That's a nice idea, Babie_Jane.

And those sound great, Sam. The having one that the little kids can touch is a wonderful way for them to be involved without getting scolding for breaking things or whatever. If there's one they can touch, everyone's happy!

I have a few nativities too. One is the one my husband's family put up each year. Not fancy, but sentimental. I also have one that my mom crocheted for my son. Each figure stands about 8-10 inches tall. She wanted one that he could touch. Plus I have a Bethlehem village that includes a stable.

Since I don't crochet as well as my mom. I bought one made by Playmobile for my future grandchildren to keep at my house.

Thanks! Perfect!

btw - is your snowman set the one when you scroll down from the penguin one? It's kind of cute.

It's the moose one that cracks me up, though.

BABIE_JANE - I bet the snowmen look wonderful! I love penguins, but I don't quite have that many.
Currently, I collect nativity scenes. right now I probably have about 20 - large, small, quilted, wooden, miniature, cloth, ornaments, plastic, glow-in-the-dark (not as tacky as it sounds), made from clay and glass, and shells. the problem is finding enough room to display them all!

Cherly that's great news about your insurance! what a perfect new year's gift to you and your family!

Enjoy the visit with your son, Sam! That sounds marvelous!

God bless all of you this year. All the best to you all in 2009!

And don't forget - new year challenge starts today! Get in those cardio minutes! I'll be keeping tabs on your guys!

My sister like to collect the International Santas that Dillard's carries and she usually get 1 or 2 each year. She displays them all around her house at Christmas like you do your snowmen Jane. Also when you watch Mama Mia tell me what you think about it. I am really thinking about buying it for myself. I got some good news today when calling the OB about my insurance again. They figured my payments wrong so they went from being 477 a month to 117 a month till May. That was a true blessing I needed because it was very hard coming up with the higher amount. I hope to double the 117 and get it paid off quicker if I can. I got my Christmas tree down but still like a few of the lights outside but getting back to normal.

I like to put up my snowmen when the Christmas tree comes down. I only put up one tree this year - my bird tree. I have all different kinds of bird ornaments. It's really pretty. Didn't have time to put up the other one, since we go out of town for Christmas anyway. I know I got more than 4 new birds this year... You did better than I did, Babie Jane.

I have snowmen of all kinds, stuffed, snowglobes, ornaments, statues, dishes, bathroom items...need I say more. I probably have between 200 and 300. During the winter months my kitchen and guest bath are decorated with snowmen. During Christmas, I have one 6 foot tree in the living room that is decorated with nothing but snowmen. After Christmas they go into the family room until mid or the end of February. I did really good this year, I don't think I bought but 4 new snowmen.

We never got around to watching Mama Mia last night. DH fell asleep watching football or something. I'm sure we will get around to it this week.

We have always decorated the Thanksgiving weekend or the week after and had the tree down before Jan. 1. I do leave my snowmen out until the end or February. I got the snowman tree in the living room down and rearranged the snowmen into the family room.

Sounds like you have enough workouts to see you through the new year in style, Babie_Jane! That's great.

You 'undecorate' (set down) very early. We keep our tree and stuff up until after Epiphany (when the wise men came to visit Jesus). We celebrate that on January 6. That also includes Ukrainian Christmas here and we have a large population of people from Ukraine here, so it's like we're celebrating in their honour still! LOL!

Have a great new year everyone!

And Christine - we'll get everyone back on track, don't worry.

Get in those last treats guys, as we're starting anew come January 1st!

This morning I tried out my Wii Fitness Coach, I believe I am really going to like it. Most of today's time was spent getting set up. We went to Costco and got a new vacuum cleaner. Our other one had a part burn up and would have been as expensive if not more to fix it. Costco had some workout DVDs buy one get one free ($9.99), so I got 4. One Leslie Sansone 5 mile workout, one country line dance, AM/PM Yoga and another I can't remember right now. Then we went to Olive Garden for lunch. Yep, I am ending the year with a bang. Oh well, maybe when I get back in the routine after the holidays I will start losing again. We came home and got Christmas put away. One tree, the Christmas tree is done. DH just needs to wrap it up and take it out, but he is busy watching football right now. The snowman tree will probably wait until tomorrow. My snowmen stay out until February or March.

