God is closer to us than water is to a fish.
- St. Catherine of Sienna
Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labour in vain.
- Psalm 127:1
Great poem and so true.
I wish I was a glow worm,
A glow worm's never glum,
How can you be grumpy,
When the sun shines out your bum!
You don't stop laughing. because you grow old, you grow old. because you stop laughing!
Thanks for the post!
I saw a blog entry this morning with this poem titled The Girl in the Glass and Anonymous for the author. I liked it and wanted to post it, but thought I would Google it and make sure the poem was correct and all. Found it is actually called The Woman in the Glass and the author's name. I thought this was a good read and something to think about on this Monday made for motivation. Enjoy!
The Woman in the Glass
When you get what you want in your struggle for self
and the world makes you queen for a day
just go to the mirror and look at yourself
and see what that woman has to say.
For it isn't your father or mother or child
whose judgment upon you must pass....
the person whose verdict counts most in your life
is the one staring back from the glass.
Some people may think you're a straight shooting chum
and call you a wonderful girl,
but the woman in the glass says you're only a bum
if you can't look her straight in the eyes.
She's the person to please, never mind all the rest,
for she is with you clear up to the end..
and you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test
if the woman in the glass is your friend.
You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
and get pats on the back as you pass,
but your final reward will be heartaches and tears
If you cheated the woman in the glass.
