Glad you had a safe trip home Sam and if you get stressed anymore please come to my house and clean. I need all the help I can get!!
So sorry on the job cuts Christine and I just pray Greg job gets back to normal. They are working 10 days straight then off 11 and draw unemployment for that time. We have to pay for our insurance during that time and believe me unemployment does not make what we are used to. I pray it gets back to normal soon. It's good to see you and hang in there. Have a good night and pray I can sleep as well. Both kids spent the night with my mom so I don't know what to do without them here.

Luvmyhoney, I am so sorry to hear about the cuts made at work. it is so hard to see good friends without a job.

We made it home without any incident. I miss my son, but it is so nice to be home.

One god thing - I was really stressed about leaving this morning. Instead of evening, I spent my time cleaning Joe's apartment. I accomplished two things - no extra calories and his apartment looks better than when we got there. LOL

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hello guys!! This is a very stressful week for us. Our company laid off 12% of the employees. It was very emotional and stressful. I lost about 5 very close friends at work. The worst side effect is that I eat when stressed and sad. I am sure this week was also horrible diet wise. I have gained weight and hope I can bring my discipline back next week. Our entire family had the flu as well.

I hope that everybody is doing great...please be patient with me.

You know that's funny I also buy my kids a new ornament each year as well for the Christmas tree and now they even decorate it themselves. I too enjoy those family traditions and this year after having Sarah we can start more of them because of having a third child. I have always wanted a Christmas eve with just hubby and kids and this year I plan on doing just that.

Enjoy your breakfast out. It is so cool to have traditions.

You know that you have made the when your kids start following them or asking for them. My son has turned out to be fairly sentimental about some things - his special Christmas ornament shat he gets each year from his Grandma, July 4th with his uncles, etc...

We leave tomorrow afternoon. I know I will be sad, but I look forward to being home too.

Good morning to all and doing better now. The kids are feeling better and ready for school to start back. I take Christopher next Tuesday to Memphis to see a Gastro doctor for his stomach and hope he can help him out with the chronic stomach ache. We have battled this since he was 4 and for the past 5 years not much has changed so maybe we can get some answers. Today we are supposed to have a pretty day but tonight another round of storms is supposed to come through so who knows what tomorrow will bring. I want to take the kids out for breakfast on their last day so I hope we can at least get that in. Something I usually do every spring break. I hope you have a good trip back Sam and not for sure when your leaving but keep us updated and hope all goes well.

That is frustrating..... I had a close friend who had 3 boys, so it was easier for me. Our families were all out of town...

Yes I have but finding a place to leave our kids that has a good influence is just not possible. My family and his are just not the best place to leave them at all. Very frustrating for sure.

Cherly,
I know until after the baby it will be hard for you to do this, but have you ever considered a Marriage Encounter weekend? Tim and I went to one when Joe was very small. It gave us a chance to talk.

It's really hard Sam and I just don't know how to rebuild trust again. We now have three kids to think about so we have to make it work but I just don't know about the trust issue anymore. All I can do is mostly cry.

Hey all and not having a very good day. My day was already a down in the dumps day then I found out my husband had been lying to me for the past 3 months about smoking again. I thought he quit back in Sept of last year then today I found a receipt where he has bought a pack of cigs and come to find out he has been lying to my since back before christmas and been buying cigs all along. Right now I don't really now how to feel except betrayed. I hate lying and it's something I despise. I have a hard time wanting to forgive and don't know what to do.

I am now on Spring Break and in Texas. Tim and I are visiting our son. So far, it's been nice here. I am hoping to get out walking tomorrow morning.

Got in a lot of walking today, but not cardio....

My problem is my kids have battled so much illness that I get so wore out from dealing with them I just set quite a bit after getting them well. This week is spring break for my two so I pray with them and the other two I babysit I can make it through. I do have my hubby off for the first two days so that will help me out for sure. Finally catching up on my sleep from Christopher being sick and thank goodness he is back to mostly normal. Good to see you this morning Christine and just hang in there and it won't be long. My kids have to end up going till May 29th this year due to being out for bad weather. Well off to get ready for church and I hope you all have a good day. How are you doing CJ? I hope your family is staying well. Take care.

Hello Cheryl x 2, Sorry for being AWOL for a long time. I have been so busy and will continue to be busy until my daughter graduates from college May 17.

