I'm worth it is what I say everytime I take a Pilates session with my personal trainer. I have had more than 30 sessions. I'm worth it and I am so glad I'm working to afford it.

I recently started Pilates Reformer classes. It's a lot pricier than the mat classes, but I'm worth it- so I forked up the money and I have to say that in the 3 weeks that I've been doing it... I already feel different. And boy, is it a workout each and every time!!! I absolutely love it!

Do you mean is there anyone else who is taking Pilates classes other than me? Should you take two or three times a week? If you want to make faster progress then make it 3 times a week. They actually want you to include something else that is separate from this to be half hour minimum cardio sessions. Congratulations on signing up for 20 sessions. And regarding pilates and breathing, how you breath as you move is essential. It teaches better breath management. I'd go for the 3 times a week because you are teaching your body something new.

Is anyone here still doing pilates and if so how is it going ? I just signed up for 20 classes, after having 2 private ones, and not sure if I should do 2 or 3 a week ? One of the reason I'm doing pilates is to help me build up my lungs and breathing due to a health issue.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Jean

I take private pilates sessions twice a week. I'm now past my 20th session and working towards the 30th. Joseph. Pilates says these are landmark sessions where you will see your body change. I will attest to this as true for my 65+ year old body!!! I had been working out on the machines at the gym and hating every minute but there was no weight lost so in desperation to try something different I turned to Pilates. Bam, seven pounds came off after the 3rd session. I love Pilates. I have to have a personal trainer because she makes sure my body is positioned correctly for the changes that Pilates can do for my body frame. My work is at a private Pilates studio near my house. I use all the Pilates equipment. I still have a lot of weight to loose but it is coming off. I highly recommend Pilates. To do it correctly you must mentally focus and thus, the mental peace that comes with this form of exercise.

I'm going to try it when the dust settles down in my world.

There is a free class at my gym for water pilates. Anyone try that? Sounds nice.

I have never used a Pilates machine, but I do mat workouts on a semi-regular basis. It is a GREAT ab workout, and in my opinion much more interesting than doing crunches. I don't do upper or lower body pilates exercises as often, but it is definitely my go-to ab exercise.

I am on a budget so I am reluctant to pay for a private session on a reformer, etc. but I would still be interested in hearing what other people think!

I designed an ad for a pilates instructor once does that count?
She was in wicked shape so I imagine the system works. =)

I posed this question in the fitness chat corner.

Has anyone tried the machines? You know, a few sessions with a Pilates professional in their gym with their Pilates equip?