We, also, got Mama Mia at Costco, might see if DH wants to watch it tonight.

Hello guys and no I did not get workout dvd's but I did get a diaper bag from my daughter with tigger on it. I got some pots and pans which I desperately needed and a new coffee pot that dispeneses by the cup. So far I am still maintaining where I am at and not gaining much at all thank goodness. I go back to the doctor on Jan 9th so that's when it will tell off. I am through the first trimester and starting to feel alittle bit better with energy if I could just get over the sinus problems. I have been doing alot of walking in town so that's really helping me about the weight and still don't want to eat much. The only sweet I had for Christmas was fruit salad and that's all I wanted. I hope to keep it up.

DH got me a Tae Bo workout DVD. I, too, will be in the learning stage for a while. And that sucker is LONG. (44 minutes compared to my old 25 minute one)

I also got clothes in size medium and small, does that count? One or two of the smalls are snug, so they are an incentive to keep going! But no more XXL and XL!!

By the way - stay tuned for the cardio challenge coming in January!

Babie_Jane, my coleader, sparkmail me about it, 'kay? We'll bounce ideas, yes?

Okay, so what fitness related gifts did any of you get for Christmas?

Me...I got 3 new workout DVDs and Wii Fitness Trainer from DH. He may not have joined me, yet, in my lifestyle change. But, he does support me in it. This is the 2nd Christmas in a row he has added to my workout collection. I gave the Dirty Dancing dvd a try this afternoon. I will be in the learning phase of it for some time it seems. But, it was still a good workout.

I am glad that it sounds like everyone is doing well. Finishing things up can be stressful. I still have some wrapping to do, but otherwise am in good shape.

Still don't know what i ma cooking for Christmas dinner. We travel to my brother's and I do the shopping and cooking for all the guests - usually about 20. It won;t be anything fancy, since they all seem to want plain and simple food. So that won't be difficult.

glad that our on made it home safely yesterday. We are enjoying spending time with him.

Merry Christmas all

Hello guys!! Today we are heading to the mall to get our Christmas clothes. We are not going shopping until December 26. The kids are getting cash. This Christmas we are tightening our belts and limiting our gift giving.

Cheryl, thanks to family. It is good that she is helping you out. I am sure she enjoys your company as well.

I at least got my walking in today as I was trying to finish up my Christmas shopping with my sister. She is always a big help for me and always been there to help me out. She knows now slow I am being pregnant and really works with me to help me get around without people pushing me down.

Yes we will make it that's for sure. Stay safe with your trip and have fun my friend. I will take the snow CJ and wish we would get some. We hardly ever have a white Christmas and love them so. Take care and have a good night.

We'll do it together, Christine.
Good idea to cut down on gifts this year. It's tight all round, isn't it? Sometimes things that don't cost a lot are big hits. I know one year, I made 'brownies in a jar' for my adult niece and nephew, sister and in laws. I got all the dry ingredients for brownies, layered them in glass jars, and decorated the jars festively. I then tied with ribbon the recipe and what to add to the dry mix. It went over very well, and cost only the ingredients (as I used cleaned jars from pasta sauce!) and bit of ribbon. All the sugar and chocolate chips and flour I bought bulk to save money.

Other people make treats for people and put them in a decorated box. Still others give people 'coupon books' good for hugs, time spent together, shovelled walks or mowed lawns, etc. All it takes is your time and some pretty paper to do. Very cost-effective.

Hello Cheryl and Cheryl!! I am not done with Christmas shopping but that's fine. We have decided to cut down on Christmas gifts this year as a clan. It is financially tight for everybody.

Cheryl D, I have to be serious about getting back in shape after I get back from the Convention. I want to lose weight before the next summer.

