Thanks for all of the posting Melissa! I hope everyone else is working hard? I know that I haven't been loggin on and I am not as far along as I wanted to be at this time, but I am working hard and starting to log my food again!

Denise Austin Boot Camp is the aerobic tape to get! I am telling you! I am making it through both 20 minute cardio and cardio with strength workouts and I am absolutely dead afterwards! I hope you all are out there still and trying!

Well Everyone, it's Monday! I don't know about anyone else, but Monday always seems like a brand new fresh start!

I haven't been tracking my food...it seems I hardly have time to post on the boards, let alone get food and exercise entered in. I am going to aim for food, but activity, I am just going to jot down with a pen...it's a little faster for me that way!!

On the other hand, I consider it a good thing that I am busy...it's 10 am and I have already washed the rest of my windows (I did half last week) the windows, done 2 loads of laundry and had a little play time with my little girl! Next is to vacuum and mop floors. I have been trying to get all my house chores done in one day for 2 reasons...1) it gets it out of the way so I have all week to do other things (like walk, ride my bike) and 2) I feel like I get a workout b/c I work fast and furious!!

SO..being Monday, I promise to all that I am going to track my food every day this week. If I miss a few things, that will be ok, but I am going to do it every day!

What's your promise today??

i've been able to stay on track this week,despite having a nonstop schedule of events and activities to go to. my daughter just finished playing soccer. next up for her is either gymnastics or ballet. she is very active and loves to be with other kids her age.

How is everyone now that summer has come? Are we still trying to get outside and move?

I for one, know that I have been strictly aweful. I have gained way too much weight for me to mention and really need to get back to a routine, I think any routine will help! I am going to start my day with exercise. If I can't eat right, at least I can burn some of it, right?

I would like to see everyone posting daily, including myself. I KNOW that when I am posting what I eat and logging my exercise, I am actually DOING something about it! What about you? Where do you want to be? I am just sad and disappointed that no matter what, I won't make my goal by my anniversary time. I know this and I am sad. I could give up or I could try my best for as good of a body and as healthy as I could be and that is what I am going to do.

Hi All!! Sorry for the absence. The little one and I were sick, but I sure got lots of snuggling in with her!! :) Always an upside right!!

Hope everyone is doing great! I am so excited, just before we got sick, we bought a bike seat and a wagon for Sophia (gotta love garage sales!) We have walked with the wagon quite a bit, but I am hoping to finally try the bike out today!

It is absolutely beautiful out! Also hoping to get my vegetable garden done today! My other plan is to get back to tracking here on Spark. Haven't tracked in about a month...I know terrible!!! But I haven't fallen off the wagon or anything, just didn't track. So, now will be the test to make sure I have been keeping within my ranges!!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Memorial weekend if you are celebrating it! I am thinking a minimul weight loss competition is in order beginning Tuesday... I propose we try and follow the "rules to losing weight" by logging on to our computers and making sure we plan our meals and exercise and follow through with it. I challenge everyone to 1 pound in 7 days... I think it is doable and everyone should be able. So on Tuesday morning, be sure to get a good weight and lets hit it! : )

Hi All!! I have a long weekend coming up, so we are heading out doing one of our fave. things!!! Camping!

Can't wait! But, I have written a grocery list, and I have things like yogurt, fruit, veggies, sandwich makings....my husband had to ask, what about chips and chocolate bars.... :) So, I will compromise and buy 1 bag of chips, and 1 choc. bar and he can take those fishing!

So, hope we all have a successful weekend and stay ontop of our goals!!

Footean, I just noticed, you are getting pretty close to your Pedicure Reward!!! Just keep on going girl!! You can do it!

i had a chance to talk with a couple of people today. i still don't know what to, but i feel better.

5 things: i'm a good musician, i'm nice, i'm funny, i'm creative, i have a good relationship with my hubby and kids.

i got on the scales today and found out that i lost 2 of the 3 pounds i had gained. i took a long walk and later went on a short hike. it was nice, and my kids had fun on the hike. they played in the water that was flowing over the rocks and the pools that formed in the crevices.

It sounds like you have a lot on your plate as well. Maybe, just a thought, you should find someone to talk to that is a professional. It might help for you to sort out your feelings, which can be very hard to do. It is a cycle isn't it? I also think you need to right down all of the wonderful things about you so you can actually see them, and if you husband is trying to help, that can be one way he can be handy as well as your children and friends. Just tell them that you are writing down all of your good qualities and ask them for some ideas of what to add to your list.