I have been very bad, I need to get back to the life style. I started but the flu stopped it again. I am back to square 1.

Take care!! Have a wonderful spring!

I had a rough night myself with taking our son to the ER and found out he was dehydrated and had to run some fluids so we were there for 9 hours. Right now I am barely walking after a couple hours of sleep. Have a good day all.

Well, I am feeling much better... So that's one better.

I am really looking forward to next week and "mom" time. I asked Joe if he wanted me to bring any recipes with me. He said no he just wants the old stand-bys, and I don't need recipes for that. That means lasagna, chicken curry, beef rouladen, possibly stroganov. I told him I plan to cook extra, so he can freeze leftovers. I haven't been cooking much lately, so this will be good.

Walked outside this afternoon for the first time in ages! It was wonderful!!!

That's all for tonight.

I have to watch with both of my kids as well about moving into the chest. They have already had the chest stuff so I am trying to keep it from going back. This sinus infection really has put him down as far as tired goes. He really drags around here and lays quite a bit. I hope today he gets to feeling better.

Hope they are better soon. I'm familiar with sinus infections and I know they can be rough. I was sick all last weekend as well. Mine started in my chest and then moved to my head. Just starting to come out of the fog. Take care everyone.

I took both of mine to the doctor and Christopher has a severe sinus infection and will be out of school for the next couple of days to recoup. He feels just awful and just wants to lay so he needs the rest. Mikayla does have another UTI so I will have to get her rechecked in a couple of weeks to make sure it's all gone again. This is her 3rd in 6 months so that makes me nervous. Just need to get them better to finish out school.

Well Christopher is still feeling bad and I went ahead and sent him to school but wondering if I should have sent him to the doctor. Then the school calls and Mikayla is complaining again with pelvic pain and a little blood in urine so afraid she has another UTI. Great both kids all at once.

Hi guys!
My head has been fuzzy lately, too, Sam. And today my chest feels tight like it's fighting something in there.

The weather here is finally warming up. I was getting so sick of the awfully-cold days.

Well, it is a beautiful day here. Pretty warm and with some sun. It has perked up my mood, but y heady is still fuzzy. Trying to get all those late papers entered in my gradebook. 3rd quarter ended Friday, and grades are due tomorrow. Aah the life of a teacher...

I remember as a kid in Arkansas that we would always get some snow but nothing near like up north then we slowly stopped getting anything now one week we get covered up with snow and the next weekend we are in the 70's and we stay constantly sick. I don't know if that is global warming or not but ready for things just to settle down. Can you imagine what the summer will be like. YIKES! I may not want to know.

Mine still use one each day. I usually do a load of all towels during the week to help me keep up with them. Today we are expected to get some more winter weather here today so our driving might be fun. I don't know if the kids will have school or not. I am so ready for spring and my pretty yellow and hot pink flowers are not surviving well with this cold snap. Have a good day all.

Do your children use a new towel each day? We only switch once a week. It's what both of us grew up with.

Trust me I know all about the 18 loads of laundry at my house that's for sure. My daughter thinks she has to change every time she comes home from school. I put a stop to that real quick but it seems my towels are non-ending. I can only imagine how much more it will go up with the baby. You will see me in a cartoon trying to dig out from loads of laundry piled on top of me. LOL

I remember a cartoon ('Baby Blues' I think) that had a picture for "laundry for one person for a week", and it showed either the man or the woman with a single pile of laundry. The next panel was titled "Laundry for a couple for a week" and it showed the two of them with two piles of laundry. The last panel said "laundry for a couple with a baby for a week" and the picture showed about 18 loads of laundry, falling out of the confines of the panel!

I have to admit that the laundry thing is much easier now that there are only 2 of us.

I DO have to head to the grocery store though.

I can call but you don't still get the info you need so I just deal with it. This morning I am up and trying to get clothes cleaned out to go to the good will where I have room for all the kids clothes and trying to get ready for church as well. Busy busy for me and still have laundry to do as well. YIKES!!

cherly - sorry to hear the appointment was disappointing for you. It is upsetting when we are looking for answers, or at least acknowledgement of our fears, or reassurance, and we get nothing! Hang in there. Perhaps the doc felt rushed or something and you will get your questions answered or your concerns addressed next time. Does the doc have a time that you can call in to get questions answered and she can return the call at her convenience?