Let us all hang in there!!

Don't worry, Christine and Cherly, we will get you guys in shape in the new year. I'm planning a cardio challenge for January so you will have to get MOVING! That way we can all burn off our Christmas baking and turkey stuffing.

It WAS cold, Cherly, but we get this at least once a year (sometimes in December, usually in January, occasionally in February). Today was warmer: only minus 17 (about 3 degrees for you guys). It felt downright balmy in comparison! We have never not had a white Christmas. It would be very strange to me not to have one. I wish I could send you some snow for the day on Christmas. We have lots of extra!

Safe trip, Christine.

I hope you have a safe travel and you won't be that far from me down there. I too need the motivation for the new year and can't gain much either Christine. My sugar is ok but having alot of pressure while walking trying to get the Christmas shoppping down. Maybe its all just readjusting but still very uncomfortable for me right now. I too am trying to get a cold so what fun for Christmas. LOL We won't have the white Christmas here either and we usually never have one. emoticon
Have a good weekend team and hope your Christmas shopping is done because mines not. YIKES!!

Hello Cheryl!! How are you doing? How is your sugar? It has been raining here. We won't have a white Christmas...either way if fine with me.

Guys, I need your help and motivation next year. I am traveling for a week to New Orleans then I have to get back to shape.

Take care!!

Wow CJ that's is cold. I just wish we would have some snow for Christmas here in Arkansas. Last night was the kids Christmas program and today is their party day. I guess I will go ahead and check them out and get some Christmas shopping done with them. Kids are already grating the nerves and pray it gets better soon.

Hi guys!
Hope you are all well today.

It is frigidly cold here. It was about -40 with the wind for at least three days in a row. I don't even ahve to convert that from Celsius to Fahrenheit for you guys, as it's the same on both scales! In other words - minus flipping cold!

It's a tiny bit warmer today - only -30! (That's minus 34 to you guys).

Brrrrrrrrr!

Hello guys!! Thanks Cheryl helping me with the email.

Everything seems better esp with our entire family all together. I think even with 5 of us home we are happy just to be with each other.

Diet wise.....I will get there I promise!!

The kids were out of school today for ice and will be out again tomorrow. Greg and I got out this afternoon to put some gas in his truck and the roads are still ice covered. It is supposed to warm up tomorrow and hopefully melt this stuff. Glad you got your tree up Sam! I have had mine up a while. Hang in there Christine and you will make it.

Well, we didn't have a snow day today, but we left an hour and half early... That is a big pain! We may be off tomorrow.

I did get my Christmas tree decorated. It is so pretty. It's a slim one that I decorate entirely with bird ornaments.

One more Christmas item done.

Hello guys!! Cheryl hope you feel better and hope the meds are working for you.

Sam...well done on the dancing!!

We are doing well and after my son's birthday I need to focus back on Christmas. Our extended family has decided not to give gifts to adults, only the young adults and children in school. That is less burden for me. Then we will be donating money to our favorite charity. I think that is much better than overspending again.

As far as my weight is concerned, hmmmm I'll check back Jan 1, 2009. It is too stressful at work...year end closing and audit season.

I promise to be here more often. Take care!!

Hello Sam and my kids are also out tomorrow due to ice and sleet here. They are bouncing off the walls already so it will be impossible to get them to bed at a reasonable time tonight. Not for sure how many days they will get out due to this but Friday is their last day before Christmas break.

I may get a snow day tomorrow. I can stay home and look at my tree; I got it decorated today. I have a slim tree that I decorate with all bird ornaments that I have been collecting. I try to put up a second tree with all the family ornaments in the living room. Since we're away at Christmas, I don't always get that one up.

I still have wrapping to do and my Christmas letter. How is everyone else doing?

The parties sound great, Sam. glad the dancing was fun and others remarked favourably about it.

Sorry to hear about the anxiety about your brother-in-law's job. Not fun.

Cherly - hope those sugars get under control soon. I'll bet the parade was fun.
