walks_with_dogs! You have an awesome goal! However, I cannot say that I have that ambition. I would certainly be a cheerleader. I have never been that before. Maybe I can lose enough weight to fit into an outfit. emoticon I would be able to walk with you. At the time you like I would only be available on Fridays for that time. Candy58 was looking forward to getting together and walking Lake Phalen. Wouldn't it be lovely to have a steady walking group

Good morning. I've been here and then gone a long time. I'm back.

I am 55 and taking on my first sprint triathlon which is a 5k run, 12 mile bike ride, and half mile swim. I'm giving myself a LONG time to train - a year roughly - as I'm starting from scratch and have had two surgeries in the last four years.

Anyone want to join me? I found a training schedule on line - something like 27 weeks from couch to 5k and then another training program to train all three sports for about 20 weeks. So, it's all very slow so I don't get injured. I've been a swimmer so that should be the easiest for me. I'm walking 3 days a week, lifting, and on a stationary bike three days a week for about 20 minutes. I'm not back in the pool yet at all.

I live near Lake Phalen and work at the U of MN Minneapolis campus and use the rec center.
It could be fun.

I'm doing chirunning and taking a TI swim class to make it more interesting and hopefully, easier on my old joints.

So, everyone is welcome. My goal is to train and finish the sprint triathlon in June, 2013 injury-free. Any joiners?

:) walks_with_dogs - Who says you can't teach old dogs new tricks? My mother started running at 55 after having 7 kids and ran a half-marathon in her mid-seventies!!

Active board members would be a nice angle.

I don't count steps either, but maybe it would be the motivation needed to get me counting.

I was trying to be creative, but have not had a creative moment yet. I will keep working on it.

I don't count steps, but that's a great challenge for a lot of people.

tracking the water is an easy one, since we all do that for SP anyway (or most do)

We could challenge members in this group to be active board members x times per week.

fitness minutes is always good

do something motivating each day?

I am opeing up discussion for ideas for team challenges. I was thinking that a weekly or monthly challenge would be appropriate to start with. Any ideas are appreciated!