It is so hard as women that we can't appreciate ourselves. We wouldn't treat our friends the way we treat ourselves. I don't look at my good friend and say, "oh, you look fine except when you can see the roll on your stomach" or "my goodness you look fat." Why do we do it to ourselves? What is the image that we are trying to live to and is it attainable? This can extend to all areas of our lives. Why, as women, are we so hard on ourselves and pushing ourselves so much until we break?

The biggest thing we need to do is to learn to love and appreciate ourselves for who we are. I am a fun loving, sweet, caring, compassionate, motherly person. It is hard for me, but I came up with five good things, it's your turn... Tell us five wonderful things about yourself, everyone...

i appreciate your insight. i've been giving some thought to my situation. i know i have low self-esteem right now. i think i may feel like i don't deserve to feel good. everytime i have successes with my weightloss, i screw up the whole next week. i'm in a situation where i feel like i'm unwanted, and i can't seem to get my hubby to understand. at least he tries to listen, but i know he doesn't want to hear it. that makes me feel alone. i can't talk to my mom about this for a few reasons. i did open up a little to a couple of friends this week. my feelings are hurt, and though i know i'm not to blame, i keep wondering what's wrong with me and what did i do to cause this. and i'm facing another situation (possibly going back to school) and i'm scared to death. i've been a stay-at-home mom now for 10 years, and that's all i know how to do, and i'm afraid i can't cut it in college again. sorry to unload, but at this hour of the night, there's no one to talk to. and if i dont get this out, i feel like i'll explode. i can't stop feeling stupid and undeserving. on a positive note, i think i stayed in my calorie range today. it wasn't a very healthy diet, but i did do something right. it's been a while since i stayed in the range. and i did exercise about 15 minutes. it's not much, but it's a start. if i could just quit running to food for comfort...

It will get better JKLM_MOM. You have to have hope and determination though. I don't know if this will help you, but here is what I have realized about myself... When I exercise and eat healthy, I FEEL better. I think sometimes, my self talk isn't working because I end up making excuses and changing my routine to be able to eat that McDonald's for dinner. HA! I realized this last weekend that I am addicted to food. I think that I like the way it tastes and makes me feel, but after eating, I feel sad and let down. Or worse yet, I keep eating to get this "good" feeling and it never comes. It is almost like a drug!!! I am an addict.

For the first time in a long time, things have settled a bit on the home front and I ate within my calorie range today, walked whenever I could at work or anywhere, and took the dog for a walk. I think I feel really good.

Does it make you feel good when you eat right and exercise? If it does, then I guess you have to figure out why you don't want to feel good. Maybe if we have that talk with ourselves (reverse psychology) we might win the internal argument! : )

i'm bummed. i've gained 3 lbs back in about 2 weeks. for the first time in a few months i've gone back to the 160s. i've just been overeating and not exercising as much. a little extra food here and there has added up. i've been depressed and have been running to food. today, i hope to start making some small changes again. i started my day by going shopping and getting something for myself. even if i hadn't bought anything, i would have felt better just having gotten out of the house. it's been hard this time. my pep talks to myself just haven't been working. i've spent a lot of time reflecting, and i feel a little more focused. i could still really use some encouragement. i don't like feeling this way. i just hope it's starting to get better.

Don't worry abou thte long post! My goodness, you are not the only one in that boat, I am there too. I have not been with the program for a while and I am slowly creaping up there. I know I CAN do it, I am just letting everything else get the best of me. I had never been on a diet before, I have never been on an exercise routine, so I guess I never realized that I was an emotional eater. I have been overly stressed myself, so I find the chocolate and fatty foods are "making me feel better" only they aren't, they are making me feel worse. I feel SO much better when I exercise and when I am feeling healthy and happy, so why don't I just do it? I guess I am still trying to answer that question.

I am back on track so far this morning and any encouragement that we can all give each other will go quite a long ways. I am still down 40 pounds from where I started and I think I will kick myself if I get any further from my goal!!! Motivation, maybe that just kicked in?

