What a great game!
We have one called "In a Pickle" in which you have 5 noun cards. Each noun is a different 'size', ranging from 'atom' to 'universe' and everything in between (Statue of Liberty, New York, baseball stadium, desk, etc.). The table is set up with four noun cards arranged at north, south, east, west. A play consists of playing one of your noun cards with the set up ones. If it is smaller you place it below the one there, if it is bigger, you place it over it, but they always have to match and somehow go 'in' the other card. So, Statue of Liberty can go 'in' New York or Universe, but not in 'atom'. Of course, we get creative and put 'Africa' in 'atlas' or 'scandal' in 'office'! It's a hoot!

I just realized we are still chatting in 'June'. Heehee.

Their are 2 types of cards - Green (adjectives) category cards and Red "item" (nouns) cards. Each player gets and keeps 7 red cards at all times. One player is the judge and it rotates each play. The judge turns over a green card - example: happy. Each player puts down a card that they think the judge will feel matches the green card (this example - happy) You can also go for the "obviously not" factor - say: Eyore. The judge decides which card matches best. That player wins the green card. If you want, you ca try to defend your choice to the judge. Also you want to match your choice to the person judging. The player with the most green cards at the end wins, the number depends on the total playing the game.

I will be buying 2 of these - one for home and one for my classroom.

I'm sure you will continue to listen to their thoughts and needs, at the same time, maintain order at night time! You guys are experienced parents, you are just adjusting to having three!

And with the weight loss for the new year - you can do it! Let's get moving!

We had a long talk with them about waking everyone up and it has helped. I think the kids are a little jealous of her but it's getting better there too. We try to talk to them about it quite a bit so they can get their say in so that has helped them as well too. Sam I remember when I was a kid climbing in bed with my mom and dad when it stormed. Kids never change that's for sure. Well CJ let's get with it and we can get back to losing once again. I would like to be back under 200 before my school starts back so I have to get busy.

Mine used to get up every night after bad dreams and crawl in bed with us. A friend told me to stow a sleeping bag under the bed and pull it out. He got the comfort of someone close, but I didn't get sandwiched between him and my hubby. We just have to fgure out what works for them and us!

I wonder if they are trying to connect with you at night as things are so hectic during the day? Kids, sometimes, eh? Can be silly! I remember the nights with 3 little ones, though. I get anxious just thinking back to those days!

Good for you to start over and get on track again! I'll join you!

I am resetting my goals today and starting back to losing my unwanted weight once again. I have lost 16 pounds since having Sarah and ready to keep on going. I will start out slowly due to varicose veins but I think all looks well and feeling very good except for a little sleep deprivation due to all 3 kids. Sarah I can see but the other two have to wake me up just to tell me their going to the bathroom at night or getting a drink which is very frustrating but I manange. I hope think line out soon with them.

Cherly - glad she is giving you a chance to rest a bit! We didn't travel much without the kids when they were young either, and definitely didn't go anywhere without them. When my younger dd was 8, I went to England for 3 weeks without her, but my dh stayed home and looked after the kids, and my parents and in laws helped.

Sam - I loved the Star Trek movie, and can't wait to see it again to get all the dialogue and stuff I missed the first time. I was very pleasantly surprised. When I heard that it was about the original series, I was thinking it wouldn't be up my alley. When I realized it was about the early years of the original characters, I was enthralled!

I am so happy for you and your family.

We didn't do many family vacations when our son was young. Since our extended family lives out of town most of our vacation time was spent in St Louis. We wanted Joe to know his grandparents and uncle & aunts. Getting there and back when he was very young as a pain, but it got better when he was older and you could entertain him a bit with books or tapes - before the days of portable DVDs and videogames.

The trip sounded great Sam and it's always great to spend time as a family I think like that. It's harder for us to do things away from home here because my two always start missing the family or it's mom can we go home now. Usually you do good just to get a day away and that's it. Well I got to sleep in a little this morning becsuse hubby took care of Sarah for me. She is doing real well with her sleeping and usually will pull 6 hours through the night so no complaining here. My other kids are adjusting well too with taking care of her. I also am happy to say I am down by 14 pounds since having my daughter so I am tickled pink about that. I can fit back into my old clothes once again. I hope you all have a good Friday and weekend as well.

Did you like the Star Trek movie? We saw it several weeks ago. We enjoyed it, and we're pretty avid Trekkies. We don;t do the conventions or anything - but we know the series and movies well.

That sounds wonderful, Sam. Glad you enjoyed yourself! My parents have said before that being nearer the equator and the early sunsetting times was strange for them. For years, they lived up north (north of 55th parallel) and were used to reading on the deck in the summer at about 11:30 pm with natural light!

Cherly - glad everything is fine with you.

I am so glad that everything went well for you and your new daughter.

Husband, son, and I are back from Puerto Rico. We had a good time. I think our son may have liked other yonger companions at times, but did like that we paid for everything. emoticon Overall, I think everyone had a good time. He and his dad did a short stint at kayaking near the beach. We also visited the Bacardi distillery - my husband works for a distiller, so.... We went to a BioBay, which was the highlight of the trip. When you get in the water and move your body you activate these glowing organisms in the water. It looks like there is light all around you - a light bluish/green. Awesome! Yes, we did take time to relax on the beach or at the pool. It was odd that it got dark at 7pm every night. So the pool came in handy for those times or when we had enough sun for the day. Anyway, I know it is something that we will never forget.