Shandy - sorry to hear Mom is still in the ICU but glad she is sitting up and laughing some. And thrilled for you (and her!) that she gets good nurses today! Praise be to God!

Sam - glad it went well and the helpers were great. Rest up now!

Just a reminder to my wonderful co-members - my friends and I have a great saying that we remind ourselves of often:

People before things.
Take care of the people in your life (and that includes yourself!) before you worry about the things like housework or what have you. Do the basics to get by (meal prep or washing some clothes or dishes so you have something to eat off and something to wear), and let the rest go when you have to.

Take care all of you!
And a happy Sunday to all!

don't have much time on here again today, gotta run and do some stuff around my poor neglected house before I go to bed. I've been awake since 6 AM, and at the hospital since 8 AM. they're not moving my mom out of ICU yet, she's still got a low blood pressure (the bottom number is around 40) but other than that she's doing pretty well, they have her sitting up a few hours each day and she's in good spirits and laughing which is a good thing. the nurses she has today are wonderful and the one she'll have tonight is also. so we're very happy about that.

Hugs,
Shandy

I remember the shot too. Joe ended up being o-Negative, so I didn't have to get the one after birth.

The conference went well. The energy was really high. The high school helpers were fantastic. There was a variety of presenters. I helped in the "fun with food" room. The presenter is a nurse who like to promote healthy eating. It was just a long day....

I have gained 5lbs and not for sure if it's water weight or IBS problems but she wasn't concerened that bad because I had gained nothing up till now. The baby's heartrate was 148 and I guess I measured fine because she didn't say anything. I talked to her about the problems and my concerns and really didn't get much of an answer to my problems so I will just try my best to watch it and do what I need to do to make sure she is ok and doesn't try to come early on me. Kind of frustrated by the appointment but oh well. My next one is on April 3rd and that's when I have my Rhogam shot as well and not for sure if that's when I start going every two weeks or not. I will be almost 28 weeks by that time and not for sure how they do things anymore. Have a great weekend.

That's great news and pray God continues to watch over you Mom and her speedy recovery. I know all about getting the bad nurses sometimes and have had to be ugly a time or two with some who dealt with my Grandma. Hang in there and let us know if she gets out of ICU.

Thank you all, mom no longer has the tubes in her throat and is talking when we come in to visit. has some nurses that none of my family care for, including her, they are causing her to be upset, but we think that may have been taken care of now. if all goes well she could be out of CVICU tommorrow and into a regular room.

Praying that all get better for everyone. Hope you all have a great weekend. I'll be spending the day with MANY young women. Our counselors organize an "Empowering Young Women" conference at our school. It's for grades 3 to High school. There are presenters from many areas: self-defense, a judge, yoga, cooking/nutrition, etc.... It will be my first year to help out. I'm looking forward to it.

Still praying for your mother, Shandy. And you are doing so very very well with your attitude (giving it all to Jesus, and taking your stress out in walking and keeping moving, and helping your family by keeping your little active nephew occupied). All the best to you. May God continue to bless you always.

You are doing great and you have a terrific attitude. I have recently started doing yoga. I found the 4 count breathing really helps me relax. Breath in for 4 counts, then out for 4 counts, continue for as long as you want. I close my eyes and really concentrate on the breath. It's something I can do anywhere!

I hope everyone enjoys the beginning of their weekend.