Hey everybody. Okay I am back and I am going to TRY my hardest to stay on track this time. I haven't been to the gym in over 2 weeks and the scales this morning had me up! I was so pissed off at myself. But it is nobody's fault but my own!

Like I said in my last post things have been really stressful lately. Between work and some problems at home I've let emotional eating get the best of me. Espically last night. As I was crying my eyes out I was shoving junk and soda in my mouth. This morning I realized what I had done and so even more upset.

I want so bad to be healthy and be happy with myself. For once in my life I want to feel like a guy is looking at me becuase I look good, not a total fat butt! I want to do it for my little girl so I am going to try harder then ever to stay on track.

I am hoping that everyone is getting outside to enjoy the sunshine? Remember to take this time to turn off the TV and get outside with your family to be active. Gardening, yard work, walking the dog, playing at the park, walking nature trails, playing soccer outside with the kids, all of these things and more can be done for a bit of exercise! Enjoy it, don't regret it.

Happy Friday everyone!!

Hope you are all gearing up for the weekend! I am heading to Calgary (about 4 hours away) for a wedding. We are staying overnight and I think I am more excited about taking my daughter on her first waterslide at the hotel!!

But don't worry!! I haven't forgotten the tips for weekend eating! I am taking a cooler with some healthy food in it for a lunch on the road, some fruit and veggies, cold water! I am hoping at the wedding they will have some healthy choices, and I will pay attention to my portions! I will also make sure I am not snacking on things just b/c they are there!

So, that is my weekend food plan. AS for exercise, I think running up and down the waterslide stairs a few dozen times should do it!!

Hi All!!
Congrats to those that are having a successful week! I am sure your hard work will pay off...Keep doing a great job!! Be sure to post what keeps you motivated, or what new tools you have been using to keep you on track!

If you are one that is feeling you have been neglecting your healthy lifestyle, don't despair.

Sometimes we become overwhelmed with life and I think it is a natural response (as wives, moms, maybe just women!) for us to put ourselves last. And what do we get from that???? Guilt we have neglected ourselves? Shame that we have fallen off the wagon? Sadness that we aren't concentrating on our goals? We have all felt that before, but fight those negative thoughts off!!!

If you are feeling that way right now, as I see from the posts some are....do something for YOU...today!! Take a walk, not a big one if you don't have time, just a short one. Take the stairs. (I like to carry things up and down my stairs instead of all at once), take a bath, make your favorite dinner, read some posts from your Spark friends, Dance around the house to your favorite music!

I know, I know you are thinking, I don't have time right now...But make 5 or 10 mins just for yourself. You'll be glad you did! Your family will be glad you did! You will feel better, and you will find your motivation again!!

Take care of yourselves, YOU are in charge of your happiness!!emoticon

Morning everybody. First off all I want to say sorry that I have been MIA for awhile. Work has been really busy and by the time I get home I am so worn out I don't want to do anything. On-top of that my poor daughter is sick so its making things really hard for both of us. I haven't had but a total of about 10 hours sleep in the past 3 nights.

Things haven't been going so well. I haven't exercised in over a week and I have been eating out ALOT. I have been on the go at work and haven't had any time to actuallay sit down and eat anything. I am hoping that things will calm back down next week and I can get back on track.

I went shopping on Sunday for some spring clothes and had to buy a size 20! I was SO UPSET.. My shirts were all 1X or 2X! That is the BIGGEST by far I have EVER had to buy for both. My mom who has only lost 9 pounds was able to go down a size to a 12/14 which was even more upsetting!

Well I have a ton of work to do so better get back to it. Hope that everybody had a better month then me!

My motivation's name is Sophia and I see that motivation each and every day!

I want to be healthy and active so I can chase my daughter around a playground. I want to ski with her when she gets older, and go white water rafting or rock climbing or whatever it is she develops an interest in.

I also want to make sure she grows up in a healthy, active home!!

Hey everybody. Just wanted to check in. I havne't been to the gym since Monday but have gotten some workouts in. This week has been HORRIBLE at work and so busy that its making me want to pull out my hair. But today it has slowed back down and hopfully next week will be better.

I lost .5 this week. I am so excited that I didn't gain. I was on the road non-stop for work this week and ate out twice. BAD I know. Back on track today so the weight will hopfully start coming back off again.

I am back... I am so sorry I have been away for so long.