Hope everyone else is doing something fun this summer.

Have a great time!

Shopping for me this weekend with my friend whose dd is graduating. She needs a new dress for the occasion.

I'm taking Dad to the Star Trek movie for Father's Day, and dh wants to take the boat out again this weekend.

Cherly - how are things? All went well I hope, on Thursday!

When I was working with a trainer, she was very adament about not overdoing. If you want to strength train everyday, switch off muscle groups. Do lower body one day and upper body the next.

I hope all our soon to be moms are doing well. I'm thinking of you.

Off on vacation EARLY tomorrow morning for me.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

I agree, Jenn, your body needs rest days to recuperate, and so it can build muscle to become stronger.

C25k is Couch to 5k. It is a program for someone who is not used to running or never ran before and designed by the end of the program to be able to run a full 5k.

Sam I hear you about tracking. Tracking my food is difficult. I am so glad that I can not track easily on my phone, that makes it easier because I don't want to be behind the computer all day I want to get out and play with my children.

I hope everyone is having a great day. Mine is busy, My 4 year old is in summer preschool, so I have to take him there and then he has swimming lessons tonight. I am excited this is his first lesson with out me in the water with him.

I took off today from going to the gym, I think I over did it yesterday and I can't walk now. I may hit Curves this evening if I can move. If not tomorrow back at the gym in the morning.

Cherly - not much longer now! All the best to you and your new babe if I don't log on before you have your new little daughter! I will pray that her journey into the world goes well and with no complications.

Jenn - good luck with your new running program. What is a C25K? It's the 'C that is throwing me off there.

Sam - good luck with all your organizing! We have to do that this summer as well. I'm not really looking forward to it.

Good Evening Everyone. I wanted to stop by and say hello. Today is my Monday, and I would say that it has gone great. I have worked out a lot today and I am tired. I am looking forward to a nice relaxing shower and then off to bed.

I have decided to start a C25K running program, and Today is the first day. I think I did good. I will let you know my progress as I continue working on it.

I look forward to get to know everyone and get more into this group.

Cherly - Well, at least you have a date, and it's not that far away! Only 5 more days. I will be thinking and praying for you both.

Yes, it was fun to spend time with Joe's friends. One of the few times I was more quiet. HaHa

Now we're trying to find a spot for the stuff that he needs to have at the house. Of course this winter we started to take over his old bedroom - so now there's not as much room for his stuff in there.

Plus I brought home my files and teacher's manuals for the summer... My house is a disaster. It looks like the before pictures on some of those organizing TV shows. sigh At least I am off school and have time to work on it.

I am looking forward to this evening. We are attending a "swim" reunion. The swim coaches have been with the program for 25 years. Students and parents, who were involved in the swim program are invited. My husband and I were very active in the program as officials the entire time Joe swam (age 5 to 18). We spent a lot of weekends at swim meets with these families, so it should be a great time.

Hope everyone else has a great weekend.

Love, Sam

Glad you make it home ok Sam and hope your unpacking is going well. I have hit the miserable stage in my ptegnancy that's for sure with back pain out of this world last night. Not for sure if its associated with contractions or not but I head to the doctor today so she can check to see what's going on. I so hope she let's me go to the hospital but not getting my hopes up quite yet. Christine hang in there and sure it won't be long now and we can restart all and reach goals once again. Well, we are back home in Indiana. Today is unloading day. It was good to sleep in my own bed with my hubby again.

We had a nice mixture of packing and visiting while in Texas. We had lunch and dinner dates everyday. I got to meet my son's closest friends in Texas, plus a very special man who Joe worked with the past 2 years. He helped mentor Joe at work. It meant so much to me when he said Joe was a special young man. He is an ex-Marine who has worked with many young men. He took Joe under his wing and gave him good advice when it was needed.

Today is unloading day - deciding what can fit in his "old" bedroom and what can't. What fun!

I need you to move to Brookland and teach my son Sam. This year the teacher did not ever change for the class but since he is out man he has went back to normal and is his happy go lucky self once again. I am enjoying that for sure. I hope you have a safe trip packing and get home safe as well. I am hoping to be induced on the 18th if little one doesn't come before then and so ready for my daughter to come and get settled in with the kids. I miss the walk times we were doing before and ready to get started back. Take care all and have a good month.

What a wonderful affirmation of what you do, Sam! Congrats. Those sorts of moments can be few and far between sometimes. So glad you shared with us.

Have a safe and successful trip!

Well, school is out for ma and my students.

Here is a copy of an email that I got from one of my students yesterday....

after school today i went to logans ice cream then all the sudden i started crying because i knew you weren't going to teach me anymore and i was so sad and mad at the same time. i'll miss you very much.

It is why I teach...

Joe (son) and I are headed to Texas tomorrow to pack him up and move his stuff home.

Hope everyone else is healthy and happy.
Love, Sam