I just got home from being at the hospital with my mom. She made it through the surgery without any problems, the only hitch in the whole thing is they had planned to use veins from her right leg, to make new arteries for her heart, but the veins they planned to use weren't strong enough or good enough for some reason so they had to use some from her left leg instead. They say that the next 48 hours will be most critical so she will be in ICU with somebody in her room at all times. They let us in to see her for only a few minutes (like less than 5) It was so hard seeing my mom like that, with all the tubes in her throat and all over her body. and the nurses told us they didn't think she'd hear us if we talked to her, but it was up to us to talk to her or not. But I remember when I was in the hospital hearing my nurses tell my family "she really doesn't even know you're hear and she can't hear you or feel you holding her hands" but I HEARD her say that and I felt my mom and dad both holding my hands. So I was holding her hand and talking to her and telling her I know you can hear me and then telling her I loved her and we're there with her. then she started shaking her head so we'd know that she heard us. by the time my brother and sister left her room she was responding to the nurses, they would ask her to wiggle her toes and fingers and she was doing it. so that's a good sign. the sad part was when my brother went to leave cuz the nurses said he had to, she grasped his hand tighter and shook her head no. she didn't want us to leave her, but we had no choice. My dad's staying at the hospital in the waiting room and the nurses promised to call him if she wakes up. but I feel so bad that we have to leave her alone, I know she doesn't want to be alone. They said they should have the tubes out of her throat in about 6 to 8 hours if all goes well. I'll be going back to the hospital with my sister tommorrow and probably will stay there with my dad all afternoon, we don't want him to be alone there too much. Thank you all for the prayers and for now, please keep them coming, as she's still in critical condition.

as for me, I'm still eating healthy. excercising daily. in fact more than usual. walking all over the hospital. I couldn't sit still for 5 hours today so everytime anyone had to leave the room and go anywhere, get air, cafeteria, anywhere else, I'd go with them, which led to a lot of walking. Plus I kept taking my fussy 1 year old nephew for walks all over the hospital and the hospital grounds. and he's pretty fast for such a little guy so walking with him was a LOT of extra excercise. Usually I let the stress and all the emotions get the best of me, but I haven't been doing that, I've been looking to Jesus for comfort, instead of food. and I've been finding other ways than food to destress, which has led to a LOT of excercise.

Love and Hugs,
Shandy

I am ready for the warmer weather here that's for sure. I go back to the doctor Friday for another checkup and I have several questions I have to ask about. I have been trying to catch sales for buying the baby's clothes and so far doing pretty good. My sister is already building her a warerobe that's for sure. Glad you student is doing better and the kids only have till next Wednesday to pull their grades up. I think Christopher can do it but Mikayla might have a problem. She has had all A's up till this nine weeks so she hasn't done bad but I also know she has not give her all in it neither. I have finally got her back on track and she is totally different from her brother.

My mom worked or went to school while I was growing up. She got her Masters degree while I was in high school. We always joked that we, y brother and I, wanted her to go back to work after vacation. She was NOT the nurturing type, so I guess it just depends on your personality.

I am glad that your son is doing better. I have made a break through with one of my students, so I am feeling much better. Plus another who was failing Math, just turned in many missing papers. I showed him what those zeroes had done to his grade. I think it gave him a real message. I showed him his grade before, then I added in the missing papers, and showed him his grade afterwards - went from a low D to a solid C. It does make a difference - so i am happy for you.

Hope everyone else is doing well. It's supposed to be warm here by the weekend. emoticon

I really enjoy my time and wouldn't have it any different. My mom stayed at home with us and I feel the same with my kids. Well Christopher got his AR goals met yesterday so I was relieved about that. Now I just have to get the grades up alittle so he will be back at all A's. He didn't realize his daily sheets would bring down his grades so bad but he is making it pretty good. We still have alittle snow left on the ground but sure it will all melt off today. Our high's are supposed to hit the upper 50's then by the weekend 70's so sure it will all be gone then. I hope you all have a great day and take care.

I was glad that I stayed home when my son was young. I did go back to school when he was at school all day. I only took week long classes during the summer, so I had most of the summer with him. I didn't start teaching full time until he was in 5th grade. It was terrific to be home.

An interesting side note - at least I thought so. During one of our many drives to his wind ensemble rehearsal, my then high school age son and I were talking about family topics. He made the comment that when he had children whoever made the most money would work and whoever made the least money would stay home with the kids. I thought this interesting, since he wasn't saying that he WOULD be the one to be working. Also I felt he must have thought that my being home with him was valuable to want that for his family.

Now if I could just find a nice girl for him, I might get to enjoy grandchildren some day. LOL

I guess my point was that even teenage boys appreciate that their mom was home when they were little. So it is worth it, if you can swing it.

