either. I'm just considering myself lucky that I didn't gain 2 pounds and I'm going to get back on track next week because I noticed that I didn't feel that great without the workouts and healthy eating. So even though it didn't show on the scale I could still feel the damage I was causing and I don't want to do that anymore.

Good attitude and great that you can reflect on and learn from the past. Just don't repeat it!!
Also, don't go overboard with short term goals. You can wind up frustrated and backslide.
Make short term goals that you know you can make and then build on that as time progresses.
Good luck.

I gained...but I'm not fretting about it. I know what I've lacked this past week and I know what I need to do today and next week.

Last week: I did not exercise, I did not eat very healthy, I did not laugh as much as I normally do - I was sick and lacking energy.

Today: I will exercise and prep healthy foods/snacks for the coming week

Next week: Back to JDFT (Jo Dumont Fitness Training) on Monday and Wednesday; Bodyrock today, tomorrow, Thursday; plan my food; track everything...Journal!!!! LAUGH!

It's all good! This is a life changing process and doesn't happen overnight! : )

I am in the weigh every day camp.
Weight varies by day.
If you weigh every morning before you eat and without clothes you will get more accurate weights.
Record the reduced pounds and rejoice. Only record the ups if they last more than two days.
My thought process is that it is easier to catch a problem faster if you weigh more often. If you wait for a week to go by, have a bad food or exercise day, then you are likely to say, what the heck, I won't have a good weigh in this week so I'm just gonna skip this week and keep eating.
That will get you exactly where you have always been - no where.
Good luck.

I'm down 1/2 a pound. 180.4

It could just be fluctuation because I've been hovering here for awhile, but joining up here at SP has definitely upped my motivation to break into the 170's. Maybe even next week?

Hey... I was a previous user of Sparkpeople and had good success... then life happened, had a few children, etc... and now I am ready to start again. I have a small goal currently of getting to 190 with plans of achieving that by the end of summer. I honestly will be really happy when I get to "Onederland" since I haven't been in over a year...

Remember not to get too ambitious about the amounts of weight you will lose each day or week or month. Make long term goals and short term goals and be flexible so you can adjust to whatever life sends your way.

Set up your Spark program and start tracking your food - BEFORE - you eat it. Plan ahead, batch cook ahead. Have healthy snacks ready to go.

Get your family involved and don't let anyone try to challenge your plans. Eat whatever your family eats, just less of it and pile on more fresh/frozen veggies with less meat.

Sorry to go on but I have found all these to be success points for me.