My school boundary decision has finally been made tonight, now it is just an adjustment period. We were able to get part of what I was working towards... Needless to say, it is time I begin focusing my efforts back to something else again. I am sorry I haven't been here to support everyone and give advice, but I am here and I am going to go full force.

I hope everyone is doing well? I have read up on the posts since I was last on. I am hoping that everyone is doing okay?

i had a full day,too. i went to visit a friend of mine who lives on the opposite site of town and we had so much fun! it was definitely worth the trip. then she comes to visit me the next week.

Hey everybody. First of all sorry that I haven't updated in awhile. Work has been really crazy and I haven't had a chance to do much of anything let alone get on Spark.

Anyway a quick update before I head outside to do some yard work. I haven't been to the gym since Monday. Yesterday I have to move 9 computers down 2 flights of steps and load them into my truck. I must of made over 30 trips of the steps & back down. Then I had to un-load them all at another building. So I am counting that as my workout. I was SO sore last night when I got home and could feel it this morning.

Tonight I plan on going for a nice walk with my daughter since its 72 outside. Since I haven't been to the gym since Monday I am still hoping to at least lose 2 this week at my weigh in.

Hi All...first of all sorry this looks so long!!! I always feel like I have so much to say all at once!! hee hee!

I keep telling myself when other aspects in my life aren't going so well, I can always count on my healthy ways to keep me going. It is something I can count on, and something only I have control of!! I always choose what I eat, and what activities I do.

Now, I'm not saying I actually follow through with this thought and make good choices all the time, but it is a tool I use sometimes!

I personally have been struggling with 2 pounds down, 2 pounds up pretty much since I started Spark...somteimes I am tempted to give up, or to feel frustrated and sad that I am not getting thinner, or lighter. BUT I won't give in. I keep trying and keep going. I just keep trying to do better!!!


I especially have trouble on weekends...we get busy, my husband is a drive thru kinda guy, we visit friends, etc, etc....but I got this email this morning and thought I would post it here...incase anyone else struggles with weekends!

TIPS FOR TURNING AWAY TEMPTATION

Plan family activities like bike rides or outdoor games. This helps you spend time with your family and burn calories all at once!


Carry a water bottle with you to your weekend activities. This will help you get your water for the day and resist the temptation to reach for a soda or other caffeinated beverage.


Set some "weekend specific" goals for yourself based on the realities of what youíll be doing. They may look very different than your weekday goals, and thatís okay.


If you are going to be out all day, pack some healthy snacks in case you get hungry. There is nothing worse than being hungry at the mall, and the only food options are ice cream or pizza.


Set Monday as your weigh-in day. You are more likely to resist temptation if you have to face the scale first thing Monday morning.


Plan ahead!! If you are going out to eat, find the restaurant's menu (and any available nutritional information) online. Youíll have plenty of time to make a healthy choice before you get there.


Don't save all of your splurging for the weekends. Allowing yourself a few treats throughout the week will help you avoid the mindset that the weekend is an excuse to go bonkers. And by spacing your treats evenly, you're less likely to get sudden, irresistible cravings.
With a little extra effort and planning, you can turn weekends into an enjoyable experience and an opportunity to keep your program moving in the right direction!

well, i actually didn't do well today either. i'm in a really bad slump. all this after having down so well last week. i'm actually feeling a bit depressed. i've been trying to do some part-time work, and nothing is working out. this last rejection hurt a little (particularly since i had to hear about it from someone else), but tomorrow is a new day. i hope it holds new promise. i hate feeling so sad. it really sucks.

way to go footean! I only eat half of my meals when I go out and I take the rest home for another time.

melissia, I love being outdoors for my exercise. If the weather is nice and not too hot, I take my dog for longer walks in the park.

Baross, you sound so busy! I think it's awesome that you always fit your workouts in. I wish I could be more motivated sometimes!

Hope that everybody is having a great weekend. I am taking today off from the gym but its about 70 outside. So I do plan on getting in some walking.

About the pains during time of the month I don't have any advice. I get that way about 2 days before I start and just keep pushing myself and drink lots of water. It seems to help me stop sooner.

Hubby & I went out to dinner last night to. Wasn't really a date night since we had our daughter but still nice. We did get an appitazer of chicken quasideas (SP) but I didn't eat as many as normal. Only ate 1/2 of my meal :-D