My home life takes 100% of my time that's for sure. I am constantly having to keep up with something or the kids need something for school or having to help with homework. I enjoy being home but I also think sometimes when I used to work part-time in which I only worked 3 days a week I also liked. My boss was a great lady who would take care if I needed off for my kids and she too was one to put family first and you don't find that in many bosses. She retired and the same time I quit to stay home. You wish all bosses and the same family values that family is to come first but you never find that anymore. I always tell my hubby that jobs are a dime a doxen but you only have your family once. That's what made me become a stay at home mom and feel that's what God wanted me to do. We could always use extra money that's for sure but my hubby and I feel strong about me doing what I do. I enjoy my time and also enjoy babysitting as well.

I stayed home with my kids when they were little for 8 years. It was a time of many conflicting emotions. However, I wish I could stay home now. I have tons of things I can think of to do, but never have time now that I am working 80%. I shouldn't complain, I have more free time than full-timers. Those years at home seemed ideal in retrospect, but at the time they were hard.

I've been staying at home for almost 6 years. It does get boring but I usually find something to occupy myself. I do wish I had friends around that I could go visit though.

I have been doing this now for 3 yrs and yes it does get old some days but when the new one comes my time will be filled that's for sure. Most days I feel like I run and run by the time I try to get things done around here and then go get kids from school and then homework. I am usually wore out by the end of the day.

I worked only mornings when my youngest was in grade one. That was the best of both worlds for me. I could do errands and chores in the afternoon and had the evening to relax and spend time with my family.

full time at home with little ones was fulfilling yet stressful and alternated between overwhelming and tiresome. Full time at work is stressful and overwhelming for me, trying to fit everything in.

How I also dream to be with my kids all the time! But, I get bored at home especially when they are off to school. I left my previous job in late 2006 and got my current one in late 2007. I had 10 months with my kids. It's fun when they're at home and like 2 hours before they come (preparing the dinner). But the whole day (myself, alone) can make me crazy.

I enjoy it also and it's better on me at home. I have to do so much with the kids for school work and keeping up with the other two I babysit is a full time job for me. I look forward to the summer when I have the little one and see how the kids react to her. I know they will be a big help and very protective of her that's for sure. It will be a great summer I am sure.

Good morning everyone! Being at home stresses me out! lol A toddler who gets into and onto everything, an 8 year old who's getting mouthy, a husband who won't give up that piece of junk truck he's got and fuses that blow over every little thing11 But for the most part I'm still happy to be at home while my kids are young. I just look forward to the girls weekend I'm
getting in a couple weeks with my sisters and mom!!!

Good Morning team! Yes Jocelyn work does make you do that so that's why I stay at home now. I just do alittle babysitting on the side so I am not so stressed out. That's what made the blood pressure go up as well. Hang in there!!

I had a beautiful morning today, woke up at 5:30 AM and walked with my kids to school at 7:15. Arrived office at 9:41 and my day was messed up with a meeting... about IT system issues... There are times that we can lose patience at work. Sigh...

I'm having my soda crackers lunch right now.

Christopher has his benchmark test I believe the 2nd or 3rd week in April and Mikayla also has the Sat 10 at the same time. I hate those weeks as well.

I think the kids will have their Spring break as well. Their's should start the week of the 23rd I think. They said they would only have to make up 2 days of all that they missed so that's not to many at least. After our big snowstorm yesterday today it warmed up to almost 40 and melted quite a bit of it so now it's just mud. Have a good week at school Sam.

That's right. Here's to a brand new month of keeping to our programs and seeing results!

Just small changes every day and we'll get there.

Hi Jocelyn! Fancy seeing you here, my Catholic Critters co-leader!

Can you believe it's March already!! It's crazy that February is only missing 2-3 days but it feels so much shorter. It's always the beginning of a month when I think to myself 'now why didn't I try harder, the month went so quick, look where I'd be if I'd just stuck with it'. Well here's to another month already!

Yes it is flying by but I don't worry as much about it as I have in past years due to being pregnant. LOL I am ready for June since I am already feeling like Shamoo the whale. I didn't feel this way with the others till I got closer to the end but doctor said since this was my third I would come quicker this time.

You get no sympathy from me on the birthday front. I turn 52 in about 6 weeks. Actually I feel younger now than I did several years ago when I was heavier.

I have to say seeing "March Chat Board" hit home how fast this year is flying by.

Here's to a great month for all of us.

Well another month has passed and it's now March. For me it's getting closer to my due date and also the end of this month I have a big birthday. I wish you all the best in reaching those goals and remember it's all about a lifestyle change.
