Georgianne’s Taffy Apple Green Smoothie
One Granny Smith Apple (you can sub any apple, but your smoothie will be sweeter) 3-4 Medjool dates, pitted 1-2 cups coconut water (you can sub pure water) 3 large leaves chard (you can sub any dark greens here: collards, kale…) Handful of mixed greens (optional) Handful of cilantro 1 tbsp raw almond butter
Cut and core your apple, then toss into the blender. Pit your dates. Add all remaining ingredients to the blender and mix until smooth.

I learned this on Dr. Oz two days ago - add a pinch (or more) of Cayenne Pepper to your drinks. It helps the digestion system move along and it helps curb appetite. The couple who shared this idea: Billy Blanks and his wife, shared a recipe of watermelon, water and cayenne (I made this each morning the past 2 days and it's really good - the watermelon drink) I cut a melon up and froze it in chunks, I put a few chunks in water and puree' - then add a pinch of cayenne. It's really good! Now, I'm adding a pinch to my green drinks - it add a touch of flavor that is different and not bad. Go to Dr. Oz's website for Billy Blanks website and link to the recipes he shared - very fun!

I love this, I've been looking for more recipes! I use spinach as my greens mostly because I think kale kind of takes over the flavor, but I've also used bok choy. I might venture out to other greens as well.
My favorite: Spinach Banana Mix of Berries (frozen) Brown Rice Protein powder (it's hard for me to digest other types of protein powder) Green tea (instead of water and saves time in the morning) Dash of cinnamon and ginger Maybe a few dates (if you want to make it sweeter)
You're allowed to be selfish about your health.

I do like my chocolate morning coffee or I mean smoothie . Handful of Baby Spinach 1 Tblsp ground Flax Seed Good heaping spoon of Natural Peanut Butter tsp of of baking cocoa Tblsp of instant coffee serving of choc. Protein powder 1 small banana, cut up or frozen Ice Milk to blend. Enjoy! If I have done well and want to treat myself in the evening like ice cream I'll add International Delight Choc Caramel Creamer to the recipe and minus the coffee, banana, protein powder, and less spinach and less milk to blend so it gets a good ice cream like consistency. I also will subtract the flax seed if I have already had my 2Tblsp serving for the day.

I did a green smoothie with two cups filtered water, one banana, one cara cara navel orange, about a cup of beet greens from the garden (these were rather red in color), one cup rapini (chopped up stem, leaves, flower and all) and a scoop of vanilla protein powder. I basically am trying to get back into green smoothies with what I have available. The result looked beige rather than green, but it tasted good. The green smoothie book I have says that one can use things not normally eaten including carrot tops and radish tops, but that it is important to rotate the greens frequently.

Total Green Goodness Smoothie
1-2 Peeled Cucumbers Handful Italian Parsley Large Handful of Spinach or Kale Juice of 2-3 Lemons Optional: Quarter Cup of Water
This recipe can be juiced or blended. However, I prefer to blend this smoothie as to keep the fiber. Cut up all ingredients and blend in a high-powered blender like a Vitamix. If you use a regular blender, this will not come out smoothly. A high powered blender will make this very creamy and smooth. Spritz in more lemon juice if you want it to have a bit more of a kick. you can also add in a sliver of fresh ginger. Sip, breath, and enjoy! Feel the goodness spread within your system!

I am definitely getting hungry reading these recipes! I don't have too much in the house right now. I'll try to improvise! My blog lists my kitchen foods. Got any ideas for me? I m also feeling sick so I don' t want to go shopping right now. My glands are swollen, I have been sleeping way too much, and my legs hurt as well as having a slight headache on and off. Chris

watermelon - 2cups banana - 1 frozen chia seeds - 1 tbs beet/red carrot juice - 1 cup tahini - 1 tsp hemp seeds - 1 tbsp kelp flakes - 1 tsp Kale - 3 leaves Swiss Chard - 1 leaf Mango Lemonade - 1/2 cup Soak the chia seeds in the juice for about 15 min.
Delicious!
I have to agree about the Mango being messy. It's not too bad if you peel first and then slice off the "meat" with a knife. I'll have to try the frozen mango.

OK not a recipe but an idea; I have been placed on a food supplement drink by my doctor for health issues. After communicating with him on an alternatives we came up with a plan we both like. I drink his stuff, if I can add my stuff. A win win for me. His medical solution and I add my green super food powder to it, with almond milk and a small amount of berries. It still taste like *&%@, but I can deal with that. There are some solutions to every problem, we just have to try our best to find them.

the white beans give a nice creamy texture and a protein kick - i made a smoothie without protein a couple of days ago and it left me with a "hole" in my stomach after a while.

Spicy Cinnamon Smoothie
3 cups spinach 1 small banana 1 cup seedless black or red grapes 1 tsp. vanilla* 1 tsp cinnamon .125 tsp cayenne pepper 2 cups of water
* I use 1/3 of a vanilla bean in mine opposed to processed vanilla
Blend all till desired consistency. I find that if I put the banana in 1st, then the greens, the spices, vanilla, and then the fruit followed by the water it works the best.

I do not think we have hard fast rules here, just try and do our best. I would try to use fresh as we can afford or get. Or what ever works so you can get your greens in. Striving to perhaps cut back on processed when we can. Many fruits and veggies lose their nutritional values when processed, heated up, canned and slightly even when frozen. I use frozen, because they are at their ripest when flash frozen. I like that better for flavor instead of produce that is picked before ripened. I try when I can to buy organic or locally grown from quality non pesticide farms. And no GMO, but that is my choice. We just do what we can and as we go along try and eat as fresh and wholesome as we can. I don't think anyone is going to scold you. Did you enjoy it? If yes well there you go :)

I bought some red chard, never used the stuff in my entire life. No clue what it tastes like, but:
3 big leaves red chard {Prettiest green ya ever want to see} 1 Can Pineapple {No sugar added - is that ok?} 1 C blackberries, raspberries, blueberries - frozen mixture, no sugar Water 1 Fresh mango
It is actually tasty. A bit different but I can sip on it. It's my dinner.

1 mango 1 large banana 1/2 bunch fresh parsley 1 cup of filtered water
Directions
Peel mango and remove flat seed in middle.
Add that to a power Blender. I have a KitchenAid KSB580 that is as powerful as Blendtec or Vitamix at 1/3 the cost. Throw in a banana and 1/2 bunch of fresh parsley. Add at least 1 cup of water. Add more water to taste depending on how liquid you want it.
I use filtered ice water; you may want to add a few ice cubes as well.
